5 Women of POWER and Their Stories

Here are 5 women in history with power to their name. I'm not saying these women were heroes or that they all had the worlds best interest at hear. This is just a list of strong powerful women and I will be leaving people like Rosa Parks out because let's face it, they are very well known and women you probably heard about in school at least 3 times every year.

So let's start this list off with a bang or a masker shall we?

1. Boudica (she is my personal favorite )

Boudica was the queen of the British Celtic Iceni tribe. After her husband's death, she became the sole leader of her people. The Celtic politics were not sexist. A woman had just as much right to lead as a man did. The Romans came to her village and made an example of her and her two daughters by tying her to a post and beating her with whips for resting and raped her 2 virgin daughters deeming them unmarriageable. Back then rape had another meaning other than the devastating act itself, it also meant that you were under control of the empire and were defeated.

They had no idea who they were dealing with. HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE A WOMAN SCORNED. Boudica and her people, filled with anger for this act, demanded revenge on the Romans and vowed to drive them out. They were going to war. Men, women, young, and old, if you could hold a weapon and were willing to fight, they were going. And Boudicca had no intention of hiding behind her army. She was on the front lines of the fight. She burned the three main Roman cities to the ground so nothing was left standing but ash, Verulamium, Londinium, and Camulodunum, killing 70 thousand people, and came damn close to driving them out of Britannia. She was one fight away from driving them out.

2. Madame Cheng

Everyone loves a good pirate tale, right? Well guess what? The best pirate in history was a woman known as Madame Cheng. She was never defeated. She was offered a deal from the Chinese Emperor, he paid her off and took the bounty off her head if she promised to stop her reign of terror.(basically he said I will make you rich if you just stop stealing shit, fuck just stop)

3. The Trung sisters

They were born in a military family of Vietnam. The Chinese kept taxing their people and they stood up and said they had nothing more to give, you need to stop. When they didn't, they went against the emperor and made an army. The Chinese knew they were forming an army but did not care, believing them to be foolish women who could do no damage. They recruited 35 other women including their mother to be generals, teaching these farmers to fight, how to use armor, and creating an army of 80 thousand. They destroyed the Chinese forts that were residing in their lands.

4. Khutulun

Now I could tell you about her but I won't because I think these girls do it better.

5. Nzinga of Ndongo

I'm probably going to let the video do most of the talking about this badass, mostly out of fear of misspelling something important, and I'm sure my long texts on these women have probably bored you to death, but mostly because I really truly can't spell all these names. I'm sorry.

A top 5 of mine that comes to mind right now would be
1) Joan of Arc, the Fiery Joana, the Maid of Orleans. The teenage girl that changed the destiny of France and her tactics are still used by french military.

2) Penthesilea, a Queen of the legendary Amazons race, the ancient female warriors. Lived during the Trojan wars and was killed by noone less but the fiercest of men, the demigod Achilles, and after a long, savage battle, even Achilles sunk in sorrow and regret for killing such a noble warrioress.

3) Emilia Platter, Polland's female warlord. After being raised on the legends of other famous women warriors (including that of Laskarina Bouboulina the brave heroine of the greek revolution epos against the ottoman tyrrany), she gave up a life of aristocratic luxury and raised her own regiment of 350 partisans to fight against Russia. After leading her small army at the battles of Prastavoniai and Mejszagoła, the young leader was awarded a captaincy in the Polish–Lithuanian 25th Infantry Regiment. Plater commanded a company of troops in the unit for most of 1831 until she fell ill in December in the field. She succumbed to a fever two days before Christmas.

4) Tomoe Gozen. A female samurai living in the 1100s. Gozen was purportedly a title of respect given by her master, shogun Minamoto no Yoshinaka. Despite the fact that women in the 12th century didn’t typically receive martial arts training, Tomoe was skilled with a bow and arrow, sword, and horseback riding. Tomoe is described as “a remarkably strong archer, and as a swordswoman she was a warrior worth a thousand, ready to confront a demon or a god, mounted or on foot.” Her skill earned her the privilege of leading men into battle in an era when women couldn't even fathom joining the male samurai ranks.

The Pirate Queen (1530 – 1603) was Grace O’Malley of the famed O’Malley clan of Mayo. Her father was a chieftain and sea trader and she learned how to handle herself on his ships.
Striking out on her own she became known as the Pirate Queen capturing English ships and taking their cargo.
The English moved against her, but she went to London and met the Virgin Queen, Elizabeth the First, who recalled her armies and released O’Malley's family who were being held by the English. She lived to a ripe old age.
Grace O’Malley was the subject of a Broadway show a few years back called “The Pirate Queen.”

Constance Gore Booth was an unlikely 1916 revolutionary. She was from wealthy Anglo Irish stock and grew up on a rich estate in Sligo. She married a Polish count.
However, she soon identified with Irish nationalism and became a major player in the Irish Citizen Army, founded by James Connolly, and dedicated her life to the poor.
She fought at St Stephen’s Green in 1916 and was sentenced to death, which was later commuted. She was the Minister for Labour in the first Irish government, only the second woman in Europe to get a government ministerial role. She fought on the Republican side in the Irish Civil War. She died in 1927 at 59 from complications from appendicitis.

Countess Markievicz. A contemporary of Countess Markievicz. Born to wealth in Britain she discovered her revolutionary zeal in France and then went to Ireland. She founded the Daughters of Ireland and had a long and tempestuous affair with WB Yeats but refused to marry him.
In 1918 she almost died after being arrested for nationalist agitation. She married 1916 revolutionary Major Sean MacBride and their son Sean MacBride won the Nobel Prize for peace.

Betsy Gray (died 1798) was an Ulster-Scots Presbyterian peasant girl from outside Lisburn in Co. Antrim in what is today Northern Ireland who was killed as part of the 1798 Rebellion of the United Irishmen. She is the subject of many folk ballads and poems written since her time down to the present day.
She fought in the Battle of Ballynahinch against the Yeomanry and was killed in retreat along with her brother and lover. She had her right hand cut off before she was decapitated.
She is a folk hero to all in Ulster, with both loyalists and republicans claiming her as their own, as typified by the centenary celebrations in 1898 where locals broke a monument to her sooner than let Nationalists, who have a ceremony in her honour.

The Celts invaded first, one of their chieftains Brennus laid waste to Italy and sacked Rome in 387 BC while Rome was just a weak city state. Yes the Romans killed a great deal, but they never killed everyone in a city, sometimes they enslaved entire cities, but in general they preferred to preserve the lands they conquered. Populations in those lands actually grew after Rome conquered them, because Roman farming methods were incredibly efficient by the standards of that era.

FYI, women in our military, particularly in the fighting ranks, are actually making our military less effective. Over the past 10 years, many of our best fighting men have left the services or taken early retirement because they can't deal with the lowered standards and political correctness necessary to attract women into the ranks.

Also, your cousin must be a wuss if he hasn't kicked your ass yet. Back when I was in grade school I was beaten up several times by the tomboy / bull dyke who lived across the street. Like I said I don't have a choice if I don't do it I get bitched at for hours on end pulse I can't stand dishes piled to the point of over flowing on to the conters I can't stand the mess it drives me mentally bonkers. It has got better sence Jon Jon came home he helps me with the house work because he can't stand the mess either
