He is revered in turkey as the father of the Turks. After the Ottoman Empire was defeated in ww1, he became the first prime minister of turkey and built hundreds of schools, gave civil and political rights to women, and later established a democracy of wich has was elected the first president.

Yes i know him and the fact that Turkish people are far more open-minded rather than their southern and eastern neighbours is the result of Ataturk's reforms. Guys you should be happy that he existed in your history.
