People should be able to do whatever they want with their own bodies. Of course second hand smoking causes damage to others, so I'm totally in favour of the smoking ban in restaurants and other public indoor spaces. And in a country with a public health care system smokers are a burden, but in my country the tobacco tax is high enough that smokers actually pay the government more in those extra taxes than what they cost in healthcare.
There are however a few place were government legislation has gone to far. From the 1st of January 2020 dedicated smoking rooms in public places in will be banned. Supposedly they create social pressure for non smokers to join smokers in the smoking room, and receive the negative health affects of second hand smoking. This sort of measure is completely infantilizing, I don't appreciate being treated like I'm a child who's not responsible for his own choices. And allowing government to make legislation that "protects people from themselves" is a gateway to massive government interference in the lives of the citizenry. Which has never had positive effects on any society.

I'm happy with the law as it is.
It was 16 to buy cigarettes, when I was growing up, which seems ludicrous now. Likewise, the stench of stale smoke, when you came home from the pub was awful.
So no, I don't miss the days of free smoking at all.
I think that non-smokers are the rudest people on the planet! They always try to make it all about THEM and THEIR health. Non-smokers never stop and consider the needs of smokers!
If the non-smokers are just worried about their precious baby's lungs, then leave the little bugger in the damn car! If it's really hot out, then just crack the window and leave em' a bowl of water! Duh!
People are just so damn selfish these days!
I recommend that all smokers just stand up for their rights and don't allow themselves to be bullied by these selfish non-smokers!
I wish people who smoked went into a "smoking room" (one room in a building designated just for
smoking so the rest of us didn't have to breathe in the second-hand smoke. And there could be an exhaust fan that takes the smoke-filled air out of the room and filters it before it's recycled back into the building or before it is released to the outside.)
We have to hold our breath when we walk past the entrance of buildings because the smokers are there.

I think the rights of non-smokers are more important than the rights of smokers.
I'm happy with it, I used to smoke and still do on rare occasions and yes it's a bit of a pain as a smoker especially when it's cold to have to go outside for a fag but I'm also considerate of how nonsmokers would feel, they wouldn't want to have smoke blown into their face when they dont smoke, also I can't stand it when you walk into a building (like someone's home) and it stink of cigarettes, also you have to consider how it would be for people who might have breathing difficulties or lung conditions, they shouldn't be forced to breathe it in and suffer the consequences just because others want to smoke
I don’t know my country’s smoking laws too well because I never had to, since I do not smoke. Now, I think they’re similar to yours and maybe they should be fairly strict overall. Smoking is poison and second-hand inhalation is bad for those around the smoker. Basically, when someone is smoking, they’re inhaling and spreading quite literally poison in their general environment. This hurts people and other living creatures.
I’m fine with not being allowed to smoke inside (it stinks, even most smokers I know agree). But here it’s getting to the point where you almost can’t smoke anywhere in public, even outdoors
I support the Tabaco industry. Smoking kills people, and those annoying assholes are all over the place.
I like except if go to a bar it should be ok I smoke here and there not to much why I like it though it keeps it away from people but kids especially who can't have that choice to walk away from it
Well for me, it barely effects me because I barely know anyone that does smoke
My country doesn't really have smoking laws on a federal level. Individual state legislatures enact laws as they see fit
Smocking kills. I don't smoke but drink beer or ale. When I am having food. UK is stupid and it full of idoit driver.
Adults should be free to do what they want as long as they are not infringing upon the rights of others. If you are exhaling the smoke from cancer sticks into my face, you are infringing my rights.
I live in England and used to smoke.
I think the laws are fine. It's meant to protect the health of those who smoke as well as those around those who smoke. Mostly those around them.I live in NY, they are banning e cigs fuggin everywhere but it’s still perfectly legal to smoke pretty much everywhere and give all the kids secondhand.
I'm happy with the laws in my state, you have to be 18 to buy cigarettes and smoking is banned inside buildings open to the public (including restaurants, bars, hotels, etc).
It's better than it was, for me I would like to see a total ban. No sales of them. But that would only drive it underground , like drugs...
I'm good with them. I was overexposed in my youth to 2nd hand smoke by my parents. 🙄
Cigs and e cigs kill so many people it’s insane. I personally wish they would ban them
I'm also UK and feel that it's a fair balance, but not enough restrictions on vehicle emissions,
Nah it's not too harsh. I am not going to cancer just because you want a cigarette.
Was just changed to 21, where I live. If you can't drink until 21, why should you be able to smoke?
In our country. No one goes by the law!
