I am British and I do not believe America is racist, its multicultural and one of the most tolerant countries in the world.
But Trump and many of his supporters aren't exactly helping in that regard. Also Identity Politics are fracturing and have negative impact. I don't think people outside America believe America is racist even if media tends to sensationalize things for ratings.
But people certainly look at the sort of atmosphere and divisiveness Trump and his supporters have created in past few years which makes cohesion difficult, I'm sure you remember go back home chants.
Its also generational, millennials in America are very tolerant. So I don't think America is racist, sure no denying it there is racism but to insinuate America is racist is not accurate. Like you said it yourself if America was racist then why would people from all around the world want to move there.
I'm an Australian, and I know I can be racist. It's based on what I feel comfortable with, if there was a black man and a Chinese man and me in a room I would treat them both with respect, but I want this same general courtesy back. And if I don't get respect, depending on the topic of discussion and how important it is too my core values, I'm going to get very disgruntled. Unfortunately humans are becoming shittier everyday. Me me me, gimmi gimmi gimmi, now now now. Seriously they got to take their shitty attitudes and fuck right off, and don't bother me.
❌❌❌It’s a racist country. I’ve only experienced direct/verbal racism in my life from Americans and not from British people. I was born and raised here. Read this story: you think people only want to get to America? Britain/Europe is much better than America. People would much rather free healthcare here and more money. ‘Essex lorry deaths‘ late 2019, 40 people found dead in a lorry trying to get into the UK. The Uk tests for CO2 in lorries entering the country so people try suffocating themselves just to get into the country. Very sad story, but look at the desperation. These people pay 10s of thousands to get smuggled in and still don’t get British citizenship. google. com/amp/s/www. BBC. com/news/amp/world-europe-50159748

Ok, it was a hyperbole lol By and far, more people die to get here? 40 people died? It's tragic. More people risk everything to come here. Do you know what coyotes are? People pay thousands to get smuggled in here too. There are racists everywhere, you think the UK is not racist? Doubt. When I say is it racist, I mean either a high % or it's institutions, I don't feel either of those are true for us.
Mostly by boat. USA would be easy too easy to intercept. People want to smuggle drugs into the USA not themselves. Your Mexican or whatever, UK is out of bounds to you. The UK is better period. You’ll have more money and free healthcare, live longer... There’s a lot of shit hole countries around the USA so of coarse the USA is their best closest shot at life.
UK isn’t racist. I’ve never been verbally insulted by a Brit. Whereas I’ve been called a n**** by an American. The UK is a great country black people here don’t complain about being black like American.
I read your blurb until I got to no one is dying trying to come to Canada. Actually we are taking in a lot of refugees from the United States and have been for the past two years. It has been, at times, a flood. Two men lost fingers and toes from frostbite trying to get over the border, walking for miles in the cold. So the United States is a country people are fleeing from.
The United States has a 400 year history of difficult black-white relationships, including 250 years of slavery, then 100 years of apartheid, now most black Americans are marginalized. Discrimination and racism is deeply baked into American culture.
How could you not recognize that? I won't be clicking on your silly poll.

I'm not denying past racism. I'm saying now it isn't happening. And not as many people are dying to get to Canada. We take in the most illegals and other immigrants.
I've changed my mind before. This is exactly what I am talking about lol Y'all never give any facts or sources, just insults and shitty memes and tweets.
Girl, the facts are available for you. You have an American history of 400 years of such facts. There are articles written by social scientists daily on this topic, peer reviewed articles, news items, etc. If you are that ignorant you can't avail yourself of them there is no hope for you.
The facts are available for you. if you need a commenter on G@G to hold your hand to avail yourself of them, there's something wrong. Stay in your bubble. You're comfortable there. :)
I think the maneuver the RO used was flawed. However, I am certain as the case unfolds they will be hard pressed to show evidence of pre-existing racism on the Officer’s part and unfortunately that is what the case now will hinge upon - him being a racist. With the other three non-white officers being present and doing nothing they are equally going to undergo a scrutiny for racism which will also likely turn up nothing so going the racism route will likely damage the case as it always does because chances are high, the officer is not racist, just over zealous which is a problem when escalation occurs during a combative detainment. Was it flawed? Definitely. Is he racist? Good luck trying to prove that in court and not simply in the court of public opinion.
True Americans? No... it's the immigrants that come into our country that are racist. Send them back where the fuk they came from.. and that Omar bitch too. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 we the people are not racist. For example... don't cry and say you hate your country because violence and everything else to come to my country and then wave your flag on my soil saying how you love your country? Pack your fukin shit and get the fuk out of my country you racist piece of shit. Anyone who disagrees with me can get the fuck out too lol if I went to their country and do that I'd be shot on the spot. Yet the stupid Democrats want to open the borders to all immigrants and illegals and make California a sanctuary state for criminals drug dealers gangsters murderers child molesters and human trafficking. This is the kind of stuff that Democrats vote for LOL so sad
America is becoming increasingly more racist because minorities are given the power over the majority by abusing their fake victimhood card and these groups are pretty aggressive in targeting people that do not go along with it. Victimizing the majority groups. I don't think the actual majority of the country is racist and i am not aware of racist policies. But there are powerful groups actively pushing for more racism.
I don't really know how you can live in Chicago - the only city in the United States other than maybe LA where racial tension is palpable - and think America isn't racist.
Then again, it doesn't really matter. Thinking racism just goes away for some reason within a couple of generations after making it illegal is naive at best and jaw-droppingly stupid at worst.

