Lynching, a form of violence in which a mob, under the pretext of administering justice without trial, executes a presumed offender, often after inflicting torture and corporal mutilation. The term lynch law refers to a self-constituted court that imposes sentence on a person without due process of law.

its dramatic but its true
it's dramatic but it's true

Social media or the internet in general have brought back a lot of beaviours that were overcome and mostly erradicated with great effort in society. This was mostly possible because people can be held acccountable in real life. But with the internet this is gone and now things that were gone and forgotten are spreading everywhere.

The whole #metoo and #cancelled trends are nothing but a modern day lynch mob. They're chasing that feeling that high of seeing themselves as the good people who will judge evil doers. There's a reason why we have a justice system in the real world because even though it's not perfect and it might be corrupt in some places the alternative is far worse. People in a frenzy going after the first person who is suspicious or just unpopular or weird.

Human behaviour doesn't change and I'm sure the people today cruscading on the internet are feeling the same things as people who were convinced they had the bad guy and wanted to make him pay back in the day.

I feel like we as humanity need to grow up again on the internet, learn how to behave responsibly and not act on the first emotion we feel. Even though lynching someone online is not as bad as in real life it can still have consequences. You see people hating on celebrities so much and when they kill themselves they start hating on the people around them for not being there for them.

There were actually people who hated on a Kpop idol because she didn't make an instagram post about her bandmate who had died. But she was at the wake for 2 days crying her eyes out. Just because you think you know everything and your moral compass is so on point doesn't mean it's true.

Peace
