Many men commented that it is as a turn off for them. It is why Islam tells women to wear Hijab. I'm happy that Hijab works well. Me myself I prefer women with hijab for marriage. At least it prevents from men who want to gaze and have sex with any woman they find in the street. The beauty of a woman is just for his husband. The same thing is true for the men. It's like "I'm not a sex tool, you can't approach me".(I don't mean women without hijab want to sell themselves, at least it's not true for every woman). Women without hijab have their beliefs and culture and it is respectful and they feel safe with their culture. I don't want to force it on westerners, I'm just telling what is the reason that Islam recommends Hijab for Muslim women.
Vese of Quran:
โO Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them. That will be better, so that they may be recognised and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.โ (Quran 33:59).
@Makarinas Your logic is insulting people!! You are so angry, cause you have no logical reason to defend your point.
I don't like to insult you, because my religion forbids me to do so. But to reject what you say, it is just enough to say that, even though you know nothing about me, you attribute all these to me!! Weird!!๐
@Makarinas Your words describe your personality!!
@behnam1999 All religions teach that a women should dress modestly. There is something particular about Islam and Arab culture where you are obsessed with the womens clothing or freedom to express themselves and not the men's inner sinful thoughts and actions.
Islam teaches women need to be covered because their promiscuous, Christianity teaches we all suffer sinful thoughts which we need to control and repent for.
I'm suggesting a little self reflection.
@Makarinas 1. I am not living in your country. 2. I am not an Arab. 3. You are racist towards Arabs.
@JimboGB First of all, having lust and a desire to reproduce, is totally a natural desire that you can never condemn. It exists in both men and women and you can not condemn them for having such desire. The important thing is to satisfy this desire in the right way, through marriage.
Although this desire exists in both sexes but it appears to be much stronger in men, at least at face level. The main reason that Islam tells women to wear Hijab is not to protect men from doing sins, but to give value and personality to the woman. Woman is like a sex slave in West, why? Look at all those pornography, they mainly highlight woman's sexual appeal!!! But in Islam it's quite different. Islam does not look at women as porn actresses, does not look at women as slaves, it gives them personality and protects them from sick men. You can take a look at the rape rate in Europe and US and compare it to Iran!!
33:59
โThis is more appropriate so that they may be known [as Muslim women] and thus not be harassed [or molested].โ
Men, whether they confess it or not, are slaves of lust and desire.
โข Hijab protects women from such men; it symbolizes that she has been sanctified to one man only and is off-limit to all others.
โข Hijab contributes to the stability and preservation of marriage and family by eliminating the chances of extramarital affairs.
โข Finally, it compels men to focus on the real personality of the woman and de-emphasizes her physical beauty. It puts the woman in control of strangersโ reaction to her.
This is the main purpose of Hijab.
On the other hand, Islam has also considered men's desire that might lead them astray!!!
โSay to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: And God is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbandโs sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! Turn ye all together towards God, that ye may attain Bliss.โ [The Holy Qurโan, al-Nur 24:30-31]
Why more emphasis on women? Simple, women are symbols of beauty. But again men are prohibited to act and dress with the intention of sexually drawing women's attention towards themselves. It is totally prohibited.
So Islam had told women to control how they dress and has told them not to look at men lustfully, and has told men to control their sights!!! Two-way!!
@JimboGB And no, Hijab is not a symbol of oppression. How is it that when nuns cover their heads and bodies, it implies dignity and respect, but when it comes to Muslim women it is a symbol of oppression? We want this respect and dignity for all Muslim women!!
Feminism was a reaction to the harsh and extremist attitute of Christianity towards women!! Feminism started in the west not in Muslim countries!! You want to know about the harsh tone of bible towards women, watch this:
For the Biblical Christian perspective, see what St. Paul says: โBut I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her headโฆJudge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?โ (1 Corinthians 11:3-5, 13) In simple English, it means that if a man keeps his head covered in prayer, then he is disrespecting Christ; and if a woman keeps her head uncovered in prayer, then she is disrespecting her man. For Biblical Jewish concept, see Genesis 24:65.
We are agreed on the fact both men and women are consumed by lust and the only instrument to fulfill that is marriage. That is an matter of agreement.
An man's lust for the woman he loves and his lust for an women down the street are too different things you have intermingled.
Hijab ins't about helping women but imposing Islamic standards of morality on them. Arab indoctrination.
The Habib is an force of subjection, not freedom.
In 8months in Iran 40,000 cars were confiscated due to not wearing the correct Islamic hijab. Your making women criminals because of mens sinful thoughts and desire, this is oppression of women however you try to mask it.
You only have to look to Iran in the 1960's and compared with today to see what oppression looks like.
"Look at all those pornography, they mainly highlight woman's sexual appeal!!" You will find pornography does that across the world, including Iran and the rest of the middle east.
