30 rights that men and American women take for granted that are still privileges for many girls

Shezadi

A lot of American girls criticised my article on patriarchy and masculinity. My conclusion is they don't really understand what girls across the world go through. They take so many things so granted without even knowing. They don't know how cherished or privileged they are.

My university professor said "Liberal Americans live in bubbles." Sooooo true!!!

Dear American sisters: For many girls, being allowed to have birth was also a privilege, being accept by their fathers and grandmothers on day one, being allowed to go to school, to get a job, not getting married off before the age of 18, not being killed for having a boyfriend, being allowed to have a love marriage, being allowed to go for shopping on their own and wear what they want to wear.

These are like 9 big things that American girls take for granted, that western feminists take for granted. If those western feminists were dropped in a conservative or a developing country like Afghanistan, Iran, Syria or India, they will not survive for even one day.

It is very easy for a woman to call herself strong independent woman when she is in a developed country like America but those women who survive through bullshit in Afghanistan, Iran, Syria or India are strong. What they go through gives me shivers and it is emotionally draining to even hear their story, let alone going through it.

Anyone with white skin and boobs is not safe in Indian public places or hotels, watch the youtuber called Travellight, who shared her experience in India. She locked herself in a hotel room for 3 days because Indian men were standing out and one woman was begging her to marry her son.

Not to mention brothel villages in India and Bangladesh where children are forced into prostitution by their parents because of debt and poverty, and the policemen are customers. Debt is usually £800, something we don't consider a big amount.

A lot of respective male readers challenged me to mention privileges women don't have, and I made a list of 30 basic human rights which are still privileges for some women. Women have lost lives for some basic human rights we take for granted. This is more like a list of 30 crimes that traditionally only happen to women.

Crimes where mostly women are victims

1) Honour killings only happen to women and they rarely happen to men. Women have protested against honour killings, to fight for a woman's right to stay alive even if she gets married against her father's wish or gets caught having a boyfriend.

2) Women are being forced to have abort baby girls. To all the men complaining about gender equality, women were never forced to abort baby boys.

3) Women being shamed for giving birth to a daughter. Dear men, women were never shamed for giving birth to a son.

4) Women are not accepted by their husband and mother-in-laws when they don't give birth to a son.

5) Many daughters are not accepted by their fathers and grandmas on day one just after delivery, just because the family wanted a son and a grandson.

6) Men are not being shamed for wearing short clothes

7) Most men are allowed to have a love marriage

8) Men don't really get attacked by an acid for saying no to a relationship or after a break-up

9) Men don't usually get physically abused by their mothers, sisters or wives.

Sati is a goddess who burned herself and women were burned to remember that day but they forgot that she burned herself because of her father, because of a MAN. Yet, they chose to burn women to remember that day.

And when did a Indian Miss World spread awareness about female foeticide? I thought they were beauty with a "purpose" but they didn't really raise awareness of issues that women face in India like female infanticide, infant girls being abandoned and shot, honour killings, domestic abuse, dowry, forced marriages, rapes, forced prostitution, harassment.

Deepika Padukone was offended when she was asked about gender equality and rapes in India even though it is a reality.

Priyanka Chopra was offended when someone that Indians can't get speak English when a lack of education is the biggest cause of crimes against women.

Those people who are too arrogant and ignorant to speak about real life issues in their country like social issues, crimes and social injustice make MY BLOOD BOIL.

Indians and Pakistanis are too stubborn to accept the fact women ARE suffering in their country, even women refuse to accept just because nothing happened to THEM.
