My Views on Sex Determining Genetics and Gender Politics

Note: This take is not meant to offend anyone, when I use the phrase "radical liberals" I'm only referring to the liberals that are fanatics. I'm not referring to all liberals. I know not all liberals are bad.

1.) We all know that XY is a male and XX is a female. People have recently started to say that Females are the default sex. Traditionally it's been accepted that both males and females start off in a gender neutral state in the womb considering that both males and females only start off with one X chromosome. However, recently the third wave feminists and radical liberals have twisted this scientific fact to claim that al people start off a female. That's what I disagree with. Just because both men and women start off with a so called "proto female" body doesn't mean that men were once women or that masculinity is a "mutation".

2.) Why is it that after saying for many years that both men and women start off as gender neutral, some people are starting to say that we all started as woman? In my opinion this the result of the radical liberal's way of trying to belittle men. It's also a form of political correctness.

3.) The sex is already determined by the time the sperm cell reaches the ovum because the sperm carries the second chromosome either X or Y. It just takes a while for the second chromosome to activate which would determine the sex of the person. Which is why the Y chromosome is often labeled "sex determining" since it plays a major role in the development of a male.

4.) Sex differences aren't just genitals as the radical liberals want people to believe, there are also other genetic differences from skin, hair, body structure and body function. There are also certain ailments that men are more vulnerable to and vice versa. The funniest one is that female flatulence smells worse than male flatulence due to women having higher concentrations of hydrogen sulfide.

4.) Recently there was a amazing discovery in human genetics that proved that there are 6,500 genetic differences between men and women. Who knows maybe this will finally make people look at human sexual differences in a new perspective.

5.) There are people that are born with either XXY or just one X chromosome. While the XXY person is definitely a male due to the Y, the person with the one X is usually raised as a female even though the person only has one X chromosome. There is a moral question, is it right to automatically raise a one X person as a female? After all, it takes two X chromosomes for a person to be female.

6.) Gender identity: I don't know why there are people who are making their kids dress as the opposite sex. I don't care what a person wants to identify as long as they don't force their views onto others or harm others.

7.) LGBT in schools: I don't have anything against the LGBT community, I don't care how they live their lives as long as they don't force their views onto non LGBT people or cause harm. When it comes to talking to the younger generations about LGBT I think it should be till they are old enough to fully grasp the topic. Think about it, sex education doesn't start till the person is in their early teens around 7th grade. If schools want to introduce this topic to their students then it should be around the same time they start to introduce sex education. Not that long ago, I read a question on here discussing the controversy of a man dressed as a stereotypical female to perform in a school's talent show. This kind of performance is not appropriate for elementary school students.

8.) Gender specific clubs and groups: A lot of schools tend to have "girls only" clubs but no "boys only" clubs. In my opinion there should also be "boys only" clubs. Without any boys only clubs a lot of the male students feel left out/neglect and resentment. Where's the outrage for gender inequality? Surely this should be a issue that they address but unfortunately they don't. There are organizations that help only women but completely neglect men. Why not make groups that help men only? Well because the radical liberals would be the first to scream "misogyny!" "Sexism!" all because of political correctness.

9.) In case I didn't make myself clear. I'm not a misogynist, anti LGBT or anti liberal, I'm just criticising the radical liberal ideology.

I was never taught that we all start out as female so the first half of this Take wasn't really relevant to me personally.

Also, point 8 needs evidence or otherwise it's just a load of bull. I work in a school and have been in several schools and there are lots of clubs that are gender specific for both boys and girls. That's just pure speculation and has no merit or support.

Most of the anxiety over female underperformance stems from the fact that women are built for a primitive form of energy expenditure.

They have high estrogen; a primitive growth-inducing hormone. They need this for quick growth that facilitates egg-making and ovulation.

Estrogen is older than other sex hormones, and incites a more primitive (short term) energy metabolism.

Progesterone and testosterone are progressive, "new" hormones. Both facilitate advanced (long term, oxidative) metabolism. Women have high progesterone, men have high testosterone.

In addition, because the estrus cycle never totally vanished, female humans still experience huge surges in hormone levels over the span of a month, almost identical to other mammals like pigs. This means that a woman's mental state is necessarily less stable than that of a man's.

To put it bluntly; there are 2 (healthy) genders, women have a specific role in life, and men have theirs. Neither can do the other's role satisfactorily.

