Why do Americans not shave their pits?

So you are all more or less into shaved genitalia. How comes shaving pits is not a thing? To me that's the nastiest hair on ones body...

Wellll I don't know why European men shave everything, but I know why American men don't- and it has to do with why American women do.

The reason American men don't shave their armpits/body is because the /problem/ of unsightly underarm and body hair is a problem for women, not men. Why? Marketing.

I'm not American and I shave them (I shave everything except my arms), but in America it's seems most girls tend to like men that have some body hair, so maybe that's why they don't shave, but I think armpit hair is gross, but the pubic hair is the grossest though.

I was put on a hormone when I was young to help me sleep,
However I was taken off of it when at 7 years old I had armpit hair.
I basically started looking like I'd hit puberty at like seven or 8.
I tried to shave it as I was self conscious, I'd stopped after cutting myself

Actually body hair especially pubic hair protects the body and helps keep it clean the hair acts as sort of a screen of sorts which keeps things from coming in contact with the skin. As long as you keep the body hair clean.

As far as I know, most women shave their pits. Men generally don't unless they are competitive swimmers or models. Shaving the armpits is seen as a feminine grooming practice here.

no you're completely right though, we do not shave out pits. ANY of us. Not one guy i know who does. Just shower daily to make sure its clean, use deodorant to make it smell fresh, and its no different from the hair on top of your head.

The body hair has a very important function - it keeps the excess sweat, bacteria and other unwanted creatures off your skin. In that region of the body, the skin is much weaker than on your arms and legs, therefore much more susceptible to different kinds of skin problems. Not to mention it will start stinking a lot quicker.

The hair traps the sweat and doesn't let it on the pit skin. If you don't clean up, it will rot any way, but without pit hair the sweat along with all the passengers gets to spread over the pit skin and that is not good for you will most likely not be able to clean up for the entire day.

well i´ve never gotten any negative from shaving. in fact i even have to shave, cause since i had a fistula, it´s even medically suggested, as hair promotes growth of those things.

But hair traps in dust particles that deposit on skin otherwise.. It soaks sweat, so no wet armpit prints on T-shirt.. And the newly grown hair after shaving are rather brittle and they rub against the skin to cause itchiness and redness in some people
