Simple Rules on How to Communicate Better

In this myTake I wanna give some advice about how to communicate better.

A note that I am not an expert on this topic but these are some things I have learned:

· Give eachother complete attention

· Let the other finish what he/she wants to say

· Listen and place yourself in the other

· Read between the Lines

· Don’t come directly with solutions

· Be honest although the truth can be hard

· Learn to say what you mean

· Nothing is too small to talk about, it can grow to something big

· Just ask how you can communicate better

· Don’t go in defense right away when you get critic

· Use the so called “golden rule”

· Use “I”-phrases – I believe, I think, I feel….

· Don’t react right away, take a little time to react

· Never assume that you understand, check if you have understand it

· Don’t hesitate to tell when something is bothering you before the other does it

Absolutely agree. Although I do have a problem of forming thoughts and speaking when people pause in conversation.

I'm not laying the blame on them, but it seems like a lot of people pause at "inappropriate" points in conversation which leads me to think they've finished their thought.

They're not out of breath or taking a drink. They don't even simply look like they're trying to gather their thoughts. They simply pause.

I suppose I could be more patient and wait longer than a couple of seconds though.

Wise take - I always try to keep the lines of communication clear and if possible controlled not in a control freak way but to avoid misunderstanding.
