SO glad that Trump doesn't recognize this ridiculous "pride month" crap.
NEVER have and NEVER will.
I wn't tell them how to live their life.
Stop it. Get some help.
Sorry Im late to say so, but... NOPE. Imma burst into rainbows and be happy af about it. Deal wit it. :p
A nation that elects trump does NOT care about LBGT rights.
Well, I still care and so do so many other people.
Don't get me wrong I am 100% pro LBGT. I am still livid at all the gay people who vote republican. They are hypocrites and they stabbed all of us in the back!
I'd say let people celebrate what they want.
Hopefully now that it's July, all of that nasty stuff will be kept quiet for another year.
Everyone has a month so they’re not special
They’re not trying to say they’re” special”. That’s not the point
That’s the only point in having a month
I don't support this, either.
I would like to see this banned
And I would like to see you drowned. Or well, you are "of the sea" so I guess you'd just float?
Too bad it never will
Here's an opinion blablablablablablablablah
Really? You need a fucing month?
Why not? You have the rest of the year.
@DinaM the whole month? For real?
Can you give me a good reason why not?
@DinaM
For me, work is much more important than celebrating idiosyncrasies.
For LGBT people, it’s good that you’re recognized now, but it doesn’t mean you are any special.
It's not about being special, it's about being accepted.
And that "work is much more important than celebrating idiosyncrasies" comment doesn't even make sense. How does Pride Month in any way interfere with anyone working?
@DinaM if it’s not so special, why do you need a whole month? Can’t you do one day?
Won’t be that good enough?
I have seen a lots of LGBT attention seekers who are superficial.
And I have seen a lot of straight people who are superficial. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with depth.
And no, one day isn't "good enough." I told you, Pride Month is about being accepted, not about being "special." Acceptance takes TIME.
Sometimes it takes a very long time for LGBTQ people to accept themselves and to know where they fit in. It may take family members longer to accept our truth, if at all. It's not something that can be done in a day. Hell, it's not really something that can be done in a month, but at least we can have that month.
@DinaM just because someone has different sexual orientation, it doesn’t mean he/she/x deserves an award.
I rather celebrate handicap day than this.
There are much more important things than sexual orientations.
Nobody's asking for an award. All we want is acceptance. Problem is that people won't give us even that.
I think everyone deserves to be accepted for who they are, regardless of orientation or gender... but LGBTQ people often AREN'T accepted. We're told to be ashamed of what we are, we're told that we're delusional, mentally ill, that we're unnatural and sinners and that we're reprehensible and icky and what have you.
So yes. In June we take to the streets. We put aside our fears and remember the brave people who stood up to hate after the policed raided The Stonewall Inn in New York City in 1968. We wave our flags, show our hearts, and demand equality with a fevered need to be accepted.
We use Pride Month as a way to be seen. We harness the momentum of the sometimes stalled equal rights movement and show off: This is who we ARE, and we're not going to hide it just because you can't accept that people have different orientations.
@DinaM you’re thinking that i hate them but I don’t.
I agree with your points.
But month long?
Do you think hate will turn into love if you keep rubbing them in their faces for a month?
They will hate even more.
Well, if we just keep our heads down, say nothing and pretend we aren't what we are, then certainly nothing is GOING to change. People who hate are going to hate anyway, but people who don't know or don't understand, might learn. And with learning comes understanding, and with understanding comes acceptance. It's a slow process, but it works.
It is largely thanks to things like Pride Month, to the demonstrations and the, as you say "rubbing it in your faces" that LGBTQ people are more accepted now, that more countries are including gay rights and actually making it illegal to prosecute those of alternate sexualities. Even if we still have a long way to go, things ARE getting better. And they wouldn't have if we just kept quiet and pretended there wasn't anything wrong.
And no, I don't think you hate. I do think you don't accept, but that's neither here nor there.
@DinaM ok i am sorry that I tried to explain that one month pride is idiotic.
Good luck 🍀
I am not sorry for disagreeing.
