Italians often claim to be descendants of the Romans who built the greatest civilization in the whole human history. But how true are these claims? Let's look at their genetics.
I found this Russian genetics chart while surfing the net. Look at the West Asian and Near Eastern influence on the Central Italians. Now imagine how much of these genes South Italians have! Check out how many non-European patrilineal ancestries there are in Italy.
Now that we have proved that Italians are not Romans genetically, let's compare the phenotypes of Romans and Italians: The founder of the Roman republic has Germanic facial features and blue eyes.
Same with Augustus who is blond and blue eyed.

Now let's look at a typical Italian. If we print "average Italian" in Google, we will get this: Modern Italians are brown skinned, dark eyed and have dark hair. So different from the Romans who they believe to be their ancestors. Take a look at an average Saudi male: Oh my God, this guy is so similar to an average Italian that I could have actually confused them! But what about other Europeans? Below is an average French male. This guy is clearly white and is more similar to the Romans than the Italians.

So basically modern Italians have nothing to do with the Romans, they are descendants of the slaves who were brought to Rome from Africa and Middle East. Northern Italians share some features with the Romans only due to their Celtic and Germanic roots. That's why Italians should stop claiming that they have created the modern civilization and stop being arrogant towards migrants and Northern Europeans.

They have everything to do with Rome. Rome and Italy were built by the conquest of Italy and conquest and enslavement of the mediterean and beyond. Rome was a multicultural and multiracial empire and city so you have huge numbers of immigrants and slaves from all corners of the world moving into Italy, without this the great constructions of Rome would never have happened. The Germanic Lombard people ended the western half of the Roman empire when the conquered Italy. By the end of the western Roman empire the Frank's had taken gaul, the goths had taken Spain, the Saxons and angles had taken briton and the vandals had taken North Africa. The Roman Empire continues in the east until the Ottomans captured Constantinople in 1453, whichbmeans it lasted around 1000 years after the western Roman empire collapsed.
Another anonymous social justice warrior desperately trying to show us how dumb she is. What happened to your "race doesn't exist" and "we are all the same"? If we accept that logic then yes the modern Italians are Romans too. Let's say that the modern Italians who "have nothing to do with ancient Rome" do exactly what your SJW theory demands: They stop claiming that they have created modern civilisation and stop being arrogant towards migrants (a tear was dropped) and northern Europeans.

It's not social justice, it's historical justice. Italians stole the Roman glory from all other peoples who were part of the Roman Empire.
You're basing brown eyes and brown hair in them being different. Obviously their genetics changed (evolved) during environmental influences. If you live in a hot area where the sun is beaming you're obviously going to get darker, can change the genetic makeup too so that they can withstand such heat from the sun. If they lived in Italy then romans are Italians ancestors. That's like saying black people ancestors aren't African. Black Americans, black latinos, black Asians, etc... if they were brought to their country before the modern ethic people of today then they are their ancestors.

The Roman Empire was a vast multicultural and multiracial melting pot bringing people in from all over the empire and beyond both immigrants and slaves. You just made the best anti-immigration argument I have seen in my life. If immigration from other mediterranean peoples (and a few non mediterranean) caused the Romans to go from one of the greatest civilizations on earth to Italians. Then imagine what immigrants from all over the world will do to the Italians, those poor bastards won't stand a chance. With this logic, most englishmen are not descendents of the English, many are them from somewhere else and they can not be counted as English. Because of their ethnical descendants.
Yes, that works perfectly for the English people. Englishmen are the descendants of the Anglo-Saxon invaders and not the Britons who inhabited these lands for thousands of years.
I spent 2 weeks in Italy, and Italians, especially Romans, are some of the most egotistical people on earth and love to think so highly of themselves. So naturally, it's not surprising that they would claim to be direct descendants of Romans
