Yes PUBLIC swearing is not good at all. I'm not saying that we should not swear but we should be aware of our surroundings.

However, "I prefer WTF? over WTH?" It's classy
I don't use swear words to attract a mate so I honestly care if it's unattractive.
That said, I think openly swearing in public is rude.
Words with "academic merit" aren't necessary to express my feelings when I stub my toe or when someone's being a bitch.
I'm not bothered by swearing. What bothers me is the highly limited vocabulary of people who swear constantly.
