I noticed that plenty of parents like to kiss their children on the lips. Psychologists say that parents should stop this. Do you think this is inappropriate or is it no big deal? Some claim that the lips should not be kissed as it confuses them. So you agree or disagree? Here are some images and different people have different opinions:

Me too. I think if they are 4 or older, definitely stop kissing their lips. They are smart and they associate that differently. You could see how the boy was confused in the last image.

For me this is a slightly yes and no.

I don’t like to admit it but in all honestly when it comes to this topic i’m a bit sexist. I believe they should be able to kiss their kids but when they get older to let’s say age 11 or 12+ it gets a bit weird. Linking back to sexist thing, if the a daughter was to kiss her father in the lips at age (e. g.) 14 it would be weird but if she kissed her mum on the lips (in my opinion) it wouldn’t be as weird. But that is just debunked on how that being heterosexual isn’t the only sexual orientation so there isn’t much logic there. Maybe only for the fact that the mother is supposed to be more be more nurturing one? I don't know.

As for calling them out in public, I wouldn’t do that. It’s not my business

Please tell me that second picture isn't really a mom and her son. I'm not opposed to a quick peck on the lips; but I think a kiss on the cheek, forehead, or temple are all better options. Granted that just be my bias as no one in my family kisses their kids on the lips.

I think kids will learn the difference between an innocent peck on the lips from a parent and a romantic or sensual kiss from a partner, but I do think it’s a little gross to see parents kissing their children on the mouth, especially if it lasts more than half a second.

A small peck is fine, but anything else like a big one is a No no. It can be embrassing and indecent. Better to just kiss them on the cheek or forehead. The top one is so-so. The 2nd one is way innappriopiate. She kissing him like he's her boyfriend or husband.

It was rare to sexualise acts of affection between parents and their children when I grew up. One has to wonder who decided to demonize the act? Sad. I find getting little boys to play with dolls and teaching children to learn how to masturbate in kindergarten is disastrous.

I don’t remember my parents kissing me on the lips, and I don’t kiss my daughter on the lips. But I never saw an issue with other parents doing it, I just think it’s weird once they get to a certain age.
But who am I to disagree with a psychologist? I have no qualifications, and I’m sure psychologists know what they’re talking about so if they say it confuses children, then I’m not gonna say they’re wrong

Who is it supposed to confuse my parent grew up kissing me on the lips and I don’t see how that was strange it was just affection.
