Indians are racist for sure but most racist? I doubt that.

    1. Politically incorrect: Your average Indian is not aware of political correctness. I have seen Indians call black people n**ro (not n***er) . Their intention is not always racist but they just don't know the negative canonation associated with these words. Or that saying words such as these is uncool.
    2. Preferance to be with people of same lifestyle: In India, most housing areas consist of people having similar lifestyles. And sadly, someone having different lifestyle than that isn't preferred. For example, in a housing area which consists mostly of vegetarians, a non-vegetarian isn't really welcome, citing reason that "the smell of meat and seafood cooking is too strong". Many housing areas do not rent house to bachelors because bachelors have a different lifestyle which, they think would create nuisance for other people in the area. And due to point 1, they aren't aware that such thinking is in fact wrong.
    3. Only two questions cannot be absolute measure of a country's racial tolerance or tolerance for others
    4. Pakistan is apparently in less racist countries. Well good for them but their religious minority is declining (from 10% to 3%) whereas in India religious minority % is big. Same may be said about Lebanon for they also have a big % of religious minority. That goes to prove my point 3 which is, a community may be tolerant in one area but that is not necessarily measure of their general tolerance.

Obviously not all but mostly they are very racist. How do you expect people of a country to not be racist to others when they discriminate among themselves for caste group? They discriminate among themselves a lot. See the social media, how hateful words Indians say to Pakistanis and Bangladeshis, acting like they own us and we're their slaves.
They mock their own dark skinned girls calling them n**, showing both colorism and racism at the same time. Look at Indian boys constantly calling Bangladeshi girls prostitutes, while in reality our rape rates are far more less and women's contribution to the economy is much higher. Indians are too arrogant and greatly lack respect of other people.
They purposely build dams and sign projects that promise to harm our economy so that we gave to import for them.
I don't hate all Indian people because many people are actually sweet, but I definitely feel like their politics, media and society are pretty fucked up.

First of all, your rape rates is much more lesser due to the population and Bangladesh is a Muslim country. I doubt the authority will take action so many cases were not reported because they know no action will be taken. Secondly, I couldn't stop chuckling when you said Bangladeshi women contribute a lot to the economy. Name me some well known Bangladeshi female icons. Women in your country have to work hard because your men are lazy.

@ilovecurvychick Okay what does religion have to do with rape? Nothing. Regarding your last statement, it's not true. Women started working after several campaigns that encouraged women to learn labor skills and work, and promoting female education. The main part of our primary sector is agriculture. If you know the method of farming then you also know that most of the "stages" of farming are done by women. The main part of our secondary sector is garments and textile, where over 60% of employees are women. So when I say women here have a huge contribution to the economy, I meant it.
Patriarchy exists in the entire subcontinent, but I can safely say our condition is far better here than in India and Pakistan. I know not all of India is sexist, and south India is far more advanced than north India, and I honestly admire how developed some places in India are, like Kerela.
We don't need to have a female icon to prove that we are better here. Doesn't justify Indians calling us prostitute.

You're basically ignoring what I said and behaving in a way it's justified to be racist. I never denied we have nothing bad, I know about the illegal immigrants.

Indian border guards have shot many innocent people who did not even intend to do any harm in the first place. Farmers, little children, teenage girls. Not only that but they have mutilated the dead bodies too. Explain that?

See, I did not even mean to start an argument like this in the first place. You guys started bringing up this topic like your life depends on how racist you can be to us. Carry on with more reasons for why you should treat us badly, let the world see more of your racist side. I'm outta here.

Before criticising a nation and playing victim publicly, you should take the responsibility of the consequences.

I doubt that. That study didn't specify the demographics of its respondents.

Furthermore, preference and racism aren't synonymous. Racism reeks out of intolerance of diversity while preference is merely favoring a certain race without inducing harm among others.

As for the Indians, I think this is more of preference than racism. Last time I checked, Indians are one of the most tolerant people when it comes to diversity. Otherwise, they wouldn't immigrate to other nations.

I would suggest the Indians you met were well educated worldly and tolerant individuals, but India itself is a very different thing and is a very new country as well as being made up of so many different ethnic groups, castes and races that were never united until the British came. India has a long way to go but they are making strides. If you look at the list they are nearly all very poor countries or have a lot of poverty.

I have NEVER met a racist, rude Indian. They are very nice and tolerant people. Even the Indian pervert guys are polite people. What about Europeans? I know plenty of racist, rude, outrageous Europeans but European countries are mostly blue. (I know many Europeans that are very polite and nice too.) I think "disliking neighboring countries from other races" is not directly related with racism.

Not exactly, the thing is being a country with diverse religion and cults and sub divided society in classes, generated a social civil war among people, which still prevail in rural society of India
And since we are not a developed country, we don't have much urban part. So yeah there is racism but it's not based on black and white or color basis, it's based on ancient cast division, which developed indifference with time!
And it's totally fascinating to see how those walls are racism are dissolving with knowledge, technology and western influences.

@Halucinator defaming my country is different then, placing the truth clearing the confusion of your country, you are a young lad, you will will learn it with time!. .

I'm interested to know exactly how they defined 'race'. Because if they included caste and categorized that as race, then yes, you'd expect India to be top of the list. South Korea's a lot lower on the list than it should be though. In that 2010–2014 World Values Survey, quoting figures directly from the source, it was actually 44.2% of South Koreans who reported they would not want neighbors of a different race, which would put them top of the list instead of the Indians. Look it up- your table's wrong.

