I think at this point the only very real disadvantage comes from physical preference. While most white children aren't being brought up racist anymore there's still a general preference for white looks, which isn't entirely their fault since the media controls most of that and they just happen to be on the side that is admired. I do think white people make a lot of assumptions about a person based on their race ( i think they'd be more afraid of a strange dark skinned person walking up to them even in the middle of the day than a strange white person.) I don't see hatred and discrimination though just bad, hurtful stereotypes.

Whether he experienced it or not, if one were to look at incarceration, education and poverty rates by race it's still clear that the wounds haven't healed; also there are many black people still alive who had to live under Jim Crow laws.
So because black people make up a higher percentage of inmates and the such... that's racist? As you said wounds haven't healed, so I'm not quite sure what you meant.

Slavery was not the only form of oppression and exploitation of African-Americans, and unless more resources are put into giving African Americans Equal opportunities, we will still see this disparity.
White people were in chain gangs too, especially the poor or Irish.
It's not race... its wealth that forces hatred.

To an extent that's true BUT there was still legal discrimination against blacks within the lifetime of many alive today and these policies put black people on a lower playing field and there was never any attempt to right the wrongs of the past.

I'm saying times have changed since then... opportunities are given so long as you take it.

No one should feel guilt about something that they didn't do, but inequality resulting from past policies should be addressed, and yes there are schools in the US that have a predominately black population and they are underfunded.
So by that logic, every family affected by the Holocaust should have a reparation.
Every lineage that were slaves to the Egyptians should be paid a reparation
and so on and so forth
If every race and creed were to pay a reparation to another... we would all be fucked at one point or another.

I agree with you. Most people won't because they're willfully blind.
The truth is that people feel more comfortable with the races they are exposed to in early life, and the ones they see favorably around them (IE: the media).
However, there's also something to be said for inborn preferences. The simple fact is: light skin is better than dark skin.
It's been shown over and over again that extremely young children, even with no exposure to hollywood movies, almost unanimously prefer light skinned dolls to dark skinned dolls.
In every racial group across the globe, the women are lighter than the men, and the men prefer lighter featured women.
The current theory for the evolution of blue eyes in Europe is that because the harsh cold made it so that many men died hunting, and the female job of gathering was useless in the cold climate, men had their pick of the women, and they unanimously chose the few light eyed women there were.
The inborn preference of light skin over dark skin is flawed. there's nothing that indicates such an inborn preference. Why? Because there are tribes within Africa that look down on light skin. For example the Maasai people are known for associating light skin with witchcraft and they tend to disband any light skin/albino person within their tribe.
Lighter skin is preferred in most parts of the world, because it has been reinforced for the past millenium to be associated with wealth, upper class and beauty while dark skin has ALWAYS been negatively stereotyped as lower class, ugly. Its not a human nature thing, its a society thing. If lighter skin was truly an inborn preference in humans, then surely natural selection would have taken it course and eradicated dark skin by now.

What about the blue/green/grey eyes in Afghanistan or Pakistan? Thats middle east... From what I know these eye colours originated around the Black Sea.

There's no real evidence that light eyes actually originated in the black sea, just that they were very abundantly present in the distant past. It could easily be that a group with a sporadic occurrence of light eyes made it to the Caucasus/Ukraine, and underwent heavy selection for light eyes there.
The middle east and northern India have very cold climates in certain places. You find the highest incidence of light eyes among people living in the mountainous regions of these places, such as in the Kalash of Afghanistan (who despite appearances, are a different race from white Europeans)
Give me a fucking break. You have the same rights as everyone else. Honestly, you make black people look bad when you write things like this. No one is oppressing black people but themselves. I go to a university and have a couple of very good friends who are black and they are wonderful people. The bottom line though, is most black people don't want to go to college. They'd rather sell drugs and commit crimes than work. The kinds of people I just described will continue to be oppressed and live in their fantasy world that all white people hate them until they can grow up and stop behaving like little children.

I kinda agree with this. From my experience , say in highschool, the Canadian black people just wanted to play basketball and fuck around and always try to act like they in a rap video. I'm surprised half of them got into highschool... However the black people who are first generation work hard, and understand the importance of education.
mm.. I'm not sure if I really agree with this. I'm friends with plenty of black people and I'm in no way trying to be racist. Yes, some black people are still treated poorly, but I almost never see it happen anymore. Now I'm sure it could be different where you live but in my town that's not really a problem. I mean seriously if black people were treated poorly why would we have Obama as president?
Just because there is a black president does not mean that there isn't racism in the country, especially when black men get longer sentences than white men as has been shown in many studies. As well as black men getting routinely "stopped" by cops based off of racial profiling/stereotypes. Not all black people are treated unfairly, but there is a prejudice
Obama being president shows how far we have come for sure. But even THAT isn't an achievement (I was in college watching him getting inaugurated and an old white man shook his head at the television and said aloud "What is this world coming to?")

Black people have been hated on in America since the first slave ship was brought to shores. Black people in general really only received civil rights about 50 years ago. That means anytime before the 1960s a white man could rape, kill a black person and get away with it and it happened A LOT. Never forget history because the same people you are trying to gain acceptance from were raised in environments that bred that type of behavior. blacks were, and still are seen as lesser. Don't be surprised by any type of racism you notice from people.
Yes I agree that being black in this country does suck at times, but all ethnicity's receive racism so it's not just blacks. Also I don't agree they should have to apologize, if you mean the nation itself apologizes for what it's done in the past (Germany apologized for the holocaust) I agree with that but not white people as a whole. The fact is, being a minority in America especially sucks and always will.
Also some of your points are kind of stupid and I suspect they were typed out of anger (We all type incredibly stupid stuff when we're mad) but some kind of make sense.
Either way you're right and anyone who is saying otherwise just doesn't want to accept that minorities in general have it worse in America (I don't think most people realize that you're using black people as a way to represent a minority and show that minorities in general have it horrible).

As a fellow black American, I find the institutional racism rather amusing.
Let me explain why.
No other ethnic group is systematically disadvantaged from the very top, like it is against black Americans.
If we as black Americans weren't seen as a powerful, strong, determined, passionate people aka "a threat" by the people at the very top (aka rich white people)...
...
...
... we wouldn't be so disadvantaged at every step of American socio-economics.
People like me and @mr90skid understand the deep-rooted fear of black power by the people at the top 1% of the socio-economic scale, and that is where our pride and confidence comes from. :-D
P. S. There is a reason why the fear of "black power" is almost never discussed in the press; the people who control the media (the top 1%) doesn't want to intentionally empower black Americans. They would rather keep black people subjugated, to the point of institutionalizing many and numerous socio-economic hurdles. Talk about being SCARED! #shookones

My brothers look black and even he notices (but doesn't realize why) people who don't know him treat him better and pays more attention to him when I'm with him. I completely agree with your article.
