A guy yelling "Hey bring that sugar my way baby!" from across the street (which isn't nice) isn't exactly the same as someone at the bus stop saying "Hello, how are you on this beautiful morning?" (which is)
But random strangers tryna pick up a new one night stand and gentlemen striking up a friendly conversation is something women can determine pretty quickly. Which is why the polite guys gets a smile and a wave and the cat caller gets a finger... or a restraining order.

While I agree that most of what the poster has illuminated is aggressive and sophomoric there's still the condition of reaction responsibility that has not been addressed, just victim narrative.
I think we're coming from two very different angles here. Okay, so 'catcalling' as I understand it, is *only* someone yelling something sexual or inappropriate at a passerby, whether that's down the street, on the road, across the workplace, whatever. As the author said, a few women like this, FEW, and recent studies state that over 95% of women greatly dislike it. There are almost no cases where a girl who has something screamed at her about her ass is going to feel safe & complimented by that. I mean if there's a victim there's a perpetrator, right? If women have so repeatedly and unanimously showed they don't like this, what is your solution to a situation like that?
