Typically I think a leader needs to be an incredibly tough person mentally, capable of making difficult decisions (sometimes ruthless ones) assertively that cannot benefit everyone. They cannot be too charitable and nurturing. They generally have to be a little bit ruthless to demand excellence from their followers and also make the difficult trade-offs that cannot benefit all of their subjects.

I think males traditionally have had an edge in this regard but possibly only because of social conditioning. I have seen females make very competent and tough leaders, but not necessarily by adopting characteristics that we might traditionally associate as "feminine".

It is only in a few instances where I could see a "maternal" type of leader being superior to a "paternal" one, but I don't see this as a simple male vs. female issue. I could very well see a "paternal" female leader just as I could see a "maternal" male leader, but I think the "paternal" types of characters have an edge holding leadership roles in many areas.

One thing to do is just look at history and not in terms of biological sex, but what types of characteristics have typically created the most competent leaders. If this "maternal" type of approach to leadership was ideal, more male leaders rising to the top would have likely adopted this strategy, even in societies where females were not permitted to be leaders.

Men. And please don't accuse me of being sexist. But I think men are better leaders, because they are more naturally masculine and less emotional than women are.

A leader can't be depending and making decisions with their emotions, but rather his logic. Women naturally are more emotional and tend to resort to their emotions for answers, which can it most cases is the wrong decision to make.

And lastly to be a leader a person has to have a strong personality in terms that they might have to be vocal and confrontational with others to get them to be inspired to follow along with an agenda. And women are naturally less confrontational than men are.

I am so sick and tired of men being praised an getting credits for women´s work, in my (personal) experience, men often rely on women to do seemingly small tasks or to help them out of a mess they made. I agree that men tend to be more charismatic leaders, but the person to get shit done is most often, in my life, a woman. Why do we have to be background figures and supporters?

Men because they primarily act based on logic. We, women, are capable of anything. But we can also be a bit emotional. 😊

Truthfully I think men in general. There are some notable female leaders through out history, and obviously some incompetent male ones, but I think men are more likely to make tougher decisions where women try to appease everyone. Appeasement and accommodation isn't always possible. An example, a woman on here when talking about Somali pirates, thought it would be a good idea to force companies to have insurance on all the crew members so that ransoms could get paid. Her theory, was if they got what they wanted, everything would be fine and the crew would be unharmed. The problem with this thinking, is that A) the crew is still defenseless, vulnerable and at their mercy. B) You just made piracy a more rewarding industry, now everyone is going to hijack commercial ships. C) There is still the issue of theft and the impact of global trade lines being disrupted. The clear cut answer to this problem is to defend the shipping lanes with force, since millions of people depend on those goods safely reaching their destination. If a few violent pirates are killed in the process, well then that was there choice. She was against the idea of arming the commercial ships, but the pirates are the aggressors and are already armed. If you give them more money and wealth, they will supply with more arms and ships, pirating more frequently and ruthlessly. Just a small example.

Goes to show how retarded some leaders are. You could ideally just sent marine fleets to wipe them out on a semi regular basis

Men. That's not to say women can't be good leaders but in general men are better suited for it for several reasons. One they are more direct then women so there is authority, its clear cut and communicated well. Two men compartmentalize better then women so there is no emotional attachments involved with their decisions (in general, obviously you have to take the individual into consideration this is just a rule of thumb). Three its been proven that men are more able to push aside their feelings to complete a task and are more readily forgiving (studies show that men make up better after conflict then women which creates more harmony amongst men who work together). So I think its men, again as a generalization.(also people respond better to deeper voices, they seem more authoritative I suppose).

Men and women either of them can be a good leader but situations & capability of a person mite vary from person to person.

For now I would say MALE because we don't have many examples of female leaderships around us, it could be their lack of presence or mite be a male dominance.

I believe more Women are going to become leaders for countries
I believe a unknown Woman is going to go against Donald Trump
and it will be someone who we would never thought would run for
President and i predict that she will win and the it will be a landslide.
I will say she could be a Republican turned Democrat or could just
challenge the Republican party ticket by running up against Trump.

Sex doesn't make someone a better leader. Believing men are superior leaders because they are men is nothing more then ignorance on the subject. To think otherwise is simply an uneducated opinion. I've known plenty of women in leadership roles who were far superior then the men they replaced.
Do the research yourself, open your mind and get educated.

Dumbest topic ever... Humans can be so stupid in their quest for superiority. The pets we once trained and view as inferior life forms are sometimes smarter and far more acceptable than we could ever imagine.

sexuality has no basis in who would be better. it's about character and political affliation. for example. Le Pen, who is strong willed and shares belief with a lot of people she'd make a good leader. Hillary Clinton who is war-eager, and flip floppity would make a horrible leader

Women cuz they handle thingd calmly. But the scientific answer would be men. Because it has been proven that we can process things faster as we're talking. While women need a little more time to think about things.

It's entirely based on the person. Gender or race should be completely ignored. Whoever has the best track record and the most qualified should get the job.
