Privilege is not being denied employment explicitly and openly because of your skin color (and gender for that matter).
Privilege is not being demonized for every crime your ancestors may or may not have committed.
Stop playing the victim, take responsibility, and start recognizing the privileges you have.
Take responsibility for what? Your privilege. You anti-PC guys parrot so much crap it is hard to fathom.

Take responsibility for your own actions and circumstances obviously. Yes there are injustices out there but don't beat it on people who have no part in it.

We were privileged before they abolished slavery, but not now, blacks can vote and run for office same as us. The most privileged people in the world are the Jews, Jewish bankers control all the money in the world and lend to their own people at more favorable rates than they lend to us, that's why all Jews are rich and successful and it's impossible for normal people like me to catch a break.

poor white people who are just trying to pay bills, support families and put food on the table aren't exactly feeling any benefits of "white" privilege. Especially straight, poor white guys.
They also got hit very hard by the recession back in '08 since it severely impacted construction and development.
And I absolutely agree. I would be go further than that. Many "White" people have cultural issues. Just like many "Black" people. They are in a culture of ignorance or one of violence. There are communities just likes ones among Latinos, "Blacks" and Arabs where there is rampant sexism, etc.
But privilege says that "Whites" cannot/should not be profiled for negative behaviors, while non-"White" groups can.
I dunno. A remember a few years ago I was walking outside of a grocery store and used my backpack to carry groceries. I had a Gatorade in the expandable webbing pocket. I was so broke at the time I didn’t even own a car.
A Latino kid out of nowhere says “you know why you put that Gatorade in there like that... you’re WHITE that’s why”. And then says “I like burritos and tacos”. I then responded “well I guess stereotypes exist for a reason”. He didn’t like that but another guy inbetween us to stop things from escalating.
I can take a jab from my ethnic friends. We give each other shit all the time. I like that, relieves the tension. But this was a COMPLETE stranger saying this shit. If a random white guy said that to a Latino or black person he didn’t know there would be WW3.
There is an acceptable racism with bashing white people right now. Some minorities see it but others embrace it.

Do I believe racism exists today? Yes it will always exist. But you Jim Crowe is a thing of the distant past. But there is this zero sum game attitude that “well your ancestors did this so we should be able to do this” that is holding EVERYONE back. Race will always be an issue but why does it always have to be THE issue?
by the way I do believe there is an issue with law enforcement and minorities. But I think it’s way more complicated than most people give a chance to think through.

@wil-i-am I think that is wrong. Poor "White" people have suffered tremendously. Maybe the suffering is different because, no one blames "Whiteness" for the plight of poor "Whites".
Which could possibly be worse from a point of view. Poor "Whites" are still poor, still neglected with problems of drug abuse, absentee fathers, broken families, etc.
And sure, a minority of them might still think they are better than "Black" people because of their skin color. But I don't think that delusion should count when it comes to trying understand their issues.

In the last few years I’ve developed more relationships with people of color and it’s been very rewarding. I spent most of my 20s as a cage fighter and the gyms were usually working class white guys, black guys, Latinos, a couple Asians (not many), Pacific Islanders.
We give each other shit sometimes (I had white bit syndrome with my boxing lol... but I made up for it with jiu jitsu). But it was real. When you train and fight someone you really know what they are like. Skin color don’t matter.
I’ve also dated several non white girls. One of my closest friends and confidantes is a black pastor. I’m renting a room to a guy from Kenya in a condo i own.
Point being is yeah we notice the racial differences. Maybe joke or occasionally get into conversations about it. But we aren’t fucking wigging out and doing stupid shit like marching or blocking highways. That shit only pisses white people off including poor white people who no one gives a shit about.
There is right way and wrong way to approach racial problems. As for the law enforcement issue I think there’s is some animosity towards African Americans because o the hip hop culture (NWA) that was so huge over the years. It makes some cops jaded and they take mental shortcuts. Is that okay? Hell no! But you got see how they see cultural problems.

Privilege is something we should all strive for. If you have it , you should never feel bad about it. To me white privilege is a trivial issue. If you wanna be happy and successful. Work hard it's really that simple.
Well, I am not here posting that "White" people should do something about it. But if you are raising a non-"White" child and you neglect to inform him/her of the obstacles they face, that is on you.

Remember, white privilege is systemic and not at all obvious to (many of) the people who benefit from it because they don't experience what it's like not to have it.

I'm just here to point out that there are many countries that are mostly white where we're all just white and it has no benifit. This "privlige" you speak of are just encounters with more or less racist people. We all have our struggles, what matters most is how we deal with them. People may think that life is somehow "better/easier" being white but it isn't. We ourselves forge our futures, no one will do it for us no matter what.
Oh, I understand. I have been to a lot of European nations. And I know a bit about ethnic strife. But Europe is different than America. There is nationalism. I'm white, so why am I still expected to work hard day and night and shed my own blood, sweat, and tears for every little thing I want?

Have you ever not been hired for your skin color? Have you had people cross the street to avoid you or assumed you were a crook? Have you dealt with people picking on your hair and your heritage? Have you been pulled over for being white? When you deal with police, have you been treated with excess aggression out of fear of your color? Have you been denied promotions for your color? The list goes on and on.
My mother has worked at her company as a great employee for years. When they opened a new building, they asked who wanted to transfer. She was one of the first to request the transfer. Everyone who requested a transfer got the transfer... except for my black mother. Her coworkers were shocked that she was left behind when no one else was.
Then, my mother requested a job change in her place of employment to a job that would be less painful on her aging body. They told her they would think about it. A newer and much younger girl in her 20's started working there and requested the same new station after only a few weeks. They gave it to the new girl over my mother. Say what you want. It's NOT about who's working harder. There are many places of employment where you can put in blood, sweat, and tears for years and never be given a chance due to your boss not valuing you as a human due to your color.
Look, the whole point I was trying to make is that I work just as hard if not harder than everyone else and everything I accomplish is immediately brushed aside as being "white privilege". Don't get me wrong, I'm not seeking validation or anything childish like that. I just don't take too kindly to people assuming that just because I'm white, I don't have to work for anything when I so clearly do. You wanna talk about racism, that's some straight up racism right there. But then again "only white people can be racist". I've heard that one before.

That's what it's like to not have white privilege. If these things happened to you regularly, would you just accept it or would you want to have equal treatment to what you have now. Wth is white culture? To me it's just no culture. Personally I see most discrimination based upon class, not race. But that's my own microcosm in the world.
Well, maybe that is the way things are in your country. I live in the U. S. We use identifiers "White", "Black". . . we used to use "Yellow" and "Red". But we stopped with that nonsense. I guess folks learned that saying that there is a such thing as "Yellow" and "Red" people is just plain stupid.
One day we will use the term African-American for "Black" folks and "White" people will choose a name that is actually reflective of their culture.
