    "This is basically common sense"
For all you people commenting that, try telling that to some women in India or certain parts of Africa who have to avoid cooking or going to school while on their periods because it's a taboo there.

This is a great myTake! I personally hate it when feminazis try to make themselves look like the victim so everyone can pity them. Your article really shows the true meaning of feminism, which would be gender equality.

Actually, I didn't. I know that many people have had negative experiences with feminism and that feminism is far from perfect. But these positive messages- whether I received them from people in my life, media, books, etc- have always been presented to me in association with feminism, so that's the relationship with feminism that I personally grew up with. There's nothing to disagree with. This is just my personal experience.

I'm sorry, of course, for being tempestuous. I simply think feminism is ruining society by liberating sex amongst alpha males and 80% of women, leaving the worker-drone beta males to check out and crash the west's economy. I love getting laid a ton, but I don't want my inferiors to ruin this country

This myTake isn't really about "rights". I'm lucky to have been born during a time where equal "rights" for women were a given. But equal treatment and acceptance are a different matter. That's not to say that men don't have their own problems or that they don't deal with sexism as well, but this myTake is about my personal experience.

@samhradh_leannan I do realize that. Thank you for responding. My comment was more directed at xxmamichulaxx, who seemed to be trying to equate feminism with the pursuit of equal gender rights. My point, which I stand by, is that feminism today has very little to do with gender equality, and if it did push for true equality almost all men would support it. It's frustrating to men that most feminists don't recognize that and instead seem to just want to characterize anyone who speaks out against feminism as misogynists when that is really not true.

@backdoorman her whole take was about how feminism taught her positive things and equality for both genders and that she's not a victim or obligated to be treated better just because she's a female, I think this is something most men would agree with and think her points are valid, modern day westernized feminism is Bullshit , but the original concept of the word "feminist" is defined as equal rights for both genders , and what she wrote here was basically set examples of what old fashioned feminist beliefs were made up as. I guess the modern day version of old fashioned feminism would be egalitarians

@backdoorman I do agree , modern femists beliefs aren't much about equality but instead putting women on top and making them into the victims , and its also not about equality for all races or for trans women either , it has gotten out of hand in western countries and is no longer about helping women and others , modern feminism doesn't focus on womens issues in Afghanistan and Iran or human trafficking, its more focused on freeing the nipple etc. I dont consider this actual feminism

@backdoorman I agree with that. Some feminism today still relates to equal treatment/ equal acceptance (if not equal "rights" exactly) but the feminism that is prominent and gets the most attention is much more negative.

You're not a feminist, you're an egalitarian. None of those things you learned are inherently feminist. Those are views held by decent people.
You don't need feminism to teach you those lessons.

They are inherently feminist in the sense of traditional, old fashioned feminism (which, yes, is essentially egalitarianism, but was called feminism originally). I understand that most feminism these days is rather different, but this type does still exist. These messages were always delivered to me in association with "feminism", so that's the relationship with feminism that I personally formed.

All you pointed out were basic points that you should already know as an adult. Why did you need an entire movement full of millions of people to understand simplicity?

You only had one valid point here (#6).

Historically, it has not always been a given that those things are true. In fact, it's STILL not always a given for every woman. But regardless of that, I'm not arguing that nobody could potentially reach those conclusions without the assistance of feminism. I'm sure many people do. However, these positive messages- whether I received them from people in my life, media, books, etc- have always been presented to me in association with feminism, so that's the relationship with feminism that I personally grew up with. I feel that feminism has benefited me because I'm not sure that I would have received those positive influences without the involvement of feminism. But that's just my personal experience.

I've yet to met an adult with his/her head on who doesn't understand simplicity such as be fair in your relationship.

"I'm not sure that I would have received those positive influences without the involvement of feminism. But that's just my personal experience."

That's what I thought, so the problem here is you. Not sure if it's because of low self-esteem but you need a "positive" message constantly pushed at you by millions of feminists to reach this conclusion. That's not good.

You may not have met those people, but I have. I've spoken with them in person and I've spoken with them online. The concept of gender equality is what has resulted in the idea that relationships should be mutual and fair. Would you like every girl you date to expect you to pay for everything 100% of the time, just because you're the guy?

This isn't about self esteem or needing messages "constantly" pushed at me in order to be happy. It's about the role feminism played in shaping my values and beliefs while I was growing up and developing into the person I am today. Every person is shaped by influences throughout their lives, especially as they're growing up.

It's great that you think these concepts are so obvious that nobody should ever need to be told about them. But that hasn't been the case, and there are still people out there who are more traditional or closed minded and don't have that type of awareness.

I don't know what kind of retrograded secluded society you've met these people but I haven't unless we mention trolls. You're the typical feminist that thinks anyone who doesn't believe what you believe is a misogynist. The trolls probably have field days with you...

Your "gender equality" hasn't resulted in the idea of fair relationships, that concept has already been around. You mentioned traditional in the same negative light as close minded and lacking some type of "awareness", you just proved yourself to be the typical feminist I described you as.

