No, we didn't fight the Nazis. Directly. We did have a secret army, who helped Jews escape Germany and fought Nazis in secret, without identification of nationality.
Had we openly defied Hitler, he would have crushed us easily. He had his armies ready to take us down if he wished it, just like France. Our cities would have been bombed, our people would have been mass slaughtered. Our government made a tough desiscion, but as a result, Sweden emerged with the ability to engender prosperity after the war, because we were never marred by it.
Decry us as cowards all you want. But it's not all black and white.

My grandfathers cousin helped liberate one of the camps when he served with the U. S Army.
On my mothers side I have a family member who after seeing his friend blown apart on a beach , was eventually stationed on an island that got hit by a typhoon where the Navy forgot they had an outpost, he spent two weeks eating boot leather till the navy forgot their mistake.

If the American government had the choice between saving our own nation and fighting against the biggest army since Napoleon I have no doubt that we'd have chosen ourselves. The people of Sweden made a smart decision by not running into a suicidal mission which would've gotten their nation and it's people killed.
