40 years ago every pickup truck in a school's parking lot had a rifle in the window and there were no school shootings. what changed?

40 years ago, many schools taught shooting as a sporting skill or via junior ROTC. As you said, guns were in plenty of vehicles, in plain sight.

40 years ago, virtually zero kids were on anti-depressants, which are known to have homicidal/suicidal tendencies for many users. Nearly every mass shooter, school or otherwise, has been on anti-depression medications.

just get some real security and metal detectors at the doors. all of them. never hear of these types of things from inner city schools because they all already got metal detectors and cops there to keep this from happening.

but it would stop them from hurting people inside the school. then when school lets out just like in the inner city schools have the real cops not those old people with walkie talkies (thats what they did at my school no wonder people were fighting literally every day) go out there and make sure nothing happens.

But it doesn’t help the shooter. What if he goes and shoots up a different school that doesn’t have metal detectors?(as slim of a chance as that is). I see what you’re saying and it’s a smart idea, but think about how much the school would have to pay to hire security guards, get regulated metal detectors, while effectively not helping the shooter’s mental problems.

i think that mental health classes should be required just as much as physical health. like they make you take gym class and they should also make you take something like a mindfulness class
