How? and define what you mean by "objectify"
And no I don't I mean they aren't degraded or demeaned and they are willing participants meaning none of this is against their will, they chose this and everyone can admire beauty.
Women objectify themselves. They compete with each other over body, dress, hair and makeup. Always competing to see who can get the most attention.
no. these women work hard to look that good and benefit from that.
No. Just like boys aren't being objectified in their own beauty competitions.
They do and don't just depends on how people see it.
Is it called a "let's individually value these extremely talented and accomplished women pageant" or an "appealing aesthetic features pageant"?
Objectification- Degrade to the status of a mere object.
Are they degraded to the status of a mere object? I don't think so. If these women are willingly contesting in beauty pageants, it shouldn't matter.
No I don't think so but everyone wants to be offended now.
i dont think so, men also participate in similar contest available for men. so why not women. competition is good if taken in a healthy way.
In a healthy way but I don't think Bacherlor or Bachelorette is healthy nor these modes necessarily. The Apprentice doesn't prove or disprove you as a business person it's a game show.
Men are sensitive about height and other things. Being bald but they were taught all you have to do is provide in the older generations. Young girls are still taught in white families you have to be skinny and the skinnier the better. Now we can weigh more through muscle and yoga and running and a tight ass as long as it isn't bulky. Oh by the way bleach your hair and if you're a ginger move to Europe.
These are partly tongue and cheek but when I ran my first marathon at 28 and could fit back into my retro 1998 Gap size 1 jeans from when I was 14 I was upset.
I weighed 8 lbs more. I was 112 lbs and 5,5 but I was only 103 lbs in those same clothes at 14. The difference was tone and muscle, I worked out everyday and earned it. But I still wanted to see 98 lbs on the scale. This is the problem we have.
what i meant in a healthy way is not about physical health though, its was more about competition taken in good spirits. and i think as men we also want to lose weight and look fit. being fit is good for yourself and not someone else.
According to the debate that you watch, are they saying objectyfying woman is negative or Beauty Pageant is negative?
I think it is fine, because most of them, I would believe, want to be in a pageant.
No. Beauty Pageants and the like are suppose to appreciate beauty.
It's more of a people problem, rather than the Pageant's fault itself.
I don't like it to be honest. I love how women look, but making them compete against each other does no good to them or society. Or at least that's what I think.
No because those women CHOOSE to participate. They aren't forced to compete then compared to all the other females
No but I think it feeds a sick narcissistic culture.
It is. They are certified like a treated like a piece of meat. Nothing more..
I don't think so, because they test your common sense as well.
I'd have to disagree with the common sense thing. while I haven't seen many, I have never seen the common sense judging portion.
Yes, it does. Beauty is not a talent. It is a gift passed down from your parents. I don't know why they have beauty talent shows. It's mostly for perverted ass men who wants to look at boobs and vaginas and possibly think about committing rapes.
NO more than Mr. Universe objectifies men.
People sign up to partake in these pageants, they are not objectified. They are doing what models do. They are CHOOSING to partake in a competition about looks.
No. Women are beautiful and these pageants are suppose to celebrate that but, for some reason they can get ugly.
The pageant is good for the women that some self - esteem. however, the woman damage their image and lose the crown.
women are obsessed with their own beauty. they'd objectify themselves anyway... .
If they are women willing sign up to them
Soooo its hard to point blame at anyone
No... I don't get this objectify thing to be honest. I doubt many people find objects sexy lul.
Yes. They're antiquated and sexist and we should get rid of them.
I want to agree with you bc you are right about them being sexist and antiquated, but the women in there enjoy them and like participating. For some, the pageants are really important to them.
@Sami365
Those women are slaves who have been convinced that chains and lashes are what they deserve.
No, they aren't. My friend used to do pageants and her sister still does. They love pageants. The things is, my friend is very much a tomboy usually too lol.
If it enables women to get scholarships and better career opportunities, let them enter these pageants. For myself, I never watch these events, but I do not think it does any great harm.
no, its not like they're forcing girls to participate
it all depends on the pageant see some pageant do bc of thier area of judging but i recently got in a pageant and i challenge me mental more than physical
No, people who think women are being objectified objectify women.
How is it different then those body building shows?
Of course they do - that's what they're for. Duh. They can showcase their beauty and talent. WTF?
Then mister olympia contests would also objectify men but nobody cares about that.
how can you define beauty? it's purely subjective. these kinds of pageants should be banned.
Yes. I think women should boycott pageants, rap videos, prostitution, and porn. Women should help each other out and not compete, participate, or make a career out of these things.
I don't see anything wrong with it. It's all about the bikini round! lol!
Yes women ranked through beauty if woman don't win it is because she wasn't beautiful enough
They can be but that's a function of the event more than men being crappy to women.
yes they do.. but that doesn't stop these stupid women from competing in such events.
of course they do. they are ranking women on beauty and charisma
So let me ask you this, does sports objectify men?
of course they do.
anything where someone is quantified by some objectionable quality is objectification. So what?
I don't think objectification is a bad thing. I think it's natural for either sex to objectify the other. It's part of attraction.
So you base your standards of life based on the performance of thoughs who 1. Get paid to do so and 2. Are the above average in their line of work to begin with.
I don't understand your statement... I never said anything about standards of life
And I disagree, marriages where one or both are objectified tend not to last because humans have a natural tendency to toss away objects once they become bored of them, Yet marriages that don't have a natural higher percentage to stay together
why would you marry someone you become bored of?
But that's what actually objectifing people does, when you objectify ( for example) women on a public scale then it effects the standards of life for all women.
how so
Because whether you believe It or not; in this society, it has been designed where the actions of the high standing few effect the many, when Kate Upton advertises a make up brand, they buy it. When Payton Manny advertises a brand people pay attention because people are naturally sheepish to where they cannot stop themselves from following a crowd and crowds follow people like them, the socially defined "Leaders".
And it is painfully obvious you have never been in a relationship before if you think the same excitement you get from the beginning will last throughout marriage, when people make that the base of their marriage it is destined to fall in on itself, which most people do when the objectify each other.
I've been married 7 years
Ofcourse, ofcourse. So then tell me, do you get the same sensations and types of excitement you did from when you were dating / first year of marriage?
she gives me more excitement now. she's more beautiful after the babies. more ass and tittles is a consequence of birth. and she is more experienced. she's been fucking me for eight years. she knows exactly what I like
here's a bit of advice. if you wouldn't bang her mom, you shouldn't be banging her. everyone ages... you just need to enjoy the result
No, because the events are purely voluntary.
So long as these women willingly participate, no.
exactly its not like anyone is forcing them to join at gunpoint lol
it doesn't, women know what they're going for
Did magic Mike objectify men?
im just gonna guess and say yes
How on earth do they do that?
The burden of proof is on them to prove otherwise.
who is them?
@CyberKnight good question. The pageant itself. They cultivate their message.
ahh. OK.
They choose to do it on their own so no.
In a sense, because it is mostly about appearance
Depends on how you are defining "objectify".
Nopes, it is their own choice to participate
I don't see it that way.
only if you see them as objects to begin with.
Yes, but who actually watches them?
No..
Yes, and either way they're stupid.
do people even watch those events lol
I mean yeah but women objectify themselves anyway.
Prove that you don't!
men are objectified as well
The child ones too yes.
of course not! they were meant as a form of art.
