My coworker is shy around me, avoids speaking to me when he can, why?

He is outgoing and not the type to be insecure at work. He has initiated a collaboration with me, but through someone who works for him (instead of talking to me directly). Anytime he needs to ask me something, he gets someone else to ask for him. He basically only says hi (in a friendly manner). I am friendly, but a bit shy. I just would like us to have a normal working relationship and would like to know why he is only this way towards me? And what can I do about it?

Unless you've given him a very good reason to hate you, the chances are high that he is REALLY into you. So much, that he's scared of even approaching you to say anything! I know what this is like, because I'm also like this towards a girl at my workplace.

As for what you can do about it, you can always try to find an opportunity where you'd get to sit right next to him, and begin discussing something work-related. Then you can try asking him certain casual stuff, and see if he opens up. By talking to him like this, he'll slowly realize that talking to you isn't as hard as he thinks. Just be prepared that maybe he might not be very good at talking with you at first, but he'll slowly get better. Good luck!

Ephram is absolutely right. He is just madly into you probobly that he can't even ask you how are you lol. You have to understand guys as well. If a guy don't give a sh*t about a girl and only wants to have sex to her he will come up to her and talk basicaly he will do anything. BUT if a guy likes a girl a lot, he maybe sitting in his own cocun for a very loooon time lol.

yes, I agree, I think he's definnitely into you. I had a similar experience and the guy was really really shy around me but he'd do little things to show that he was interested but he couldn't bring himself to even ask me to a work-related lunch with a group of people. finally I asked him out and he agreed so see how it goes and good luck!

I have the same thing going on with this guy who has been doing this to me for nearly 3 years!

I think he either hates me or finds me interesting or something.

This has been going on for 4 years! *sigh* I wonder if it's too late now for anything to change? Sometimes I wonder if he just really dislikes me? The one indication that he doesn't hate me, is at one office party he had 2 beers (ok..this guy never drinks), and then he actually acknowledged me.
