I just heard a feminist say that asking women to make you a sandwich is sexist  “you make us a sandwich”

I think it depends on the girl, how you say it, the pre-text. I thinking making anything for the one you love is an act of love, NOT because I cannot or that she's a woman or anything of the sorts. My exgf would sometimes make me sandwich when her bff would have car issues & asked if I would check it out & fix it if I could. More often than naught I would for nothing simply because I like working on cars. I would never tell my girl "Bitch, you see me working in the sun the least you could do is get me a snack!" That's just being disrespectful on any level in my book. I know I can, she knew I can, but it was just a small way of hers to show me affection aka act of endearment/love/affection. Never demanded it. at. all. I knew when she would do her paintings for the next fair, studio showing or request that she would always have to take off her sandals, over shirt & wash her hands like a million times just to brew another cup of tea. Instead, I would just make it for her & bring it to her studio rather wasting all that creating time on walking back & forth for something so small. It worked out for us. I loved doing it because I knew it would bother her, make her lose focus & to painters that focus & time with paint is important to her so why would I NOT want to support her in that. I think many people let their ego & pride get in the way of doing the smallest of tasks that may mean the world to their spouse/lover. To each's own I guess.

There are three ways I can see this be used. Only the first option is ACTUALLY sexist:
1. You genuinely think that it's what women are good for. (Note that this mentality is EXTREMELY rare in the west, if it even exists at all anymore)
2. You say it as a joke or just to piss her off.
3. You just want a sandwich and ask her to do you a favor the same way you would ask someone if they could make you a cup of coffee.

I believe that making your boyfriend a sandwich is a generous and loving gesture. But that doesn't mean he can't make his girl a sandwich every once in a blue moon too, when she is sick and unwell, as a way to own up. If it were only ever the girl doing it then I suppose it wouldn't be equal enough

I just don’t like making things for others unless I want to. So whether it’s a sister, brother, or husband giving me a order, I usually say no with a few exceptions

Depends. If you're asking it because you are just the first one to ask and would be perfectly willing to do the same for her in return if she asked, then no. If you're asking it because she's a girl and think she's supposed to cook for you, then yes.

On it's own, no. If my boyfriend just asked it's fine. It depends on how he says it, cause what he may have meant that I should go and do "woman things" cause a lot of men use that to be demeaning. But I'd never get to know a guy like that anyway.

Not really. I'm lazy so I don't know if id actually make you a sandwich lol , but my brother sometimes asks me to make him a sandwich and as long as he also makes me food in return or buys me snacks too I'll make a sandwich. It's just food , it's not a big deal. It's not sexist. As long as you aren't forcing the woman to make a sandwich for you or being abusive towards her about it , then why would she mind? it makes no sense to me why that would be offensive.
