THANK you. At least one guy gets it. Feminism was originally a movement for equality and that's what it should still be and always be! It's because people have ruined the meaning of the term that some of us can't call ourselves feminists but simply "people who support gender equality".

It is true, what you write, and I wholeheartedly agree. Sadly, as long as the media gives the Chanty Binx's of the world a microphone, most men will turn their backs on feminism.

When my daughter asked me if I was a feminist, I said "no". Because she was already equal under the law and in my heart, and feminists were going off-the-rails crazy in California. She got it, bless her heart.

I have no need to "brush up" on feminism. I lived through the second wave of feminism, and it was just as much BS as the so-called third wave. The thing is about second wave, is that the vast majority of women thought it was BS also. Third wave is even more BS.

I will never ever support feminism, and will continue to fight against it until it's completely obliterated.

Another post of "Guys I know feminists today are evil but according to the dictionary definition that's not REAL feminism!"

Just. Give. Up. Feminism is a toxic word. It's beyond salvage. It's like "rat poison" or stuff. You're not bringing it back to being a nice word.

If feminists want feminism to not be a "negative" word, they have to reform their movement, but that's not what happens. Many feminists who are among the more rational ones still ignore the issues they have within their movement by just brushing it aside by saying, "Not all feminists are like that". Yeah, we know not ALL feminists are like that, but you're not doing yourself any favors by ignoring it.

Agree. I believe in equal rights but respect different roles.

I believe in equality but not only with males or females. But also with straight people and those who are not; between white, black, and Asian; between various religions.

An equality with common sense applied.

Big issue with feminism is that every little sloot has her own little definition of it, and it's always used in a way to benefit them in that moment. Feminism is absolute shit and has ruined the dynamic in modern relationships. Men and women are different and there is nothing wrong with that. It's not a matter of inferiority or superiority but rather just recognizing the biological logic that we are in fact different.

Feminism :the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. It's sexist by definition and intent, focusing ONLY on the rights of women.

As long as toxic feminists act the way they do in the name of feminism, and other feminists LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT, the word is irrevocably tainted.

All the wishy washy hand waving dictionary clutching and earnest appeals won't EVER change that.

"While everybody who identifies as a feminist shares the same core belief"

Except they don't. As you pointed out there are extremists. While most adherents are traditional feminists who meet your definition, there are also groups who want to "kill all men." While they are not properly called "feminist" they identify as such themselves.

The movement is defined by those "extremists" because they're the loudest, the one people, medias and politicians listen to, and the one to make things change, often for the worse.
The "regular" feminists are nowhere to be found, they let the extremist take over and don't say a thing about it. Saying that they agree with it isn't far fetched.

A movement is defined by those its action and consequences. And who act in feminism? Feminazis.

This is honestly the dumb way to put it today. Sorry **not** sorry, but feminism in itself has been cursed by corruption and stirring of division and hatred. It can't be given any credibility today.

It doesn't look like it can be undone. Which is why I sometimes wonder if we really should look forward to the nuclear apocalypse to wipe off all humanity.

If that's the definition we are operating on, I'm not a feminist. Looking at all the terrible shit men do, why would I fight for my right to do it too?

I don't want to be equal with men, I want to be free of their influence

@MsElizabeth96 actual Nazis hate feminism, that term has never made sense to me. I prefer the equally stupid term "cultural Marxist" ;)

Hate to say it, but the misandrists cannot simply be ignored here. They're a big problem, and not just one of image.

Never heard anything that was under feminism that made sense. So I don't think its the meaning of it that is an issue, its ALL the meanings of it. Unless we going around killing women for shits and giggles I don't think feminism has any purpose. And that is not the case so...

Oh my god Im so happy for this take. Thanks so much for trying to let people see what it really is. I always get upset/sad when people bash on feminism or call feminazis feminists. I always try to explain it to them but no one listens. -_-

Feminism can be a good thing, sure. Just not in the U. S or some other places. FeminIsts have done and played their part. They are equal. There is no wage gap etc. Feminism however, would be very helpful in Islamic culture, where women are easily pushed around by men.

What did modern feminism give us? #metoo Hardly anything that we can use. The feminist mafia is destroying men's lives one by one with false accusations in order to advance the positions of women in society.

Focusing on sex is inherently sexist, just as focusing on race is inherently racist. I'm all for equality of opportunity in the sense of not discriminating against people BECAUSE of their sex or race, but the best way to do that is not to focus on their sex and race.

"At a core, feminism is simply the fight to have women equal to men in every way"
    1. No it's not -- you don't get to decide what it means to everyone.
    2. That definition wouldn't be a great thing anyway.
The dictionary definition doesn't prohibit the toxic things these so called "radicals" do. The theory is objectionable all on it's own without any extremists.
