Why don't guys shave their legs or use lotion?

Ok first of all this not related to my love life.

So me and a guy friend where talking and for some reason he start talking about his legs and mentioned that he has have" really pale legs". And I looked down and said" Yeah and a forest too, you should shave them". Then he said " Eww guys don't shave their legs" And then he walked away.

Another day I was in a mixed group of people (both girls and guys) and I put some lotion on my hands and one of the guys said "that smells good can I have some" I said "sure". and gave him some that he ended up putting on his face. Then one of the other guys in the group said "Eww that gay" then one of the girls said "no that's skincare". And we ended up having big discussion/ argument about skincare then lip care. Some guys in the group saying they don't use skincare while some said they do use skincare and use Chapstick.

Anyway can someone tell me why guys don't shave their legs or use lotion, or Chapstick.

The easiest answer is because women as a group don't want us to.

If most women wanted men to shave their legs, we would start doing it. Maybe not this generation but certainly the next. Take the whole genital shaving as an example. When our parents, or in some cases our parents' parents were younger that was not a thing at all.

A decade or so with it being normal and now it is an expectation - at least here for both men and women. You have choice in the extent and what you do, but you're absolutely expected to do something or pass on any oral fun. Heck, when i turned 15 you'd get bullied as a guy if you did not shave. Because it meant you had no idea about dating at all. And that was as a boy!

So yes. If women began asking for us to do it, we would since it is an easy leg up and a neat advantage to have at rather low commitment. Maybe I wouldn't. But someone would. It ould catch on as they receive more positive interactions. Spread. And then there we go. Consider say, eyeliner in the goth/emo community.

Some skincare might do us guys good. Although a lot of cosmetics isn't for longevity so much as the effects you see today and maybe some months down the line. Case in point being how amazingly silky most guys' hair gets when we actually properly care for it.

Here’s my legs. I never gotten bad compliments from women. And I always put on lotion. And I even try taking care of my feet too.

I think shaving your legs as a guy is gay. Men are supposed to have hair on their legs.

I think the main reason is for the longest time, usually shaved legs, using lotion, and using Chapstick is more of a female thing. It's most likely not considered a "manly thing" if he does all that.

It's the same thing with women, but NOT shaving. Some women choose not to, but I've seen guys shame women about it.
