    The part about inventors really bugs me.
    The inventor whose picture you posted, is not very famous, because he is not that great of an inventor. How can you compare that to Thomas Edison or Graham Bell? It's no ones duty to force feed the names of certain people to students in schools just because they're black. Do you think school books would not have mentioned Edison's or Write brothers' names if they were black?
    --> Solution: Invent things instead of expecting to be mentioned for no reason

      I totally agree with you. But most blacks can't even name black inventors. And then get mad at whites thinking the reason they're not taught about people like Madame CJ Walker or GW Carver is because the white educational system hides it. But the real blame, and I mean blame, is you have high concentrations of blacks living in black communities REFUSING to teach these names to their children. It's amazing that someone can hold resentment against the US and say it's racism when they refuse to teach their children stuff the schools don't. Are they really thinking that white children never research stuff outside of what's taught in class? It reminds me of the offensive comments about Ferguson. The safest place to hide during the riots is the library. The point of that joke holds weight in this. And that's "How can you know the educational system is flawed and not teach your kids to seek out knowledge on their own"

    Living in Brazil its kinda bitter/sweet because being a mixed Brazilian I've seen my father get treated aweful and my mother.. That's a different story. But at the same time more than half of Brazil is black or mixed.

    And no one should be offended by thus post i don't know about America but from what I heard in the past months is that you guys do have this problem out there and who doesn't but what she saying is true and she said it in a respectful polite manner so cut the shit...

    Race doesn't matter. I'm a minority who is neither white or black and I used to think race mattered SO much that I would be depressed about it. After a series of events and experiences, I've confidently learned that It doesn't. It's a mental thing. People judge you based on your actions much more than appearance. And even so, appearances like being black doesn't matter in 2014. Get over it and stop whining.

    Whatever an African American will say will be criticized and the answer will sound dumb. So basically if you aren't black you won't understand or if you don't spend time with blacks you won't get it or even understand. I mean I guess anybody who isn't white

    There is no white privilege, blacks just always search for something allowing them to justify their hate towards people who are white and have achieved more than them.

    There are people who actually think that only black people have a month? What about Hispanic month? And women's month? Those exist too. I don't know if they're to honor the history of those groups but they're still there.

    I think no one is completely right about this, but everyone has some valid points.

    Also, Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly had a discussion on it somewhat recently:

    I've never understood why though americans created the racial prefix concept which being the following:

    Hispanic = Latino/mexican American

    Black =African American

    Asian = Asian American

    Indian = Naitive American

    White = American

    This doesin't make sense to me then again, i'm not American.

      Native Americans are called as such because it's what they are. Indians live in India. The only reason we called them Indians for so long was because Columbus thought he had reached India in 1492.

      Where has it ever been stated that white equals American? American is a nationality, not a race, and has never been confused with such.

      I get you but you don't get it man, America changes these prefixes to suite them. If you're Asian you come up as Asian American if that's the case then a white person should be euro-american or imperial-american.. let it be fair or just get rid of it since america is the only country that i know that racializes everything. @ImagineRelease

      NO America doesn't change them. Blacks change it. First they were called Negros, but they didn't like that, they wanted to be called something else. Then came Coloreds, then that was offensive after a while and they wanted to be called Blacks, but then they didn't want to be called black and wanted to be called African Americans. And many people have wished to be called Irish Americans to designate a pride in our Irish heritage. Whites don't make that list. People from their own community come up with it.

      Whites don't make up these designations. Those who claim to be their leaders do. And no where will you see that "American" = white. Because American is a whether or not you're a national of the country. It has nothing to do with a color. If anyone told you that tell them they're wrong, but you don't see "American" being defined as a race of white people. My best and most cherished friend is a former vietnam vet, Marine, and he's black. To me, He's American.

    My dad was also arrested for stealing a car and a car chase he was never involved in. My dad is white. He had a similar car and was never given the chance to defend himself. He sat in the back of a police car on his way to the station when they called over the radio and said they had caught the guy. To be honest I never really thought about this. But if my father was a different race would I think this was racial profiling?

    The fundamental question is this:

    Is the lack of having disadvantages... an advantage?

    The answer is “yes”.

    “White privilege” is about NOT having racial-based socio-economic disadvantages.

    ——-

    So someone that is white and poor will say “I’m poor and I’m white, where’s my privilege huh?”

    The answer to that is “imagine being black/brown and poor, you’d be even WORSE off! Is that what you want?”

      Those don't exist. The highest earning groups in the country are all minorities (Asians and jewish to be precise, followed by African immigrants.).

    Interesting read! One of my favorite so far in here, because of its profundity.

    Would love to see someone write a take with the opposite view. I always like seeing both sides.

    Race baiting, once more. White race baiting. Who wonders?
    Complaining about privileges lost in and since the Civil War.

    We're used to it. But we still get the same feeling.

    I completely agree. I think one of the main reasons is tv and social media. Everyone portrays us as loud, obnoxious, and ignorant. That needs to stop.

    It's something white people (mostly female) do to virtue signal that they are "woke" and sympathetic to others. They never actually give up any of this so called "privilege" they claim we have, they just want to shame and berate other white people to feel better about themselves.

    Racism - if it exists - isn't active here, because we only have white people...

    Saying 'white priviledge' exists - may be true in some countries, but it also may not be. What about affirmative action - isn't THAT racist too? I'd say so...

      One key aspect of "white privilege" is to say whites are privileged to live in an area with less drugs.
      But for those who LOVE drugs this would be called "black privilege" to not have to go so far to get them.

      The point is really if you look at the story of the invisible knapsack, and reverse it, It's the most offensive thing ever written about the black community. and it teaches them they're unable to create their own success and wealth, it's all just a "gift" from the white man and this does more harm than good for them.

    political/social manipulation 100% in U. S. you can do whatever you want with people, only push the right botton... isn't it weird that all these biggest protests since 60s take place with the first afro American president? think about it.
