I submit that there is nothing wrong with objectifying women.
Also, women line up to be objectified and compete for it.
Why?
Because it is hard wired into the female mating instinct that women want men to look at them and want them.
There is nothing 'wrong' with objectifying women, for that reason.
The idea that it is somehow wrong is a creation of Feminism, which is a bastard child of Marxism.
People also need to understand the history of beauty contests.
They go back to the pagan roots of Europe, when the young women would compete to be chosen to represent the maiden aspect of the Goddess at festivals. For this, the most beautiful and sexually-desirable young women were chosen.
Then, as today, winning a beauty contest gained a woman the attention of high-quality potential mates and presented other opportunities.
From this cultural history, beauty contests have descended.

Woman showing off their looks doesn't make them a walking vagina. The whole problem people have is that is focuses on one part of the woman, her looks. What about woman who do radio shows, all they do is show off their personalities so are they just ghosts with voices. Most people say that it's what inside that matters however it's a split between looks and personalities. Just as a shit personality can ruin a person with good looks, shit looks can ruin a person with a good personality.
Just as a woman who is at a beauty pageant will get most people to talk about her looks, a woman in a radio talk show will get most people to talk about her personality. Beauty pageants naturally only focus on one part of a woman however everyone knows this so anyone who can rationally think knows that there is also another side of a woman, which prevents objectifying.
Not always. Some beauty pageants have removed the sexualized swimsuit competitions and placed a heavier emphasis on the Q & A portion to better assess the women’s mind and not her other assets. Also, no woman is forced to participate, the ones who do are usually the women who embrace the ideology of the pageantry world.
Not as much as they used to now a days it's about being a good role model for young girls and representing a country, town or whatever. But personally I still hate the idea of it. Like it how us woman are supposed to be perfect and if they don't quick all the boxes were no good to society
Yes, they aren't crowned for their brains. People just do what everyone else does. How else do you explain reading about stupid celebrities or watching royal weddings.

Obviously.
Why would they be in bathing suits if they weren't?
Also... why aren't there those same things for men?
Yeah... exactly.

Iv seen quite a few pageants (not by choice). While modern ones in western society are rather... painful to watch... eastern ones are somewhat endearing, aside from china. While the process isn't exactly objectifying, the way it is presented is. Though the selection of those trying to get into a beauty pageant is rather disheartening.. Im not even going to go into the topic of child beauty pageants... That is both disgusting and depressing to think of.
I really don’t like them. It’s more than just “objectifying” women, it’s conditioning them... when you see young girls and boys, playing and taking interests in things, without interference with respect to society’s gender roles, we all see that as “sacred formative years in childhood” yet then society, turns around and messes with girls, saying what they can’t do, how they should be, how beauty is most important. I’m not even trying to get side with anything, but I see much sadness in it.
Yes because these are usually organised by men for a form of sexual gratification.
I remember when I was young, in my teens, Miss World used to be on the TV and the commentary was basically misogynistic (I didn't notice at the time because I was a randy teenager but looking back it was diabolical).
Do people still hold beauty pageants? My only knowledge of beauty peagent is from that one Sandra bullock movie
Does that mean they are the center of attention and that they need to good looking to win? if you are a real feminist you would say that these women take charge of their lives and do what they want and if men are willing to support it dollars, scholarships and jobs then it's ok. Its the men who are being taken advantage of. But they aren't because like the women they do it for their enjoyment.
It is and it isn't.
One side; yeah it comes straight down to looks.
Other side; if the women agreed to this and enjoy it, is it wrong?
Just like mr. universe shows and models in general. They are a way for women to objectify themselves. Most patriarchal societies would frown upon or prohibit such events to prevent that objectification.
You have to do other shit in beauty pageants, right? Like answer questions and perform a talent. So the beauty part isn't exclusive to physical form.
No its not. Women aren't forced to participated in it. Too there's bodybuilding for men and it's just a ways to show off your body.
I believe the women in those pageant are not forced into it.
Objectifying woman:They are but no one is forced into them. Apart from the children's ones but that's ousually their parents.
Yes, they are a way to objectify women, but honestly, I think most girls secretly like being objectified.
Yeah but then again, they put themselves in that position so..
The grown up one for adults is bad but when they do it to little girls they are totally disgusting ...
you can't objectify the willing. Nobody is FORCING anyone to sign up for any beauty pageants. The girls CHOOSE to, knowing full well that they'll be parading up on stage in their swimming suits. Sounds to me like, uh, they kinda like it.
No, its a way for some women to fluant their beauty and brains. I don't see anything wrong with it tho.
Yeah, but I don't think they're evil. I just find them kind of dumb.
Beauty pageants a way for women to objectify themselves.
You women need to stop playing the victim and take responsibility for yourselves.I think it's a way for women to compete with each other to be the most beautiful. Same as how men compete to see who's the strongest/best in sports.
Well... They're given a title, loved for their appearance, not often known by said name, but the aforementioned title... Yeah probably.
