Meh, if I had a cake shop, you'd basically pick from an assorted array of decorative cakes. A disclaimer would be made that any customization is at the discretion of the owner (meaning he/she doesn't have to make anything they don't want). Otherwise, I'd reluctantly end up in the erotica cake business.
I have to disagree. Making a cake requires creativity, if the couple wants to have a LGBT style cake and the person making the cake is not comfortable with using his or her creativity to produce such a cake then that person should not be obligated to make it.
Then he should have just said no, not made it a big thing.
@BaileyisDarcy some gay couple sued the bakery that refused to make an LGBT cake for them. So it's now kinda new business - insult religious people and then take their money through the court. There are lots of questions on this site about that.
@Jan_Classic sounds fair... businesses shouldn't have the right to discriminate like that. If they don't wanna serve homosexuals then don't get into the cake business because gay people will come to your store for cakes...

@Alpha89s It's just ridiculous not even just for that, but the fact that homosexuality can be hidden, you can't just look at some one and decide you hate who they are (unless they shove it in your face). It doesn't have to be a part of their identity so 'haters' can always leave them alone.
Black people look black, you can tell from across the street, you can see it in their pictures, heck even for some you can hear it in their names if you want to discriminate against them you can very easily. It's not something that can be 'changed' it's not something that can be hidden, it's not AT ALL the same. I'm not even African American, I'm black British but because the QA went and did that the whole take just pissed me off. Don't lump us in the same group.

I had a discussion 2 years ago with hardcore sjw... and she keeps mentioning the other races, women or lgbt in a away that victimize them instead of ACTUALLY treat them like any other normal human beings.
I asked her ( the sjw ) why don't you actually stop victimizing these people and treat them just like the way you treat us? like a normal people?

Discrimination knows no specific race, gender, ability, or sexuality. The definition does not read: "if you are black, etc." I know you may want to feel like you are the only one who has suffered deeply because of your skin color, and perhaps you have... I don't know you... but discrimination can affect anyone who is denied fair treatment based on arbitrary things like skin color or sexuality. If you know a thing or two about American history, blacks and gays did in fact fight side by side for civil rights because originally the message was equality for all and civil rights for all. People are stronger together than they are apart. When you put yourself in a box and say, I'm only concerned about my own rights and my own discrimination, who the hell else outside your race is going to want to stand up and fight for you. Civil rights laws in this country were not just won by blacks alone.
They were won in conjunction with a lot of other "human" beings who looked around and thought this is not right for anyone, yes, anyone to be treated like this. You are not the only one who knows a lot of treatment towards blacks is not right in the same way you should open your eyes and say, when they treat gay persons this way---there should be at base, some level of understanding that it is equally not right and thus a comparison is made.

As a private entity that government has no right to regulate, I reserve myself the right to not do business with whoever the fuck I want for whatever reason I want.

@ladsin Yes, I'm aware many laws of the liberal states of America are less than ideal.
There are literally dozens of laws that regulate private business including as mentioned, the civil rights act. I can't for example, just decide that because I have enough money, I'm going to build a private zoo in the middle of main street and have wild animals roaming freely on the grounds. And if you are such a person that believes that the US is being "liberal" by allowing blacks to receive equal service, education, jobs, I'd say you are or are on your way to receiving your racist badge of the year.
Imagine your government told you that you have to accept every person that rings on your doorbell for an afternoon cup of tea.
Would you be ok with that? Or would you perhaps think that government has no right to dictate who you let inside of your private property?

@ladsin Yes, I think that civil rights act or any "anti-discrimination" law in general is "less than ideal" or garbage in other words.
Anti-discrimination laws aim to "protect rights" of the public by infringing on the rights of business owners and are a form of authoritarian government intervention.
A privately run business should have the right to deny service to anyone they want for any reason they want just as much as the public has the right to choose a different entity to do their business with.
Let the free market dictate its own course.

Yeah, there are a lot of tattoo artists who will not do racially offensive, or just offensive or sexual tattoos on anyone, because like I said, that to me is where I draw the line with my own business, when what I'm putting my name on has to do with my knowledge of someone actively portraying hatred or vile behavior against another. Just being gay or straight for that matter, has no affect on who I do business with because I intend to make profit and grow and that's that.
I think it's humorous that people use the exact same arguments to justify refusal of service that people were using 50 years ago to justify the I'll-treatment of black people and they say "well that's different." "How?" "Because..."
Exactly one of my main arguments here. The same type of people held up bibles, the same types of people said, it's my business butt out, the same people claimed that they were justified, and so black people, in that case, fought hard against such laws, the same as this gay couple is trying to do now, and yet you have comments like, the gays are just shoving their gayness in our faces by trying to get more than they deserve. All they wanted was a cake for their wedding. Something you eat and crap out. A cake is not a written proclamation that you support the so called gay agenda, it's just cake!
Right. It's sad that this is a conversation that needs to be had, but it's necessary to fight ignorance.
I wonder if fifty years from now we'll all be telling stories to our grandchildren about how we were around when whether the LGBTQ+ community would be allowed rights was an actual argument...

He's a terrible businessman. The goal of the business is to make money, so why the heck a business owner want to refuse people to spend money there? Also, the United States is a pro-LGBTQ country. So, if a business owner refuses a gay people, that's a bad image on the business. As a business, you want no bad press.
in my opinion it doesn't matter if a baker refuse to bake a cake for me or not. if he/she does then I'll just take my money some place else, it's their lost then. I have plenty of other options to choose from, but if they keep picking clients based on something like that I doubt they will last much longer.
You can do business with who you like. if you don’t there is always someone else who will.

@Ironic_Pepe This is... ridiculous. Its a basic right, and not only that, refusing to allow them to marry is a basic human right. For fucks sake, this is exactly like saying "Oh, lets allow the Southern States to deny African Americans the right to marry!"

Well, I believe he can choose whom he wants to serve & not. But announcing the reason to the public was a stupid move, he should've just said "No, I won't do it." & that's it.
No federal law requires businesses to serve all customers without regard to their sexual orientation, but 21 states have “public accommodations” laws that prohibit discrimination against gays and lesbians.
It isn't hard to sale something to a person. What they are has nothing to do with your business or them as a customer.
As the law stands you have to look at the person their ability to the job not their sexual orientation.

Where have you been? At least in the US, people are already compelled to provide service to certain individuals by law. You cannot deny someone a seat on a bus or an education for example, because they are a woman or black or disabled even if you hate those groups with all your heart. People had to fight for those rights, and for me personally, I don't think this is any different.

No they wouldn't! Which is all the MORE reason to bring back "seperate but equal"! If certain parts of this country want a white ethno-state, or whatever, they should have the CHOICE to do it! Keep BIG government out of individual choices. The state should NEVER compel people to give their labor to another person.
