So I responded to a question recently and because I offered the opinion that society is headed towards a fall, I was called a boomer and blamed for 'pollution'. Even tho I had made it clear that my opinion isn't that the younger generation are solely/mostly responsible for the situation but this is the situation.
To those of you who believe all of society's problems come from the older generation & all of the solutions will come from the young: Your victim mentality where you blame older people for the world's problems isn't going to help you fix anything because you are a product of the culture that created those problems. You are not isolated it from it. There's a reason why you aren't living in the woods like an amazonian rain forest villager. There's a reason why you're eating food that took a lot of resources to produce out in some farmland somewhere. There's a reason why the electric care you promote took a lot of old fossil energy to charge up. There's a reason why you're buying cheap crap made in some pollution spewing factor in another country.
And are we going to talk about the young people making the same mistakes as the worst examples from the older generations? A guy like the 30 year-old con man Samuel Bankman-fried, CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
You're not as special as you think. Nor are you going to solve any problems at all if all you're good at is complaining.
This is true of all 'victims' in general. Not just you,
I'm all for people of every generation working together to make things better but that takes actually having realistic goals and being able to discuss topics respectfully.
