Why must people abide by their own racial communities?

I believe that sometimes, black people want to make sure everyone who’s black follows the culture. Because I’m a black dude, I have to date black women, listen to hip-hop and R&B, have encountered racist experiences, be Christian or Muslim and/or believe in horoscopes, etc. but I hate being confined to cultural boundaries. Granted, I don’t care about your opinion and I won’t take it to heart because I’m still going to do what I want to do anyway and the value of your opinion is utterly worthless, but I’m still curious as to why people believe that I have to follow whatever everyone else is doing.

The problem you describe stems from the pervasive nature of leftist identity politics in America. You rightly and understandably want to be treated as an individual regardless of the color of your skin. But that's not how the political Left/Democrat party views you. To them you are a member of an identity group which trumps your individuality as a human being. As such you're supposed to be a "good" member of that group and behave, think and vote according to your group status. And if you don't, according to Joe Biden "You ain't black!" It's all very demeaning and condescending.

I guess it's their way of preserving the culture, because if everyone starts following other cultures that culture would sooner or later be forgotten.
But I agree with you, there is nothing bad in taking whatever you like from other cultures, living the lifestyle you enjoy, while still being knowledgeable about your own culture, traditions etc. Personally I'm not the most "Arab" person as in I don't follow my culture strictly, I choose the side about it that I like and leave what I dislike, but I still know my culture, so I think that's all that matters.
