How To Save A Person That Is Being Hanged?

I've always wonder about this but, If a person was hanging, and you were somehow able to reach them in time, Couldn't you just put your hands under their feet and push them up while keeping your hands under their feet to save them? Wouldn't that lessen the strain on the neck, giving them space to breathe? I've always wondered about this when I see movies with hangings involve.

Hmm.. interesting idea.
However, if you push someone up from their feet, the balance would be pretty sketchy. Most likely the person hanging would end up leaning some direction since their hands are behind their back. Leaning one way may put enough strain on them to choke them. Also I imagine that they aren't exactly light so holding them up would only help them temporarily before you get tired and they fall. They can't exactly save themselves so you'd be delaying the inevitable-- especially if there was a cop or someone watching over the hanging.
Another thing to think about is that they tighten the rope quite a bit before they drop them down. Falling to hang is probably going to tighten it some more. They are only going to get shallow breaths when they get pushed back up, if you can push them back up.

This would all be assuming that you could get to them in time. Many hangings would end up just snapping the persons neck and killing them fast from the fall. You'd have to be in a certain weight and height range to be safe from the neck snapping.

Depends, if they weren't too high off the ground maybe, but if there body is limp it would be difficult to push them straight up, plus a hanging rope usually tightens around the neck so if all there body weight was put into tightening that loop then it won't matter if you lift them up unless you can cut the rope. not to mention a lot of damage can be done from the initial drop. Depending how they are hung they may even have broken their neck right away.

Actually I think in most cases at the moment the person drops, the string will fasten around their neck so tight and quickly that it will just break their necks.. So there wouldn't be much to save as there wouldn't even be much suffocation. Anyways I could imagine it to work in any other case, well kinda, although you'd have to be pretty strong and good at balancing them if you were planning to do that.
