Neither is intrinsically worse. It all depends on the nurse (or tech).
I've had medical staff give me shots and take blood, and I literally could not feel the needle. It was like they put a dull plastic nib up against my arm--that was all I felt. On the other hand, I've had staff--in the same procedures, with the same gauge needle, etc.--who tried to give me a shot or take blood, and I had to man up, look tough and not wince from the pain of what felt like my flesh being ripped.
It's all down to skill level.
Getting blood taken for sure, needle stays in much longer, a shot is quick
A shot lasts a second, only having mild discomfort in the arm for a day. Having blood taken the needle stays in longer and usually I feel a little woozy after.
If you want to know the worse kind of needle I would say having a canulla (may have spelt it wrong) put in. You can't bend your arm as it's painful and it's always constantly under your skin until you leave the hospital.
I hate needles no matter what.. But I think the longer the needlenis in there, the worse it is... so getting blood drawn in worse... plus it sometimes makes me light headed and super grossed out...
My 5 year old son gets his blood drawn every three months and he was getting multiple shots a day until we put him on an insulin pump. He said that both are bad. He hates them.
I hate either I have to look away, when I was pregnant with my son I was used to getting pricked. . still hated it.

Lots of variable... normally a shot in the arm is not bad, just a momentary sting. But if it is a shot in the mouth for dental work... watch out!
Getting blood drawn is not much different that a shot. Unless you are disturbed by blood. there seems to be the magic of curiosity where it is taking time and you have to look, and then it hits! Blood does not bother me, but some people faint seeing it. And if they are donating blood, they may lie there sweating the whole time with nerves.
Getting a sample from your rectum is the worst ;( they make you take off your pants and bend over and stick something right in there to take the sample ;(

Getting blood drawn for sure. Like @GinnyWeasley said You have to wait 10 to 12 hours to eat depending on the bloodwork. If you take a glucose tolerance test it's even worse. You get your blood drawn twice, Once before you drink a sugary drink, then 2 hours after you drink it and you have to sit very still for the 2 hours in between.
i would have to say getting your blood taken because you can't eat for 10 hours before. which is tortuous enough and then if you dont eat right away, you can pass out.
... just to clarify... a shot of what?
Im not scared of syringes (i prefer them to pills) or anything but this shot you speak of...
i'll take it...
I can imagine being at the hospital and they are like "Sir, you can either get poked with a syringe, or take this shot of Wild Turkey whisky"...
umm... shot please? lol
No? not the shot you are talking about?
I hate getting my blood taken.
After a recent, extended bout with kidney stones, having to go to the hospital 2-3 times a week for pain relief, I learned quickly that a shot that relieves pain I can tolerate, but having blood taken... NO THANK YOU!
Getting my blood drawn is only painful for a second when they first use the needle. An intramuscular shot can cause soreness and other symptoms for days. I got a flu shot in my arm two years ago and the pain was so bad afterwards, I couldn't drive using both hands for three days.
having blood drawn is waay worse
1. the needle is often bigger than those used for a shot
2. it goes into your veins!
3. It stays in longer
4. you have the visual of the bloods going through the tube
Dentist is the worst of all :P

Definitely getting blood drawn. I've gotten many shots now and only blood taken once and the latter was by far the most uncomfortable for me. At least with a shot it's quick and over.
I'd actually say the shot. Sometimes it's the same, but some shots leave soreness in the surrounding area, where taking enough blood for a sample will have no discomfort beyond any potentially caused by the needle.
İ dont like both. But second one is really bad. Lol
Getting blood taking, I have little veins
And it's always a nightmare when they try to take blood
None really. I got used to it. Even donated blood. But now they re not letting me since I got skinnier and have lower vitamin levels :(
neither are painful, but i think the thought of having blood taken from your body is what makes it feel as though it is worth. i am fine with needles even though i get nervous but with a blood test, i will always faint after it has happened
A shot can be "painful" for days. My arm always gets sore after a shot. Getting your blood taken may hurt a little in the moment but then it's over.
Neither, but I do actually enjoy getting shots... I know I'm weird. There's just this odd satisfaction for me from it.
Neither. I honest don't mind them at all. And they aren't that painful too!
It depends actually but I don't care about either. In fact that is a good distraction pain and would prefer it over what I go through now on a daily basis.
Getting a shot sucks more. But then again i dont know. The last time I had blood drawn was like 10 years ago.
Well after donating blood I'm vulnerable to physical assaults from opportunists.
A shot at worst makes you are a little numb.
Some intra muscular shots can cause a bit of discomfort. A blood take , if well done doesn't hurt.
I chose A because i was thinking getting shot by a bullet :/ but definitely getting your blood taken.
Only a few shots because they either sting inside or the medicine even hurts. Most are just fine.
getting shot, what do you mean getting your blood taken, like in a blood donation?
I'm pretty comfortable with either. =)
I always hated needles >:(
Neither is even remotely bad.
Neither. Both are pretty tame.