It's easy to see why some people might say that we start off female. In the womb, up to a certain point (about 4 weeks), our bodies develop as though we were all female. Between 4-6 weeks, the fetus is flooded with testosterone. Fetuses with androgen receptors will trigger gene expression in the presence of testosterone, whereas fetuses without these receptors will not. If left to its own devices (aka, no gene expression), the fetus will develop into a woman *even if* its chromosomes are XY.

You can see this in adults, too, if their hormonal makeup changes. A man without testosterone will take on more female characteristics, whereas a man or woman will simply die without estrogen. That lends a lot of credence to the idea that we all start off as female, even though there's obviously a lot of hyperbole in the message there.

Androgyny implies ambiguous gender. The fetus at this point is developmentally female, as gene expression that triggers the development of male features hasn't happened yet. But, you're sorta right in that there aren't any fully developed sex organs yet at that point, whether it's male or female.

My point is that what you get if this gene expression doesn't happen is a female, not an androgynist person.

No, I mean they develop as though they're female. Look up Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome. If a fetus does not have androgen receptors in its cells, or if they don't work, it will develop as a female even though it's got XY chromosomes.

If androgyny were our default state, then the lack of responsiveness to testosterone would produce androgynous babies, not female babies.

Technically hormones mostly play a role in how much body hair, voice pitch and muscle mass a person has as far as genes go. A person with large amounts of testosterone will find it easier to build muscle as can be seen with Gaby Garcia and Hafthor Bjornsson.

I've seen people who were born XY and look "feminine" but if you look closely you can tell they are still males, due to their bone structure. look at Alessandro Moreschi who was a Eunuch. He lost his sex organs before puberty but he maintained a androgynous appearance.

Yeah, all that is beside the point. It's that if we were by default phenotypically angrogyous, then people whose bodies did not respond to the presence of testosterone *at all* during development would take on androgynous physical properties. However, they don't - if your body doesn't respond at all to testosterone (your androgen receptors are missing or don't work), you will develop as a female. That gives credence to the idea that we're all female by default.

And, as I said before - if you take away most of a man's testosterone, he'll simply take on female characteristics. If you take away most of a man's estrogen, he'll die.

Female as when the person still has only one X chromosome in the womb? Maybe externally they have a "proto female body" but internally it's "gender neutral". However, even if the specific male doesn't respond to the testosterone, he will still be biologically male because of his chromosomes and those 6,500 genetic differences. Now, those differences are nearly invisible to the human eye such as hair and skin texture, body structure and function. Which is why they are internal differences.

Androgynous features aren't referring to the genitals, that would make the person a hemophrodite. Androgyny is referring to the body shape including facial shape. Most males that are androgynous do appear to look "feminine" so you are right in that the external human body has feminine characteristics by default but he still has masculine genes (at least 6,500) that are not visible to the human eye.

However it is incorrect to say that every man was once a woman, that makes it sound like men mutated to become men. Then people would start to claim that there is "only one sex". When both males and females start to form in the womb, both only have one X which technically means that it's gender neutral since there is only one chromosome. That's why it used to be referred to as the gender neutral stage. I rather call it gender neutral stage in order to avoid confusion.

None of that is true. Eggs have only X, but sperm is X XOR Y. Gender is determined only upon fertilization of the egg, at which time it is X XOR Y. Physical sexual characteristics have to develop, but the sex is already determined and cannot be changed.

People and all but a few species of animals start as male XOR female.

Those who wish to believe they are something they are not are by definition mentally ill. People can pretend all day long, but the moment they believe their fantasy, they cross the line.

The idea that men and women have over 6500 genetic difference would be really interesting, but the majority of them are probably things we don't even see or notice. There can't possibly be 6500 conspicuous differences between men and women, so effectively the number would be much smaller.

There is proof of 6,500 differences but yes you are right, most of them we can't notice unless we look very closely like hair texture, bone structure and even the potency of flatulence varies between men and women (Women having the stronger smelling flatulence).

The Egg already has the X, and when the sperm comes in, it usually transfers over the X or the Y. so the child is neutral at first until it matures into either male or female in the womb by the genetics passed onto it. I think I will be happy just to know I was having a kid, I don't care if I have a boy or girl, as long as he or she is healthy and I am there for them while growing up.

Yes "Gender Neutral" is the word. I think the fully developed female resembles the neutral form more than the fully developed male. Testosterone is responsible for the change.
