I have a personality disorder that is caused by being raised by someone who has it. I know that I shouldn't have children.
It the short and SFW version: I have a condition that I don't want to pass on.
Various methods of modification are in the works, and will be coming within a decade. Read Greg Bear's QUEEN OF ANGELS (1990) for more on that.
These are good points for avoiding awkward situations with the child-free. I have a few friends who are child-free and I don't talk about my kids much with them, so I haven't made any of these fax paxs. It's good to be made aware of them, though- thanks!
I'm not going to read this, because frankly I don't care. If I have a question to ask, I am going to ask it. If I feel like I need to say something, I am going to say it. I am not going to tiptoe around somebody else's lifestyle, nor do I expect them to do the same for me. I don't care what someone is doing with their life if it doesn't affect me.
I'm single, its not that I don't want to have children one day... I NEED to have children one day. Can you imagine if all people suddenly started to say... "why have kids?" You would find earths population down to zero in 120 years. Oh who cares, life doesn't matter anyways. Right?
-If you want to know the answer to the age old question, "what is the meaning of life?"... ask your kids. Believing in Jesus is the other main half.

Nope. First to each their own. Seco d that would be great on the planet if we reduced our population, that obviously is though to be stubborn and not give sh*t about. Third, stress-free life. Not sure what's wrong with some people that don't want kids. Oh and do t forget how many people shouldn't ever have kids, because they aren't fit for it. Some can't even afford kids too. There's also the people that have toi many kids. So the moral of the story is, everyone can decide if they want kids or not.

@Paul09 "religion" is such a political term. I myself will be only a Christian and nothing else. If you want to be technical, whatever belief system you hold so dear even if it's not believing in anything is a religion in itself.
Nice try. Religion is worshiping a invisible being. I worship nothing and no one. Don't need religion to tell me how to live my life. Man created God. You belive in that, that's your thing. Religious people choose what parts they want to believe in their Bible or whatever else. Barley any religious person follows 100%. So what happens to people that don't want to have kids? Are they bad people to you? Are they ruining anything? What does your imaginary god say about it?

@dolemite68 The act of procreation exposes someone to harm, pain, suffering and miseries in this kind of a world, thus it is indeed selfish. No one needs to be born. No one needs to become added into this world, as everyone that has ever been added to this world is going to become subtracted from it eventually and inevitably. In other words, by creating a life, you'd enable and expose someone to all those bad things in life they'd have to go through and they'd also be given a death, since all lives end eventually.
Oh good, more speech-policing, we haven't got enough of that yet.
I'm one of those people who is leaning more towards not having kids, but I'm not going to demand that people don't say certain things to me. I'm a big girl, I can take it.

@MsLoli The trick is to not give a fuck what others think or say about you. Besides, if things go bad with their kids as anything can happen from what their kids do or had done to let them down and feel very disappointed to tragic and horrible things like being a victim to a horrible crime or accident, and then maybe they'll finally understand it the hard way as to why some people choose to not have kids, because they recognize that this is a big gamble with one's emotions and as well as to someone's well-being once they are brought into existence here in this world.
Take care of you when you're old? More like burn up your retirement savings so they can "find themselves".

Oswald Spengler was right, this is the decline of the west. Dont worry though, I won't say anything bad to child free people I might even hurt their fragile feelings, I won't let my children grow up around such a nihilistic pathogen anyway.
Why are we making a thing out of this? There were always people who didn't want kids, but you are making it sound like they are a different species. Do you all have such a strong need to feel like special snowflakes, so you make up terms for everything?

And the term snowflake I picked up from Fight Club, where Tyler Durden explains exactky how you are NOT a special and unique snowflake. If a person wants to be special, they need to achieve something amazing, be famous for it or whatever. And if we taught people that, the society would get more productive as well. But teaching people they are special just because they exist is like those participation trophies, or football with no keeping scores - simply retarded.
