In order to indoctrinate students to be unquestioning obedient serfs, the public schools have beat out of children any creativity or ability for independent thinking. Students who question or fail to obey are diagnosed as hyperactive and put on Ritalin or some other drug. In the false name of safety, young children are not allowed to run around and play in the neighborhood unsupervised. That prevents exploring and hinders normal development.

I don’t know what children learn in public but they don’t learn to make change. I made a purchase at McDonald’s. The price was $3.15. I handed the young black clerk a $20 bill, a nickel and dime. He gave me $16.95 in change.

I said, “I should receive $17.00.”

“Nope, $16.95.”

“Is the price $3.15?”

“Yep.”

“Did I give you $20.15?

“Yep.”

“Then the change should be $17.00.”

“Nope, $16.95.”

I give the odd cents after they’ve entered the $20 into the register just to watch the deer-in-the headlights look when they have to make change. I gave someone $20.08 for a $5.08 purchase and he had to take out his cell phone calculator, with me and his manager shouting “$15.00” Since you mentioned race, he was Asian. If the stereotypes are true, he should have excelled in math!

Years ago, I gave a clerk $2.08 for a $1.83 purchase. She looked really confused, handed the nickel back to me, then gave me two dimes for change. She was a college sophomore!

I was just astonished that he knew the price was $3.15 and that I have given him $20.15 and that he believe the register and was unable to do the simple subtraction in his head. Both China and the USA indoctrinate students but at least China also educates.

I'm 35 and people were stupid in school even at my age. People are extremely stupid nowadays, and nothing shows just how stupid 95%+ of people are than politics.

I always used to think of "lead by example" and "be the change you want to see in the world." But nope! People are stupid. Very, very, VERY stupid! All the great thinkers of this species, from Da Vinci, Edison, and Einstein, all knew this. And the more you learn, the more you realize this as time passes on.

People have access to the world's information at their fingertips and most young people use it on TikTok and Instagram. And it's a vicious cycle too, because the worse society gets, the more tempting it is to waste away on social media and not think about the Bidens and Jinpings in charge of this stupid species of morons.

Why do you think I even use GirlsAskGuys? After a while, you stop trying, because you just look around you and think "What am I even doing here? I'm trying to better myself for THIS society?"

I dont think schools are working as they should be anymore, public schools have long taught people that "they can be whatever they want to be" and safe spaces instead of places for learning. Colleges, now serving as bussiness, are the same way. You can't replace the truth or the search for truth with emotions while expecting no change.

Kids in public schools aren't learning anything useful for the most part, I'm going to 12th grade and I haven't learned anything mildly useful since 5th grade beyond mathematics. Beside being taught about mental health, anti racism, and the LGBTQ in school, everything else is just repetition of what you learned last grade or something you could've just googled.

I know that general intelligence is about 0.8 inheritable and that alone plays a huge factor on how long you're going to live and how successful you'll be but children are not being taught to be their full potential anymore. The clerk probably hasn't done math since he graduated, if not longer, because I doubt he's actually dumb.

First, if you actually went to public school, you might be able to have sufficient experience to comment intelligently.

Second, you are better than this - at least, I thought so; no I am beginning to change my mind because...

Third, it is evident that YOU are the one being indoctrinated. You are being thoroughly indoctrinated in Conservative bullshit. This is why you parents homeschooled you - so they can have complete control of your mind. Fortunately, when you get out in the real world, a girl of your nominal intelligence should be able to undo the bullshit you are being fed.

Its amazing we spend between 7,000-23,000 dollars per student per year getting such results.

We would be far better off going back to the small micro-school model that actually worked prior to the 1960's industrialization.

You can give students fancy building and expensive equipment but if they are not taught because they are all held back to the slowest student or they are not taught the basic things because indoctrination is more important and especially, if the students don't study, they are not going to be educated.

@kelleynice what is really interesting is how having mixed age multi-year classrooms actually helps the kid learn better.

The problem with the post 1960's industrialized education model is it basically is built around the ideas of applying industrialized mass production to education as if all kids were the same and mere technique duplicated could teach them.

When in fact children are unique individuals requiring unique attention that were made to learn in smaller groups of individuals that knew them and could adapt to their needs leveraging existing knowledge and relationships to motivate and facilitate learning.

This is why the multi-generational micro-school model can work better it better reflects the natural environment for which we were designed to learn.

My kids got through public school just as it started to get really bad. Now with covid thereis still online classes over two years later. Nobody gets a failing grade and many states have opted out of standardized tests. Our young people have lost two years thay will never get back.

I don’t know if it’s indoctrinating. The kids are struggling with relegating their knowledge to their phones and don’t bother remembering basic math. Schools are underfunded as well as the parents too busy or lazy to teach their kid basic life skills. Such as sitting down and shutting the fuck up for extended periods.