The truth is, the "traditional" people have a FAR better understanding of an equal relationship that the modern day feminist. If that wasn't the truth men would have a much better response towards dating feminists.

There are many different "types" of feminists today. You're obviously focusing primarily on the feminazi, man-hating type of feminism and yes, that type does exist. But traditional feminism is not extinct, and that's the type of feminism that I personally experienced growing up.

Literally everything you said makes NO sense.

I'm not focused on any "type" of feminism. There are three waves of feminism, the feminism today is third-wave feminism. I see this third wave nonsense and what it represents which is what you call the "feminazi" when that's really what all third wave is.

The first and second waves that you are stuck on, took place, got their needs met and disappeared all before you were born. It's impossible for you to experience "traditional" feminism, since the times of traditionalism took place before you even existed!

Plus, how can there be there be many "types" if it's only ONE movement? You just exposed your movement to be individually selfish since there is division in feminism and groups of people have their own meanings to define that movement.

Women are supposed to feel as such at a young age. All these things with penis envy are part of female sexual maturation. Feminism can't teach you anything in fact it makes it much more worst for you. Because subconsciously, your brain is telling you, if I need a group/organization to make me feel better (which it doesn't) I'm probably inferior.

@roamer I personally don't "serve" anything. I don't even necessarily consider myself a feminist, which you'd know if you read the whole myTake. The point I'm trying to make is that certain types of feminism can be positive, and people who are reluctant to turn against feminism or allow feminazis to hijack the title may have had experiences similar to mine. I specifically stated in the myTake that I don't promote misandry or any other negative impact that feminism can have. If you want to view this issue as black and white, and bite my head off because I'm not willing to renounce every single feminist influence as pure evil, then that's your choice, but it will not help anything or anyone.

There isn't any positivity in such a terrible movement and you're exactly what feminists are, hypocrites. You know how terrible of a movement feminism is so you don't want to be refered to as one. Why don't you call yourself a good feminist. It's because deep down you know what a terrible movement feminism is and you want to try and justify it. How pathetic can you get and if I was you, I would have shut up by now instead of repeating myself a 1000 times. However, that's the problem with feminist, they don't know when to shut up, they think If they repeat them themselves thinking it will make a difference. It only does for people who are stupid. Now go ahead and report me because i told you to shut up. It's pathetic.

I can't have a conversation with a person who thinks that telling me who I am or what I think is a productive way to communicate.

@samhradh_leannan Not a feminist at this moment, then why don’t you learn a new vocabulary? Why don’t you stand on your own as an independent woman and not require association with such a controversial “banner” as you hail and I think serve by doing so. Why don’t you just say it the way it is without feminism holding your hand? I associate with many tough strong minded self sufficient women that do not require some Marxists/feminists to take care of them and tell them what to do and they vehemently condemn feminism. I would hate to think what would happen if you waved your “banner” in their faces. These women are self standing unlike you it seems. I think this opinion owner tapped into the real answer. You require this association at arm’s length and the virtual support you believe it provides because as this opinion owner pointed out correctly you are masking your own insecurity. continued

There are many opinions on here that nailed it by simply asking why didn’t you learn these things (BTW have always been simple common sense to a country gal) on your own with your own individual mind? Is real (and not perceived bs) individuality the most significant discerning parameter between most men and women?--you make me wonder.. Do you need to associate (at lease in your discussion) with this group to have an identity? Why is it required to follow a predefined frame work outline by others with ulterior agendas and then back pedal to repair their defective works? And what the hell is “traditional, old fashioned feminism”—tying to slide that one under the tent unnoticed are ya? Just put all those words close together like jambalaya so that the association grows on the weak minded and is eventually accepted. continued

Get real, fess up—it is your promotional slogan in development for your cushier forth wave push. Just cut the crap and reach down in and attempt to speak with some realism and sincerity. Also, don’t concern yourself with the feminazis as if an excuse for being a savior, they have been given plenty of rope. @samhradh_leannan END

@roamer I have nothing to fess up to. This is how I experienced feminism, and that's how I know that there is a positive side of it. I have never promoted misandry or feminazism, and I never will. This myTake is about my experience, period- if you can't except it or you don't want to hear about it, you're free to go.

I mostly agree, you seem like on of those feminists (equalists) who actually don't hate men. I only don't agree with the last one, because women nowadays are not only equal, but even more privileged than men.

Did you happen to see how many women voted for Trump? I'm afraid being a woman IS a weakness.

I agree that Trump is a misogynist and I also find it unbelievable that any women would vote for him. But it's not a simple issue. There are a lot of reasons why people vote the way they do.

@Poppykate No. Hell no. No marriage. No kids. This the way it has to be in the "new age". The women want it their way and I want it my way - It's just that simple. No fuck trophies for me.

Ok sweetie. Take a deep breath. I think you are getting yourself workup! You will have a heart attack before you are 40. Everyone has a life choice. And that's yours! Good for you!
