i had sex with a 26 year old girl when I was 18, and would have happily had sex with her when I was 16, had I met her. "Disgusting" is a weird/subjective word. Unless they are models, just about any two people having sex is "disgusting," in my opinion.

I think our sex laws are strange. I entirely understand why pedophillia is outlawed, but once someone reaches an age when they start making their own life decisions, it starts getting into 'grey area.' Two 16 year olds are allowed to have sex with each other. Why? Why is someone's choice to have sex as a 16 year old perfectly okay, as long as it's with another 16 year old? I'm not saying it shouldn't be okay, I'm just saying that the moral dilemma is very nebulous.

I would argue that the main issue is that we don't want anyone to be taken advantage of. But what does that mean? What is the "advantage" an older person has over a younger person? I suppose the answer is "confidence." Unfortunately, there is no way to quantify that. We all simply assume that people get more confident as they age. But there are inevitably going to be cases that deviate from this assumption. What if the 16 year old girl is brimming with confidence and the 23 year old is always depressed? Can you still say he took advantage of her when there were no vulnerabilities that he harped upon to coax her into sex?

I'm not asking because I know the answer. I'm asking because I don't know. It's all so ambiguous to me. One of those "not-touching-it-with-a-ten-foot-pole" things. I'm sure someone would be pissed no matter which answer I give (assuming anyone reads this).

I really don't care. If it's the age of legal consent and they both mutually agreed on hooking up then so be it, what ever the consequences are, it's on them. Better use protection properly to avoid an unwanted and unplanned for pregnancy.
