Shirtless pic as profile/cover pic - a woman's perspective?

Question

Now that fitness is all the rage , we are getting a METRIC SHIT ton of people using their progress pic selfie as their profile picture or just slipping it in as their cover pic. 

I'm curious about this. I won't share my opinion yet cos I want to hear from y'all. 

What do you think?

 

Is it hot?
Or is it too show-offy?

It turns me off big time, because MOST people do it because they need that validation from all the 'likes' and attention. It just makes me think the guy/girl is insecure or too obsessed with physical appearance, and needs that constant attention in order to feel attractive.

It's one thing to post a picture of your before and after together.. if you are proud of your hard work and to inspire others, but constantly posting those types of pictures; esp using them as your profile, just makes me assume that person is not mature enough to act like a classy adult. I would never be able to take him/her seriously as a person.

From experience, sorry if I offend anyone, but to me guys with shirtless pics are trying too hard to get attention, much like a girl showing her breasts in a picture. The guys who have tried talking to me on social media with shirtless pics always started off sweet and went to sexual or just dove straight into trying to be sexual and it comes off trashy just because you have a nice body doesn't mean I'll degrade myself for you. If you're on a dramatic weight loss journey it's ok to post and occasional pic to show progress but if all your pics are the same it's ridiculous

It turns me off a guy. It makes it look like that physical attractiveness is more important to him, he thinks he's the bees knees and he's showing off. I'd view him as someone who can't make intellectual conversation or woo a girl correctly, he just hopes women will flock to him because he has some vague abs showing, making it a lot easier for himself. I also think he's out of the loop because if was in the loop, he'd know women don't find it attractive or enticing.

I love that everyone thinks that fitness is this years fad or something, when what it comes down to is the cross fit training style is just revamping a lot of previous athletes lust of physical activity. But whatever it takes to get mcfatty couch potato to put down the doritos.. Anyways, yes I think it's douchy to use a shirtless pic where a guy is trying to show off, but I love seeing fit girls in training bras showing off.. Double standard..

While it's a dating site, not just a social media site, okcupid's trend analysis showed guys posing shirtless got more responses. However, the impact declined with age, it was hugely beneficial for guys your age, while by 30's it was barely a benefit. So you should probably be taking selfies of your stomach, and i should go take a photo of myself learning to golf or... I don't know what do old people do. working as a greeter at walmart.

I think if anyone were to spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours at gym to look a certain way than why not have the confidence to be proud to show it to world? Those that voted douchey may just feel intimidated by those pictures, cause they don't feel they can measure up to them. Just my $0.02

It isn't hot or sexy, I don't take shirtless guys as serious. I believe in modesty that's for men and women. No one needs to be half naked in order to come across as sexy or confident. True confidence in my opinion is knowing who you are and being that person. You can dress in a way that shows off your body but in a more classy way.

Definitely just trying to show-off!! Maybe he has self-esteem issues and needs to be reassured that his physical appearance can still be made as a cover-up towards the qualities he's lacking. For me, a nice guy would just have a profile picture of just himself, with clothes on, and smiling!
