Loss of religion. Loss of individual responsibility. Loss of purpose.
Well not loss of religion, but the increased hatred of religion. Also increased hatred of athiesm since (I consider athiesm to be a form of religion)
Overall too high levels of sensitivity but also a lack of general respect for other people’s beliefs, ideas, or lack there of.
Religion: “The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.”
Atheist: “A person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods.”
Okay.
Athiests worship athiesm. Christians worship god. Some dedicate their lives to the religion of not believing.
“the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
"ideas about the relationship between science and religion"
synonyms: faith, belief, divinity, worship, creed, teaching, doctrine, theology; More
a particular system of faith and worship.
plural noun: religions
"the world's great religions"
a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.”
You forgot to copy the rest of the definition from google.
That is why people use the adverb “religiously”.
Sorry to break it to you buddy but atheists don’t worship anything in particular regarding anything supernatural, so atheism can’t be considered a religion.
Theistic ideologies are commonly known as faiths or religions. Many ideologies have the suffix ‘ism’; for example, liberalism, socialism, and communism but, in the case of ‘atheism’, the ‘ism’ ending has merely been inherited from its root: ‘theism’. The prefix ‘a’ turns the meaning around to the negative, that is, ‘not a belief in a god’, so ‘atheism’ is as far from a faith or religion as it’s possible to get.
You obviously didn’t read the other definitions.
As I said, I consider Athiesm to be a form of religion. I also consider many idealogues to worship their ideologies and therefore treat their ideologies as religion.
I believe isms can be forms of religion because Individuals who worship their ideologies and act on them religiously act just as fervently as Christians and jews.
These are superficial similarities and if they make atheism a religion, they make political parties and table tennis clubs religions too. That is obviously absurd.
If religion is only confined to the one denotation you provided then tell me, are these scentences not proper English?
“After that, the lessons were shouted in my ear, religiously.”
“He practiced religiously to ensure he would score the next winning goal.”
Religion has many definitions, connotative and denotative.
I therefore believe it is accurate (and even reasonable to an extent) to attribute the definition to certain isms according to the following definitions from Webster’s dictionary
Religion:
“ a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices”
Religious;
“scrupulously and conscientiously faithful”
I also wouldn’t say that devotion and faithfulness are superficial similarities, since they are the defining characteristics of the term.
Also, theism and religion are not the same thing.
Atheism is not an affirmative belief that there is no god nor does it answer any other question about what a person believes. It is simply a rejection of the assertion that there are gods. Atheism is too often defined incorrectly as a belief system.
Let’s spell this out, atheists have no beliefs in common, no gods of any kind, nothing they worship, no scripture, no shared values, and no dogma. They have no clergy, no schools, and no sacred buildings. The only thing all atheists share is a lack of belief in gods.
Older dictionaries define atheism as “a belief that there is no God.” Clearly, theistic influence taints these definitions. The fact that dictionaries define Atheism as “there is no God” betrays the (mono) theistic influence. Without the (mono) theistic influence, the definition would at least read “there are no gods.”
Religion does not require scripture, a diety, dogma, clergy, or any of what you listed.
Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs, which essentially does require everything that I listed.
I guess government is a religion.
You didn’t answer my question. Also, where’d you get that definition from.
@Zodiac10 thanks for proving my point.
@Stripes99 sounds like you lost the debate, at least you tried.
Have a good day!
Ok then.
Haha thats grand. How condescending. You didn't win anything.
The cleanup from the past generations
But that’s not unique to your generation. Every generation thinks that... lol and have been since... forever...
Well we are not the generation that denied groups of people their rights, and we are not the generation that poluted the planet almost to the point of no return, we are not the generation that act on greed and not for what's good for the whole.
All of those things are subjective, and not necessarily established facts, just your opinion. And, they’re not things that entire generations cause. Who says a generation of people denied people’s rights? And who decides what the common good is? Who says pollution is unrecoverable? You?
Every single generation in history thinks it got a raw deal. The ones that decide to fix things, and try their best, will be followed by a generation that thinks they didn’t- just like you.
Don't be dumb, every new generation will do some dumb shit yes, but not so many generations ago and we have segregation, slaves, witch burning and many other things. Each generation is better even if they make some mistake along the way, but the next one will be better then this one and so on.
Increase of ocean levels
Republican idiots will try to tell you it's fake, that it's not going to rise. When we know for a fact that they're slowly but surely, rising
Less resources, less jobs, pollution.
Automation; we're all literally f**ked

Global warming. ;)
By then, I’m sure there will be a technological solution.
in my opinion it's a made-up crisis in an effort to control the population. The much bigger issue will be over-population, and take over by foriegn cultures.
Uh no, it’s quite real. CO2 holds in heat, earth would be much colder if it wasn’t real, CO2 in the in the atmosphere burns carbon intensifying heat, while the heat is held in the atmosphere which affects the planet overall.
Oh boy, you've bought right into all that bullshit haven't you.
Thirty years ago we were entering a mini-ice age. That was all the rage. But nothing has changed in a big way anyway. Don't buy into all that crap, it's fake science.
Oh, you’re one of those guys who argue without an explanation, I just told you the science behind it.
Thermometer records kept over the past century and a half show Earth's average temperature has risen 1 degree in Fahrenheit. Climate change encompasses not only rising average temperatures but also extreme weather events, shifting wildlife populations and habitats, rising seas, and a range of other impacts.
Wow. 1 degree. And that's not even validated cuz of the way it's measured. No, this is about the silliest junk science there is. But you go ahead, hopefully it works for you.
Have a good day!
