What does every boy need to know?

When I was young my favorite movie was Second Hand lions. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of it, the romance, the adventure, and the impossible yet in some ways possible life that they led. Now as I watch it many years later I find new things to take out of it, besides the adventure and fighting which I enjoyed as a young boy, I find myself intrigued with the actual life lessons and good ideas that can be pulled from the movie. One of them is 'The what every boy needs to know about becoming a man speech' which I would like to discuss briefly.

Some of you may be wondering "What’s the point in this speech, hell what’s a speech?". Well the first I will explain to you and the later, well if you were asking that I don’t think you should be allowed on computers. First of all, in this modern age I am disappointed everyday by the amount of disrespect and "I don’t give a #$!*" attitude displayed in the youth and 'men'. There are multiple reasons for this, movies, television, music, and last but not least parents. However, I’m not just talking about biological parents, I’m talking about the parents of this country, the men and women that lead and run the nation. It’s up to you to make sure we don’t turn out like a bunch of apes. This is where the " What every boy needs to know about becoming a man" speech comes in to play. We need to start teaching our youth to act like real men with real manners. It’s time for the party to stop!. So, I am calling upon every man and woman that reads this article to ask themselves "What does every boy need to know?". Next I want you to compile a list, and then write the speech. One day when you if you have a son or take a superior role (like beating up a bunch of youths as an old man like from the movie) over some young men you can inform them as to what it means to really be a man. Hopefully we will one day return to the age of well dressed, well taken care of, and well-mannered men.

- sometimes, the things that may or may not be true, are the things that a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good. That honor, virtue and courage mean everything; that money and power, power and money, mean nothing. That good always triumphs over evil. And remember this, this is the most important: true love ... True love never dies. It doesn't matter if those things are true. A man needs to believe in them, because those are the things worth believing in. -

Although this isn't the full speech (because it doesn't exist) it gives you an alright idea.

Some final comments

I hope you enjoyed my brief article and will ask yourself what you can teach your sons, how you can raise them to be real men. The nation’s youth need to know what being a man means, now more than ever. I, in no way mean to say men are more important than women, this article was just based around men.

We want to think we are; but often when left only to our own devices, find the lure of evil simply too powerful. And many of us are too weak-minded to know the difference half the time anyway.

Money and power mean opportunities. But to what end? The former things listed are of little use to glamorize if they are put in the context of nothing and devoid of definition.

Again, without definition, this truism is devoid of meaning, and makes a man have only the illusion of moral knowledge. And is this talking about the ultimate end, or every single battle? Because if the latter, then no. Bad guys sometimes win battles. Otherwise, they wouldn't be a threat to anyone.

"... And remember this, this is the most important: true love... True love never dies..."

FACT

But you'd be surprised what it can live through, especially if it's one-sided.

Just because evil exist doesn't mean that we give up and head that way. Just because good exist doesn't mean it happens by magic either.

We put our best foot forward as much as we can, not fearing failure, but respecting it as a teacher. We learn to look beyond the physical things into the things of ethereal and conceptual value. We learn to relate with others, and learn how to be relatable.

Then we do every blardy thing we can to do the things that we believe in.

There isn't a right or a wrong, but there is a good and evil. Pick a side, choose what you believe in, figure out if you really believe in it, then do it.

As a dad I teach my son compassion, self reliance, determination in the face of adversity. A boy needs to find his direction in life quickly, he needs to grab the bull by the horns & go for that which is his greatest passion. Whether that be a job, life experience, a woman. All I read was a sad commentary on the true nature of reality, inferring that it's maddening and perverse and that only men (not women) are capable of coping with it and only then if they are the right kind of naive to deal with it without confronting the truth and potentially glimpsing something horrible.

And how much pain have you gone through in your short, short life? The only reason anyone has a child is to make themselves feel good. That's not the point.
