Do you agree that Ts should be removed from the LGBT acronym?

Question

When a contestant on Survivor outed a "trans" player, someone in the comments section wrote, "Ts should not be in the same category as LGB." He was downvoted, and labeled a transphobic bigot. Then, a couple years later, a lesbian feminist appears on Tucker Carlson saying the exact same thing. Naturally, she received a lot of backlash from the irrational Left. For those of you who don't want to watch the video, she basically said she doesn't want to be grouped in the same category as trannies, because LGB are sexual orientations and they were born this way. Trannies on the other hand were not born this way, and transgenderism isn't a sexual orientation, and is not based in biological reality.

She's also concerned about some crazy Liberal states doing what Canada did, and allowing ANY man to legally identify as a woman, and gain access to women's facilities.

Anyways, do you agree with her, that trannies should be kicked out of the acronym?

This woman is absolutely right. I, personally believe transgenderism is a mental disorder. I would like to add that Transgenderism and Homosexuality as trends and pillars of the political left are contradictory and cannot stand together.

If the transgender movement is right, then there is no distinction between men and women as gender is a societal construct. That means you can't be sexually attracted to someone of the same gender because gender does not exist - its a social construct. So homosexuality, under that idea, doesn't exist.

So yes, it is just LGB. I like Candace Owens' view on it: It is similar to schizophrenia. Would you indulge a schizophrenic in their delusions and go out of your way to make them appear true, or would you refer them to a place they can get help out of a place of compassion in your heart? We want those with disordered - from the depressed, to the transgendered / gender-dysphoric, to the schizophrenic to get help.

We can choose compassion and consideration over indulgence in delusion.

I think it should all be gone. Because of the "LGBT" movement, California is teaching pedophilia as normal. How long do you think it'll be until NY and all the liberal states are pushing for that?

I've noticed the LGB-movement is working together with the T-community for the same reasons they're working together with the feminist- and left-movement. To get more rights and political attention it's more effective being many people, therefor they're working together. All of the groups separated would be very small, but they're many when lumped together. So, I understand the reasoning behind it and I'm disagree with it.

I don't think it's as necessarily to be lumped together today as in the past. The LGB-community consists of sexuality; who you're attracted to, while the T-community is about which gender you identify as, so why not separate them to avoid more prejudices and confusion in the future? In addition the LGB isn't considered a medical diagnosis anymore in the Western world, but transsexualism is still a diagnose in most Western countries. I also think the cross dressing culture like the drag one should be separated from sexuality.

Sexuality = Who you're attracted to.
Gender identity = What you identify yourself as.
Gender expression = How feminine or masculine you express yourself through clothing and body language.

Many misconceptions could be easily avoided if the differences between these categories were more distinguishable. Some people believes transsexualism, drag and homosexuality are all the same because of the system.

I believe the point of LGBTQ+ is to somewhat band together many of those people who feel like outcasts, specifically for sexual motives or reasons (with gender being included in that).

I think if the goal is to bring together those who are considered suppressed or oppressed then I would say trans people probably fit into that. They struggle with similar ostracism, rejection by family, etc, so it seems as though they're in the same boat even though they struggle with very different problems at the same time.

Those different problems include scientific definitions. Trans people are trans because they believe they were born the wrong gender and desire to be considered as the "correct" gender. The problem is that "gender" is a term meant to specify/clarify biology. It's meant to make certain things clear regarding how the body develops and what... features, it may have.

I get the impression trans people stereotype what it means to be "man" or "woman." They feel they must be the wrong gender because they match the stereotype of the opposite gender better than that of the one into which they were born. But, if that IS the case, they've fallen into the trap of fighting for the wrong thing. What they ought to be fighting is the gender stereotypes and our perception of gender roles, not the genders themselves which can't be truly changed.

As things stand now, the fundamental aspects of what makes the body male or female, cannot TRULY be reversed. It's virtually impossible for a biological female to truly become biologically male and vice versa as their DNA dictates otherwise. Perhaps one day such advanced genetic technology will exist that a body can transform itself into that of the other gender. But, at least, til that day comes, being the born the wrong gender isn't the real issue.

If there are any trans folks who want to help me better understand their perspective after reading this, I'd love to listen.

Ughhh there is no right thing to say anymore apparently. My great-uncle was diagnosed with MR (mental retardation) but we can't say that anymore because it's "offensive". The new term is ID (intellectually disabled). Why is that any different? Retard by definition means a delay or hold back in terms of progress. Why is that so offensive? BECAUSE SOMEONE DECIDED IT WAS.
In education, we're not even allowed to use LEP (limited English proficient) because some dummy decided that it had a negative connotation.
Well, eventually we won't be able to label anything because someone is always getting offended.

Sounds similar to when some gay people would say there are no bi males only gay males. Every generation sees a shift in these types of thing. Now we know there is a lot of variation. Transgender has to do with gender identification which is also something that people are born with whether it be in the brain development or individual hormone balances. But transgender people can also identify as straight or otherwise. I think it should stay there as long as we need labels for now. Later the labels needs to disappear when people just don't care any more. It really doesn't matter except when asking someone out on a date to have the specific information.

I never thought about it, but yes.

The movement used to even include pedophilia, until gay people gained some steam in terms of political movement. I think LGB are the only ones that have true relevance in society as far as rights are concerned. Trans rights are bad for society in terms of what they're trying to get other than the freedom to do what they want with their bodies. If it stopped there no one would care.

Trying to dictate pronoun use through legal means, seeking to gain access to public restrooms of the gender they identify and seeking to give children hormone blockers... yea. None of that relates to LGB and is bad for society at large.

Transgender people should not be removed from the LGBT acronym because they're gay. If you're a guy claiming to be a girl and you're dating guys, then you're still a gay guy. Identifying as a girl doesn't make you a girl. You have to be born a girl to be a girl.

I could tolerate the LGB a lot more if the T is removed. I am not a fan of any of it but the T is not even a sexual orientation just something they lumped in there because they are different. if the T stays how long before a P is next?

The LGBT+ movement came together to fight outside forces. That doesn't mean they all like each other. A lot of gay and bisexual people don't like trans people. However, the movement isn't just for folks with non-"normal" sexual orientations - it's for people with non-normative sexual *identities*, which is exactly what trans is.

Doesn't mean we should value them less, however.

The big point I'd put for it is:
LGB is concrete, these sexualities have exact definitions and the people in them know exactly what they it means.

T has much more development to go before it gets where LGB is.
T isn't concrete, you speak to one person their definition and words they use vary from person to person.

It should be separate because they need different kinds of support to LGB.
