8. I don't believe I am hated. I know I am hated. For no more of the crime of being of a certain culture, cherishing a certain history, and being proud of that. Not everyone has a problem with that. But some folks are willing to kill me over it. I can't tell you how many times I have had my life threatened online, merely for having my beliefs. I remember feeling ominous about going to a Thai restaurant where everyone who worked there was white - yes, it was on the low end of mediocre, though in fairness it was a small town so anything that doesn't come on a bun was a bonus. And many of the supporters of Donald Trump are a parody in and of themselves.
Sorry dude, that is just not true. Look around you. At GaG, it is "racist" to even suggest that "White" American culture may have some issues. They are not self-aware. But you will find hundreds, even thousands of critiques on African-Americans, even as we are nowhere near the majority here.
Even in a "Black" run, totally "Black" forum, you will find cultural critiques of "Black" people.
GaG has several people who are very prickly about such matters and who overreact to anything they feel threatens their world view. But I don't think they are the majority.
There hasn't been many critiques on "White" American culture at GaG. And in the mainstream, it has only been a recent development that people even admit that "White" American Culture even exists.
I have been studying it for over 20 years. Back then we called it Euro-American Culture.
But I can't find the old site of the old organization I joined. It is still out there somewhere.
There are a lot of white American subcultures, though I suppose you could say there enough common elements to define white American culture - but a lot of its elements are shared by non-white Americans, particularly those that aren't recent immigrants.
The same can be said about many groups. The point is that "White" American Culture hides. It is hidden in plain sight. A "White" movie critic will claim "Gone With the Wind" is the greatest movie ever without admitting to the cultural bias of being "White", American, and being raised in a specific culture with a specific experience.

And in the first 20 movies, you might be able to find two movies they consider worthy to be on the list that are not dominated by "White" Americans. But even liberals suffer the same issue. You are trying to define cultural objectively. I just don't understand why people keep trying to do this. You cannot tell a group of people they have something in common with another group. "Whiteness" has been clearly defined by "White" people over the centuries. How many "White" people get confused about what or who is "White" and what or who is not "White"?
I disagree. For much of our history, Southern Italians, Portuguese, Jews, and many others weren't considered fully "white". So the idea that there was some clear demarcation of what is white and what isn't is just not true. Is Barack Obama non-white? His mother was white and he was raised for much of his youth by his white grandparents. Many Latinos are in fact white. If you have traveled extensively in Europe, you find that there is hardly a "white" monoculture.
Uhm. . . I am only stating historical fact. The definition of "White" people changed over time. And I am not talking about classical race theory. I am talking about race as it is defined in America. And I don't think you understand what I said.
I have no idea of what happens in a "White" person's mind when they look at a person or hear about their heritage, then define who is "White" and who is not "White".