"in Islam it's quite different. Islam does not look at women as porn actresses, does not look at women as slaves" ok you ask for it.
The Quran in Sura 23:5-6 says:
5 [Most certainly true believers] . . . guard their private parts scrupulously, 6 except with regard to their wives and those who are legally in their possession, for in that case they shall not be blameworthy.
The key words are "those who are legally in their possession." Maududi is a highly respected commentator on the Quran, and he interprets the plain meaning of the clause, saying that sex with slave-girls is lawful.
Maududi writes:
Two categories of women have been excluded from the general command of guarding the private parts: (a) wives, (b) women who are legally in oneโs possession, i. e. slave-girls. Thus the verse clearly lays down the law that one is allowed to have sexual relation with oneโs slave-girl as with oneโs wife, the basis being possession and not marriage. If marriage had been the condition, the slave-girl also would have been included among the wives, and there was no need to mention them separately. (Ibid. p. 241, note 7)
It seems an major difference between Christianity and Islam, in Islam in order to be honored (Both by herself and others), she must cover her hair, neck, chest, and shoulders. Westerners have fallen for Islamist propaganda when it comes to oppression of women and misogyny.
There is little discrimination against Muslim women in the West compared with the systemic and institutional oppression of Muslim women in muslim countries.
For crying out loud Saudi Arabia just allowed women to drive cars lol I guess that was to protect them agaist evil men too.
Secondly feminism came about in the early 1900's and mainly in the 1960's. This is after the enlightenment so predicated after christendom had fallen. You are talking about an society which isn't Christian, but an secular, liberal, progressive society. If they were fighting agaist Christianity they were an couple of hundred years out.
Womens freedom is an different discussion in the west which wasn't built on religious dogma like it is in the middle east and across the Islamic world today.
As an Christian we follow Christ's teaching as he brought an new covenant with new teachings. He is your only lord and saviour, come to Jesus.
@JimboGB The common misconception among world's people is that women are oppressed in Islamic countries!! But that's not the case. I am from Iran. Iran is an Islamic republic. According to statistics provided by young students here, 61 % percent of women are living a happy life in Iran while the number for men is slightly over 50 %. The world thinks it is a dark land here because it's Islamic. I recommend you to take a look at tourist reviews about Iran. It'll change your mind. Islamic and Persian culture (another misconception is that some people think we are Arabs!! I asked so many tourists and they told me before they travel here, they thought we are Arabs. They thought it is all deserts here!! We cut people's heads and etc!! Thanks to western propaganda!! We have Arab population over here, and we all like them and we all live together, despite the west's propaganda effort to separate Persian people, Arabs and Turks living in Iran) combined together have made a very happy lifestyle over here!! According to 2017 statistics related to divorce rate in world countries, Iran is among the 10 countries with lowest divorce rates, while US is the opposite!! Only 22 % of marriages in Iran lead to divorce!! Islamic laws have done so well around here, because they strictly prevent from extramarital affairs and promote the family foundation (Which Hijab is actually a part of it). In US each year, there are 900,000 abortions and 1/4 of women are raped by their Maharims (ie. Father, Uncle,...). There are many illegitimate children living in US which is so expensive for the US government to provide care for them!! This is not the case in Iran!! And as Quran says, Hijab is there to prevent it to be like this here!! That's why I say Hijab gives personality and honor to women which is robbed of them in western countries and protects the family foundation!! Why the propaganda? They want to weaken our societies and make us vulnerable targets!! Condemning Hijab!! That won't happen.
@JimboGB We do not have such thing as slavery in Islam. Islam condemns slavery and tried to eliminate this tradition among the Arabs!! I am a Shia Muslim. I believe in prophet Muhammad and the 12 Imams. And I admitt, they had servants working for them!! But guess what !! They were not slaves at all!!! The prophet and Imams told the Muslim community that they should treat their servants the way they treat their families and their children!! Buy them clothes that they themselves wear!! They even made plans to gradually liberate the servants!! They said if servants tried their best to learn and study and get literate they will be liberated!! So they both promoted learning and studying and liberation of servants or the so called slaves. And the plan was so intelligent!! It was gradual because you could not announce all of a sudden that from now on all slaves and servants are free!! It would create so many economical and social complications for the Islamic community!! Leaving behind a large number of unemployed ex slaves who need food and and a place to live in!! It needed a gradual step by step solution!! Our prophet and Imams were so eager to liberate their servants with little excuses!! And they provided them with enough food and security!! There is so much in Islamic history proving their generosity and kindness towards poor people and servant!! But again I want to tell they were not slaves they were part of their families!! The strategy worked. Look at our country. Look at Iraq. Look at other Muslim countries!! I haven't seen any Muslim family having slaves nowadays!! The pagan tradition (not Islamic) has long gone away!! So the Islamic law allowing sex with servants is barely applicabe in today's society. Even at those times it was not an oppression of women!! Polygamy is not a bad thing at all!! When Muslim men were killed in wars and left behind their widow wives and hungry children, the solution was to create an oppurtunity for them to have families!!