It's ignorant to make such a huge generalization. American is made up of 328.3 million people. Dumb to assume every single one of those humans or even a majority are racist. The only racist people I have ever met were the elderly with the exception of two dumb fucks from my school who would say anything for a little attention. I've lived in the U. S. for eighteen years and from my experience, no America in whole is not racist. It's undeniably here but it isn't as much as people think in my opinion.
Sure there are racist Americans, but really look at the rest of the world. Look at Asia, most of Europe, South America, the Middle East, don't you think that those places are way more racist than the US?
I'm liberal and I appreciate your opinion. Here's my thoughts. America is not more racist than those "utopias". It's just that people are more aware of the issue. Most of us know that racism is evil (even if they're racist. They wouldn't try to hide it otherwise). Most of us acknowleadge what happened in the past and what's happening now. On the other hand, in some of those "utopias" , people are rather ignorant. They pretend it doesn't exist even tho it damn exists in every single country. I went to school in Canada and gotta say Canada is way more racist. They openly made a joke about black people in class and the teacher wouldn't do anything about it. That can't be the case in the most parts of the U. S. Love from a fellow Chicagoan💙
As an external observer, I don't think America is racist, no. I just think I think America is suffering from not having any form of legitimate political center, which creates a situation where the actual voice of reason goes unheard because of all the noise the two highly polarized camps make by screeching autistically eat each other.
I don't doubt that there are many sensible people in the US, you just can't hear them.
I believe D. Chauvin, the cop kneeling on his neck was most likely acting out of racism. But consider the possibility that the four cops present were responsible for putting a hit on George Floyd for some bad drug debt. So wait for the full investigation.
I'd like to think that most people are decent. Media sensationalizes everything, so it is a distorted view... But I am quickly losing any small hope I had for USA, which has been on the decline for years now...
America is definitely not racist. If you look who's funding the narrative that America has a racism problem it's the corporate elite. The mainstream media, university curriculum, and extremist groups are ALL funded by the super rich. America has a brainwashing problem stemming from its crony capitalism problem.
no i dont think it is at all. yes there will always be racist people, everywhere in every country, but america doesn't have a problem. and if the officer on george floyd's neck was racist, why do people have to photoshop images of him so it looks like he's wearing a maga hat to make him appear more racist? they're reaching for anything to turn this into a race thing. as soon as it's white and black, it has to be a racism thing. why is america so obsessed with race?
It always has been. All I can say is it’s slowly getting better, even if that’s hard to notice in these current circumstances 🇺🇸 The fact that the death of one black man could lead to this much outrage says so much about social progress compared to the regular indiscriminate black killings that everyone turned a blind eye on there over a century ago

I don't think it is, at least not a huge issue. There are individual cases of racism, but it isn't any institutional or systemic issue.

Racism is happening in the US. It's a culture of racism.
It's individual, not systemic. Racism exists everywhere
No.
In some countries it is part of the system, part of the culture. That's the problem.
If you can show examples, I will agree. Site your examples and sources please.
No, I won't do that.
If you're that fucking dumb you can't see what's obvious, one commenter on G@G won't change your mind.

Not 'America', just SOME 'Americans'. Change is needed. Rioting and looting is not the answer.
Agreed
Largely no but we do have a very sizable population of racists.
I don't think it's that big of an issue. I've met much more non racists than racists
You’d be surprised
I'm not. Because most I've met aren't racist.
You lucked out then, I’m glad to hear it :)
Thank you lol :)
@Agape93 Actually I don’t think she lucked out. It’s the reality. Take a look at this. www.huffpost.com/.../reuters-poll-white-supremacist-views_n_59bc155fe4b02da0e141b3c8
“70 percent strongly agreed that “all races are equal,” and 89 percent agreed that all races should be treated equally”
