By average I mean this... Honestly after hearing about what someone wrote with this video. It's stupid to say women need to have the bodies of average American women. That honestly would be more unrealistic than the tiny bodies they have in video games. Since they will have more energy to move around and do physical things. So in the pictures above I don't see those 2 being able to handle any intense physical movements. I know it's even more illogical since video games characters ARE REAL yet some people think it will fuck up how younger kids view bodies.

I feel like most of the people who bitch about that sort of stuff dont even play video games. I can understand having average unimpressive characters for the sims but for an RPG or shooter game its not appealing. I dont want to play as Seth Rogen in Asasians Creed or Lena Dunham Dunham in Tomb Raider. Part of the appeal of video games is that they aren't 100% realistic. If I want to see a average looking people with mediocre bodies I can walk outside. In video games I want to see the athletic toned or jacked guys and hot girls.
Also like others have said, its up to the developers what creative direction they want to go. If someone has a problem with their artistic style then dont buy the game or maybe develop our own game with average dopey looking character models. See how well that sells =.=
But they shouldn't try and prevent other people from buying/enjoying the games just because they have an issue with it. And like I said Id bet money the person who wrote the article doesn't even play video games.
I think it is a balance of everything to be honest. There should be some things that should not be allowed in video games but also people need to accept that most people have an average body and don't have a smoking hot one. However, what I do think is women need to stop labelling men that are not creepy as creepy because the man is not hot and men and women need to stop calling attractive women sluts.

Yes, I think most people that have trouble pooping would do anything to be able to go, espically if they have not gone in a few days. I knew a girl that did not poop in 10 days.
Yes, the girl I was talking about before was at her friends house, she had not pooped in 10 days and just ate dinner and she said to me her tummy feels really bad and said she thinks it is her mum's cooking and I told her it was not the cooking it is because she had not gone for 10 days.

Yes, I talked to her and helped her with a breathing exercise. Told her to breath in deep hold it and breath out. Went over that a few times with her and I managed to get her to go poop by doing that.
Well since she had not pooped in 10 days you could only imagine how big it was. She told me about 6 to 9ft long and as wide as a coke can or something like that.
I think she locked the bathroom door but the smell was going into the hallway really badly and I think she said she covered her friends toilet from top to bottom in skidmarks as well.
To make it worse for her she did not realise there were 2 doors into the toilet area. She locked the one into the hall but did not see the one that goes into her friend’s brother’s bedroom. He did not know she was in there and walked in while she was shitting and it smelled so bad. They made eye contact and right at that moment her massive poop thumped into the bowl like an anvil while her and him had eye contact.
Yes, well my morning poops are nice and big, the mid afternoon poops are medium sized and the poops just before I go to bed are just emptying a bit more poop out.

I have some very key standards with the female form when designing heroines: - Only make them fat if it serves the narrative better, or just plain makes more sense for them that way. (E. g., Glob, Gummibabe.)
- Other than a few exceptions (like Ciem, Feruga, Earwig, or similar) where it would just look wrong to give her anything other than a typical superheroine shape, I otherwise aim to keep realistic (healthy) shapes for gals that look like a girl who takes care of herself, but doesn't necessarily hit the gym every single day.
- Her waistline can be thin and hourglass-ish, but the corset look of most Disney Princesses is taking it way too far. Even when I made a Disney-style Lemon Witch, I felt compelled to fix the waist line to make her less corseted. Without a little extra mass below the ribs and before the hips, Candace simply doesn't look right. I say that to the point where even the Lego version of her becomes preferable.
No. People exist in real life who are outside of "normal," in good and bad ways. Pretending they don't exists because using them in video games is either "harassment and shaming" or "sexual objectification" is complete bullshit. Besides, video games have no requirement to represent reality.
But, because this is an Anita Sarkeesian talking point, and because photoshopping slim/attractive video game characters into fat versions of themselves in order to represent "a fair, accurate, non-sexualized portrayal" of a human or human like being, became a prevalent thing, I offer this rebuttal:
Game characters are, by and large, CONSTANTLY physically active. If they were fat, they wouldn't be for long.
You can make fat characters in some games - Saint's Row has a great character creator - but that's because you want the look of one.
Games are all about fantasy and escapism, so of course we have fantasy, idealised characters, too.
As for it fucking up how kids look at bodies... what about the generation of people posting on here now? We played stuff like Golden Axe (if we're older) where you had an incredibly muscular barbarian wearing just a loincloth, and a huge-breasted amazon in an armoured bikini. Roll forward to the younger ones and you've got Lara Croft's pneumatic tits on her tiny body, and any number of bare-chested meatheads. This isn't a new thing.

What's unrealistic is thinking an out of shape looking person would be able to kick ass in most adventure rpg and fighting games... Lara Croft would not be able to climb mountains as an obese person. That's not how reality works. There are good games out there with people who are out of shape though. Look at Silent Hill 2 James Sunderland is the most out of shape dude ever. You can get him to run like 60 yards before he has to bend over heaving. That's part of the game. Traversing a demonic world as an out of shape sack of shit...
Can you imagine a how ridiculous Lara Croft would look of you added 50lb to her? Nobody would buy a game with 'average' in it anyway because it's supposed to be a fantasy, at the end of the day money talks.

I think it's hilarious to shame and blame companies for catering to their audience. Like honestly. Depends on the game. Michael from GTA5 had kind of a Seth Rogan body, but because that's his character. In most games you're running around and most are action games, therefore an "average" body wouldn't make sense. You imagine a dude like Seth Rogan fighting the Helghasts? Ehhh I don't see it xD Or imagine Lara Croft with the body of that girl in the pic... it makes no sense.
Plus, visually, it's better a muscular man, and a fit woman, than "average" which actually looks fat.
They should be presented exactly how the artist wants them depicted. There ARE fat people in video games. If it serves the story, let them be whatever. If you don't like a game because the protagonist is sexy, you don't have to buy it. But you certainly shouldn't be able to dictate to others how the fashion their art, nor should you be able to prevent them from expressing it.
In GTA San Andreas you can modify your character through diet and exercise.
Why? the whole point of video games is that they aren't reality so why would we make realistic games? they wouldn't make any money because people wouldn't want to play the characters.
I mean why would you have a soldier or a super hero, super villain, main character, explorer etc with an average body? I mean they give you the option to go fat if you want in games but I can guarantee you no one chooses it.
It should depend on the character. The body type should depend on thier fighting style, and likely their personality as well. A super serious swordsman would tend to have a fitter body than a grumpy police officer. It should also consern the game's style, such as Toon Zelda games vs comic book superhero games.
No that's kinda dumb, it would be kinda weird to see fat video game characters, although the girl looks kinda ok

Video games are fantasy! They're fiction! So why on earth should they "have to" be realistic in any way? I think that's very limiting. Having said that, the girl you posted DOES bear SOME similarity to Lara Croft. . .

Yes, we are a fat country. But we're fat in a different way. Fat on the INSIDE. Meaning that genetically our bodies r supposed to be pretty friggin healthy! But now, since increased portion sizes, sugar replaced fat, etc., there's been a buildup of "inside fat". So a skinny person can actually be fatter than a fat person.