This is because of Korean ethnic nationalism- in South Korea, they literally believe in Harry Potter-style "blood purity", with only Korean "Minjok" (aka 'pure-bloods') deemed to be true Koreans based on their firm conviction that they are purest descendants of a legendary genitor and half-god figure called Dangun, resulting in discrimination toward people of both "foreign-blood" and "mixed blood", who are commonly referred to as "Honhyul" (aka 'Mudbloods'). India's nationalism is primarily religious, not racial. South Korea's, on the other hand, is almost entirely racial, with no religious elements remaining whatsoever. So they're the most racist country on Earth, not the Indians.

    Indian and I agree.

We are so racist that we even call names to the people of the other states of our own country. We have strict preferences, now, whether they're intense enough to be labelled as racism or not but this doesn't change the fact.

There are so many things on which we discriminate like caste, region, colour, age, gender, sexual orientation and of course, race etc.

I've been mocked all my life because I look like an East Asian in this South Asian country.

Nonetheless, I don't fully agree with this statistics. US police department is notorious and Australians are so racist that they even kill the South Asian students and Great Britain is the root of all racism.

There is no legal or physical (violence) discrimination on the grounds of race here though.

Not really. I think Indians are okay in general. I haven't met an outright-inyourface racist one in my experience.

The people in Germany have a superiority complex and are likely to point how you look funny in their eyes as a brutal truth. Philippines, Thailand and South Africa - these countries are pretty racist in my opinion more than others. I call it the hustler parasitical nations where they'd suck up white people's ass too easily and set white people as the the model of ultimate beauty standards. The plastic surgeries, they take, really speak for what they think is beautiful. Coloured eyes, blonde or brown hair , big boobs, a sharper nose, skin whitening, the desperation to breed with white people to create beautiful offsprings etc.

I became suspicious as soon as I saw that it's Washington Post -- their credibility hit the rock bottom and penetrated it further.
Then I became even more skeptical when I've noticed research has been done by al-Swedistani reseachers.
And then I noticed that in that very same research there's a mention of a research of "most diverse countries" done by the same people, where my country (which has, mind you, nearly 190 ethnicities!) is tagged as "more homogeneous", I dismissed it as absolute bullshit.

I think the parents and older people can be quite 'traditional'. The Indian guys I met are very nice and respectful good men, but I dunno em' all and the conversation is never that deep :p
sad, people are that hung up on something as simple as living by someone-I like by white people, black people, Asian people, Muslim people (dunno ethnicity), and I don't even care... it's cool to hear different languages and see different things.

It's funny how people here are mostly arguing against this based on interactions they've had with Indians online and in the west and then try to point out borderline ridiculous selection biases in the study. I think a tell tale in this study is that culturally homogenous countries tend to show less tolerance of other races while culturally diverse countries tend to show more tolerance which makes sense. What's getting people worked up over Thisbe is that it runs against the narrative that Americans are crazy racist people. If you've ever bet spent much time outside the US you'd realize that this simply isn't the case.

i doubt this would be true but yeah everyone is entitled to their opinion.
if this survey is done in the US , then it's no surprise to me since indans have been stereotyped that we date and marry in our own race and don't prefer other races. but the problem is that the moment a indian guy or girl dates someone from the other race, people don't even for a second to judge them and demean them.
FYI to the people who think i am sitting in inda and making this comments should be disappointed since i have many relatives and friends abroad with whom i am in touch and understand what is happening in those countries.

As far as I'm concerned, a survey like that is almost meaningless. I draw no conclusions from it whatsoever.

There are so many variables, so many ways to define things, no real way to measure it, so much unintentional bias in the wording. Plus it's just one study which is NEVER very reliable.

So far I've never met any racist Indian. The ones I met are mostly friendly and respectful most of the times.
This chart seems reallyyyyy wrong tbh. I dont think its accurate at all. Where did Spain go? There's lots of racists here (not more racist one tho). How about Athens? Also many racists there. Lebanon second racist one? I doubt that.

I really wonder who and how the hell did they come up with this chart.

I'm surprised Japan isn't higher and overall it's probably a good rough evaluation. I'm general bias tends to decline as societies become more integrated. That is a pretty well known phenomenon. The societies in the top pretty much all share one common theme. They all lack integrated diverse societies in comparison to the larger portion of the former English colonies which are almost all blue blue blue.

Work in a team of Indians and you'll learn. Come out of that Bollywood worshiping Pakistani mentality. Everybody is fine when things are normal. You see the real face in abnormal situations.

Having said that, being racist is natural and perfectly normal. Everybody has natural racial preferences. What matters is if you make decisions or take actions that show that you let race get in the way.

@jondahljensen I commented on two other opinions other than mine and that too for refuting your hateful comments towards my country. Rapes happen in the UK too. UK is just one little step back from India when it comes to rapes. India's population is 1.3 billion and UK's population is just 65.14 million. India is way too high compared to UK when it comes to population but it's a shame that a developed country like yours is just a small step back in rape statistics than an undeveloped country like mine. This is a typical "pot calling the kettle black" scenario.

They have a lot of self-hate and like to talk shit about their own men. And would go to any length to get the attention of a white man. Now that's my personal experience, yours can be different.

i'd say it's pretty true. Indian people tend to suck, largely since their cultures tend to be caste-based and rigid, and they are born with an inherent entitlement complex.

I agree wholeheartedly. we even manage to discriminate on basis of caste which isn't even a physical feature but rather a social construct.
