Do you hate small talk?

I'm really bad at small talk. I almost always accidentally shut down the other person because I'll say something and expect them to understand the reference or it's controversial and I expect them to be able to debate back. They don't, and it makes me seem like I got no chill (I don't.) I avoid elevators and bars with people that are in suits and dress shirts for this reason.

I almost always like small talk... it creates a lighter, more friendly, more pleasant atmosphere around you in this chaotic harsh world. It's nice to even momentarily connect with a stranger in an elevator ride. Only time when it sorta bugs me is if I'm in a serious rush or am in a bad mood. I try to stay polite though. Thumbs up for small talk!

YES!! OMG, I hate it. I just wanna get over it as soon as possible, but some people just don't know how to have a conversation so you're stuck with small talk.
I end up just moving on from those people xD
