Why you shouldn't feel bad about not being "popular"

During my elementary-highschool days I was always jealous of the popular kids and always tried to become one of them myself. a lot of people feel that the need to be popular is very important but honestly it is not as good as what it seems like and here is why.

1. Everyone knows your business.

It is not much of a difference from celeberties. Whenever something happeneds or when you do something EVERYONE has heard about it. For example in my highschool I knew a lot of personal things about the popular girls and they did not even have a clue who I was! The word spreads around fast.

2. They barely have real friends.

In today's world people only really focus on themselves and if you have something that will support them then they will be your "friend" and often times people want to hang around the populars just for the attention and it will make themselves look better in social rankings. Not only that, but a lot of popular kids have wealthy parents and so they drive to school in fancy cars and of course everyone wants to be seen in that so they will be your friend and use you.

3. More drama.

Just like you seen in the move Mean Girls the popular ones always had a lot of drama and it is very true. There is no particular explanation for this one but one reason for this could be is that populars usually go to more parties and socialize with a lot of people and somehow or another drama starts. Think about it, the loner kids in school never really have drama but it is always the populars.

4. People pay a lot of attention on you.

If a popular kid does something "uncool" or wears something "not instyle" people will critize them and remember it a lot more than someone who was only average. When you're popular people always expect you to go with the latest trends and any time you are not with that people start to say more things and gossip about you, which brings back the idea of #3.

5. It will not last your entire life.

a lot of people get caught up in being popular for so long that they make it into a lifestyle and assume that things will always be that way, not true. It's just like singers and artists, they are in the spotlight for a period of time and then everyone forgets about them and moves on to the next person. It would may cause someone depression if they were popular all of their life getting lots of attention and suddenly it's gone and they feel like they did something wrong or don't like the "unpopular" life and become depressed.

Bottom line : There is much more to life than being popular, be yourself and the right people will come into your life.