@JimboGB When the number of women in a society is higher than that of men, polygamy is the best solution!! (Not prostitution, like in western countries)!! Female servants were treated like wives. They were mostly war captives who had lost their husbands in wars against Muslims. To provide them with security and food they could marry Muslim men or be their savants!! They were treated like other members of the family!!
Okay, it is totally absurd to compare Christianity with Islam!! Christianity dicreminates between men and women from the very first day human was created!! They put all the blame on Eve and treat women as slaves!! I repeat it, slaves!!! In terms of inheritance, vows, possessions and respect women are of very little value in Christianity!! I can even bring verses from the bible for you and compare it with what Quran and the Islamic tradition says!! You like to open the discussion, I am ready here!! ๐๐๐
@Makarinas I am not sad at all! Do I really have to care about what you say? You only know how to insult people.๐
There's no point in wearing a hijab if you're still a whore. I've encountered SEVERAL hijabis who are the biggest whores but try to hide it with the excuse that they are modest. Meanwhile they have a caked up face, skin tight clothing and a rag on their head... that's not modest, and those girls are better off not wearing one at all.
I don't really think about it that much but some people dress them up really pretty.

It is rare where I live as well but I have seen a few women wearing them before. I don't really have an opinion on it.
I don't have much of an opinion on it. I think it does look quite pretty though.
I don't really think much about it. It's not my business.

If she lives in Arabia I can say this is the effective way for protecting from the sun but if she's wearing that thing because of her religion I can just say "God doesn't order that lol please read the Qur'an or at least make some search" No one can argue with me about this and believe me no one did 😆
If they wear it because they just like it, I'm OK with it.
If they wear it because their family says so, it's like wearing a bra, not wearing deep cleavage, not wearing short skirts or just yogapants. They should make that choice themselves.
If they wear it because their religion says so, it's protected by the 1st. Amendment.
Its stupid and not necessary, we are on 21. century just comeon why would someone cover their hair to keep away from males attention lol. Its a turn off for me, I don't like this shit.
I don't really care either way. I do find them sort of sexy honestly. But the type of women who wear them for religious reasons are not the type of women I attract. Haha.
I prefer Abaya the one in gulf countries
What is unattractive is the pointless one like they cover hair with obvious tits and ass!! Abaya looks more luxury! 💅💅
I don't wear Hijab but wear them well or DON'T anyway to each their own
@rcm1ah
Thanks, There's a lot of American women wants to buy Abaya like Selena Gomez they find it attractive! See my point is that Hijab meant to be (Attractive & Modest) Sadly Hijabi girls today make it look unattractive by wearing tight clothes. If she can't wear modest Hijab then why she bother!

she really made herself look weird. Most fashion Today are not made for Hijab so when they go try to look stylish with Hijab I don't blame Non muslims to judge them. The Abaya photo I posted is how Hijab look like. Hijab is hiding the sexy part and half hair.
I will talk about that on YouTube hopefully soon
I wish I had my Own when Living in Egypt with a husband I still have out there.
However, I was Given my own Scarf and Scarves (s). xx
Hijabs are pretty, I don't know why people stress over something so trivial.
I mean if the women who wear them, for the most part, wear them out of their own free will then there is no need to put it on blast. I think people are confusing the hijab for the full body covering where you only see their eyes sometimes.
I don't like them, they ruin a girl's beauty (which is its purpose).
well on the bright side you will never have a bad hair day ! :D
im neutral on the matter but i have seen some really nice looking girls wear them before it brings out more focus on to their facial features :)
It is an uniform (if that is the correct word to describe that) that Muslim Ladies wear, I have nothing against that and I have seen Girls wear that before where i Live 😊
I don't like the look of it, if I'm being quite honest.
It's complicated. I Don't like the religious mandate aspect of it. But certain styles look quite attractive.
I was a foreign western infidel living in Saudi Arabia for awhile, and I went to Turkey once.
No. We should be crusading against Saracens, not cavorting with them.
Well it's a head cover it's not meant to make a girl pretty or ugly it's meant for displince and chastity
๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ
Its a head scarf and I like it when some arab women wear it in middle eastern pornos.
I have no problem with hijabs. Anyone who does srsly needs to chill... how does it affect them at all?
no i don't like it... It hides one of the best features of women ;) their hair ^^
"and just curious white guys are attracted by hijab"
does nothing for me tbh... js
pretty. I associate it with religion tho not fashion.
No it's actually a little weird. I agree.
Yeah not in the "norm" at all
Lol why the button down for?
I dont like it in my opinion no offence
It's fucking ridiculous, in my opinion.
It's not my cup of tea.
I have no problem with it.
a part of religion respect it
it turns me off if i can't see the hair.
That burka action is hot. Love the mystery
