It can cause mental health problems down the line, including low self esteem and identity issues. However, staying in the original culture can cause problems too, and may supersede the former, so whether it is right to adopt interracially is usually only ever seen years later, and is determined on an individual basis.
It's better if a child is raised by member of their own race. Races of people evolved to be together they fit with each other. Of course in the case of orphans sometimes you have to take what you can get.
Just looks? That which shapes our bones, our teeth, decides which diseases we are susceptible or resistant to, decides our hormone levels, which drugs work on us somehow does not affect the way we think and the cultures we form? In which world is this possible?
It's a bit weird if totally white adopts blacks. It's like a golden retriever would have chihuahuas as puppies. It could work out tho. 😊 @Ámayas_20 I hope you don't think I'm a racist now. 😃
@Ámayas_20 I think the opposite skin colour makes a difference. Also smaller things like hairtype. It looks different to me, but it's not necessarily a bad thing.
Hair color and race are related. There are many human phenotype or "races" with quite similar facial features, but different hair colors. Hair, eye and skin color are all "racial" characteristics. A Scandinavian tends to be on the blonde or ginger spectrum, while a South-European tends to have dark brown or black hair.
@PrettyRegular It's just not true that they're so different, most racial differences are cultural which would be eliminated in these circumstances. All that's left is physical differences, no physical difference should change anything for any human being. I'm sorry but I cannot see anyone who views this as an issue as anything but either ignorant or just plain racist.
@Ámayas_20 I get that and I wouldn't say it's a problem to me. Simply just looks a bit original to me if kids look very different than their rasing parents.
The reason why most interracial adoptions are white couples adopting non-white children is because there are more non-white children then there are white children who are up for adoption. White children are in high demand but low supply in most adoption agencies. This results in the competition for white children to be VERY stiff and VERY expensive. In addition to that, a couple can easily be waiting for years before an eligible white child pops up in their area.
Adopting Black, Asian or Hispanic children is less competitive and cheaper. If a couple truly wants to be a parent, they can become parents much sooner if they are open to all races. However, if they strictly want a white child, then they're going to be waiting for several years before they can become parents.
@Starrk, I've heard it's often the case because of white children tends to live in wealthier families and therefor they doesn't tend to be put up for adoption as frequently in addition to they're often from a richer country, so the system is different and most Nordics who can't take care of their children tends to abort them away instead. In Scandinavia for instance it's a taboo to put your own children up for adoption and therefor the majority of women in an unfortunately situation abort them away.
I'm adopted and knew it from I was five years old. I didn't have much problems with it. Looking different than my parents itself isn't a problem, but strangers choose to come with weird comments and questioning everything. My parents have never pretended to be my biological ones and I've never claimed them to be so either. Yes, I do call them "my real parents" because they're so, but it's not the same as saying they're my biological ones.
Sure, I agree that a parent is whoever raised you and it doesn't have to be biological. I do think though that many people who are totally set to only adopt a child from the same racial or ethnic background as themselves do so because they don't want people to know they adopted a child, like they only want a child that actually looks similar to themselves. Is that stupid? Absolutely.
As I lived there since I was 6, I knew very little of my Latin or African cultures. My parents never did anything relating to the holidays or culture from either country they are from. Truly Americanized. Grandparents however, are a different story... They still all the things they used to before leaving.
Race/cultural bias. "Oh , they won't have an opportunity to grow up as (insert racial type here)." So what? Obviously, that group failed them, or they wouldn't BE up for adoption.
It still continues to amaze me, no matter how often I see it, how people will have a such a tribalistic mentality, and that is all race comes down to. There is nothing wrong with interracial adoption and in fact there could be benefits to it.
If proper care is taken it's fine but there is a lot of unscrupulous practices in the adoption practices of African countries. There have been many kids that had their birth-mothers tricked.

White can can be against it if they want idc. U don't trust em. The world wouldn't be up against black men like they are if it weren't for whites. They spread HATE. A Iranian woman admitted to me they're very racist, " look who they elected in office" Her words, not mine
I've met people that were adopted by parents of a different race. A lot of them had identity issues. It's not as simple as saying "ignorance" or "racist".

Why do race matter? It's just looks and it doesn't affect you that much other wise. Not everyone in a family is equally tall either or looks the same.

I agree with you. Race shouldn't matter when it comes to adoption.
I stopped responding to your questions a while ago. I don't get it. You are a guy who seems to believe in race and the stereotypes that go with them.
I don't understand why you would ask such a question.

@Ámayas_20 I hope you don't think I'm a racist now. 😃
I really don't understand why that would be strange, how is it different from a couple who are both blonde adopting a brunette child?
@Ámayas_20 I think the opposite skin colour makes a difference. Also smaller things like hairtype. It looks different to me, but it's not necessarily a bad thing.
What difference would it make?
@Ámayas_20 Well looking pretty different. That's it.
I just don't understand how that's weird, may kids look nothing like their parents.
@Ámayas_20 Well different hair colour is different than a totally different race, but I agree that it's not a problem, if they are ok with it.

It's almost exclusively white people who adopt interracially.
Over 98% of interracial adoptions are white couples adopting non-white children.
Maybe because of they happen to live in a rich country and be wealthier? It may be a coincidence.
Yes, over 98% pure coincidence.

I don't see any problems with it... let these parents and children give and get the love they deserve
Because they probably wanna pretend like it’s their biological child in front of the rest of the world
Really? Evidence? Or are you just an idiot making shit up?
@HereIbe literally every case of children only finding out they were adopted in their 20s or never.
Lol if you’re just gonna be rude to start shit over nothing you’re only gonna get yourself blocked, Chad. My tolerance for moronism is exactly 0.

People feel as though it's weird because the children will grow up without their culture. As if Americanized people have culture to begin with. 😂
You’re so right 😂😂
As I lived there since I was 6, I knew very little of my Latin or African cultures. My parents never did anything relating to the holidays or culture from either country they are from. Couldn't tell you, because outside of the internet I have never known anyone to be adamantly against it.
Race/cultural bias. "Oh , they won't have an opportunity to grow up as (insert racial type here)." So what? Obviously, that group failed them, or they wouldn't BE up for adoption.
It obliterates both the parent's culture and heritage and the children's culture and heritage. In my opinion, should be illegal.
It may obliterate culture, certainly not heritage.
It still continues to amaze me, no matter how often I see it, how people will have a such a tribalistic mentality, and that is all race comes down to. There is nothing wrong with interracial adoption and in fact there could be benefits to it.
It can be viewed by some as colonial saviour behaviour. Can also be negativity around lack of education around the child's heritage or culture
Some small percentage of that parents race/community, might just be prejudice towards the race of the children.

Because there are a lot of kids from their own race who need help, and they are choosing to help other races over their own
Only when celebrities do it because they are only doing it so they can act like assholes but if someone wants to adopt a black kid go right ahead
Wait who acts like an ass joke about it? Are you referring to Angelina Jolie?
*Asshole
