I call those "artificial positions of authority". There are essentially two kinds of authority. One achieved through skill and/or knowledge in a certain field (or fields). And one given through social status (teachers, cops, etc.)
So cops are born with the training they have? And the average citizen has all the knowledge and abilities of a trained officer? Judging by how I've seen so many videos and 911 calls of citizens who don't even know what CPR is, I'm inclined to not believe that.
A professor is an authority on their certain area of expertise. They've become an authority in that field due to years of studying and research.
A police member might know CPR, however they're not an authority on the cardiovascular system like a heart specialist. However a senior Police officer would be an authority on policing, crime investigation, forensics etc etc.
This is authority through knowledge. There's then authority granted through law which is granted to you based on the knowledge and position that you hold. It's not fake or artificial, it's because these people have the necessary knowledge and training to make command decisions.
@jellyroo @Girther10 @Kkaos You guys clearly don't understood what I was saying. I even said "one achieved through skill and/or knowledge". So obviously a cop or a professor has skill (s) and/or knowledge of a certain kind. So within that limited field of expertise they are naturally authorities.
But to use the cop example. Just because he is trained with a gun and what the law says doesn't make him an authority of morality and ethics.
Thank you, everyone damn sure needed this, especially with all the ass Kissing from bluelivesmatter people. People are so biased that they don't want to believe the people they support do shitty things
If you want the ultimate power trip, then become a judge. Not only do you get power that most people can only fantasise about, you also get paid north of £100,000. Just waiting for them to let judges carry guns...
I agree. They belong on pedestals because of their character. Granted, we must remember that even the best of us are flawed every now and then. We should NEVER expect perfection, BUT we should strive for it - even if we'll never reach it.
Police is morals Superior if they catch you doing criminal shit. That's why I don't get this acab thing... Just stop doing illegal stuff and cops will be nice to you
Well, I would say a DOCTOR deserves a little more respect than someone who works in fast food... one job took years of hard work to even get, hundreds of thousands in College fees and well, it's much more serious and stressful...
Not everyone can become a doctor. Yes, it takes a lot of hours in school but it also takes luck to to be the sort of person able to get through medical school. I respect everyone who gets out of bed and goes to work to perform a service for me.
I never said screw them you did, just saying I've seen people who do there jobs get treated like royalty, like dont people realize they're just doing their jobs.

@FakeName123- you reply show your fake knowledge.

What did I say that was incorrect with regards to what you said?
You think gun training and knowledge of the law is the only things you need to certify as a cop?
@FakeName123- ok thanks for that. I understand and agree.
Thank you, everyone damn sure needed this, especially with all the ass Kissing from bluelivesmatter people. People are so biased that they don't want to believe the people they support do shitty things
Sorry but considering how little they're paid and how much they risk, they certainly deserve more praise than most other jobs.
true.

Simples...
I'm a judge
@BonnieBunny I’m an astronaut... lol

Until you are willing to put your life on the line... you should respect police officers.
Police is morals Superior if they catch you doing criminal shit. That's why I don't get this acab thing... Just stop doing illegal stuff and cops will be nice to you
Amen

Depends... Yeah, don't blindly trust people in these authoritative positions, but if you think they're good at what they do then may as well...
Nice take honey
And every job is a job and should be respected equally unless they involve some danger and stuff
It's pedal stool, not pedestal haha. Wtf is a pedestal? XD
It's an actual word.
Pedestal - a position in which someone is greatly or uncritically admired.
I agree, tired of treating people like they're king and queens because they save people... smh
Yeah, screw the people that help society and keep us safe.
@BonnieBunny XD yeah like they're just people who do their jobs. Cheif's aren't treated like kings and queens and they stop people from starving.
I was being sarcastic.
@BonnieBunny Yeah ik.
I never said screw them you did, just saying I've seen people who do there jobs get treated like royalty, like dont people realize they're just doing their jobs.
Some people have a vocation and should be respected but its always important to reserve judgement.
Morally superior? No. Maybe you should include the fake media too. They fell off any pedestal a loooooooooong time ago.
Lol if anything police are usually less morally superior, with all the corruption they pull
Absolumente, become a victim of wolf in sheep's clothing real quick.
A good take. Well made points worth considering. The police, doctors and religious orders have been a curse on Irish society over many decades.
disagree and im not surprised this was written by a teenager
Teachers are missing from this list. Their level of self entitled self designated importance is beyond pale.
definitely not all teachers.
No. I have a lot of respect for people that put their lives on the line to help to others.
