Dont cross alone be it by car or plane. By this I mean let an. Immigration attorney on the ground in the US know your plane or car schedule. If you are improperly and/ or unlawfully detained the first thing ICE will do is take your phone. You are most at peril as a legal resident or citizen of Middle Eastern background crossing by car from Canada.
Last year three different cars cars from the same wedding in Canada Crossing at three different states were stopped and 'iceboxed for hours'. One of the men was a surgeon and was on call.

Know you have rights but prepare for the worst case where low level ICE and immigration officials are confused about the law and what they should and shouldn't do.
It doesn't always make them a bad person or meaning to do harm there is just a lot of confussion so the best thing you can do is make sure a lawyer knows they need to show up at the airport or point of entry you're being detained at if you 'go dark' and don't respond to their outreach efforts to confirm you securely made it into the states.

Actually Canada is MORE THAN HAPPY TO KEEP THEM AND IT IS GROWING THEIR ECONOMY.
This is known as a brain drain. Highly qualified workers emigrating to a country because their home country has become hostile towards them or is collapsing.
The US received many Syrian physicians that now look to Canada, same with Tech and Engineering.

Chinese people were less than 1% the population. Even when we pulled people in from Europe it wasn't exactly a melting pot. Everybody had enough land to segregate themselves until they became acclimated to the culture. I still wish we never let the irish in though.
