Do you think that mixed race people are racist?

This is a ridiculous question right? Any rational thinking person understands that your skin color, your race, does not automatically make you racist. Its simple logic, to quite my favorite star trek character.

But the makers of D&D are saying that mixed race species are racist and because of that they are removing them from the hand book for the next edition of the game. They are literally saying mixing races is racist. Like something out of the KKK/Nazi hand book.

I never played, nor have i any clue how this game works, So i read this link in it's entirety, to see what i can learn from it, and it seems to be the typical people took something and ran with it based off of falsehoods to drive a point they wanted conveyed.

Years ago one of the developers made a generic statement about half races could be considered racist and problematic.

As for the update they made. It says they did not remove half races for being racist.

It says you can mix all the species and give them unique skills, but the half orc, and half elves were made to be the only separate race of the mixed races, and the only one they allowed to pick one half elf skills and one half orc skills.

Where the others do not work that way. You choose one species skills or the other.

The new update actually allows more options on making more mixed races. And more options on skill combinations.

So the update doesn't have to do with removing mixed races but fixing an issue in gameplay to give more pleasant of an experience, and make the mixing of races more consistent throughout the game, because the current version doesn't give this same skill.

Good thing I'll still be using old rules, I think my DM uses 2nd edition still or maybe it was 3rd, I don't remember.

I'm also mixed race, but I read the article its the whole term Half that makes some think it is racist, because the term half is considered racist by some.

I'm human, I'm not half of human combined with anything else... so no mixed race people are not anymore racist than those who are racist against humans.

It is because of the influence of Matt Mercer. He is a liberal D&D dm and he even said that Orcs are Black people and that Dwarves represent greedy Jews. He claims a bunch of bs lies and tries to pretend D&D is racist.

Obviously Dwarves are Scottish based with their plaid clan colors and ancestry caste systems.

As someone who actually plays D&D I don't think this title is really accurate. When me and my friends play we already ban half-orcs cus it's boring. If you wanna play an orc then you have to take the negatives too, half orc is just CHEATING, so I feel like it's probably being removed for balance & consistency, but right wingers have always got hysterical and upset over D&D despite never playing it.

Also I'm pretty sure half orc is still going to be in the game you're just not going to get the bonuses from it

Mixed race Lol. My daughter when younger…said… “mom, I’m 1/3…1/3…. And 1/3 … lol… still her math is better than mine. She is mixed.
We are all racist… if we leave the US… no one cares…people in other societies are too worry about getting their basic needs met. They are focusing on their educations, bettering themselves… here… the majority are too busy being pulled down by the society/social media… so they will never raise above…we are losing globally.

The difference… most of what’s outside is a political agenda.

I'm not gonna watch the video rn but I assume they're talking about mixed races like half-elf and half-orc. I can see why the game having those races could be seen as racist, because they're essentially mixing 2 different species, creating a race of not-fully-humans with exaggerated features usually common to fantastical creatures. (Not to mention those fantastical creatures' characteristics often originate in racism, ex goblins.)

While I think most people don't see this as racist, it's ultimately up to the company to decide if they wanna listen to any criticism. I've heard everybody already hates some big DND company rn for some other reason anyway, but I haven't watched any videos on that either..

Mixed and yes sometimes I'm rather racist as that's a fairly normal human behaviour.

There will be racists people everywhere and the sooner one accepts it the better it would be, humans generally don't like aspects that are different to them especially when it comes to race, religion, social standings etc.

People have been saying that the word racist has been so over used, that it has lost its meaning, and the same with the word homophobic. People seen have to backed off from saying the word racist. It got pretty wild there for a while. Trucks were racist, cheese was racist, and in and on.
So here we are again with the word racist in front of our eyes.
I think the answer to this would be on an individual basis. You can't say ALL mixed are racist.

Well I'm going to blow up the discussion by stating the fact that each race have different attractutes they better and worse at.

IQ, probability of health related issues, less fat, more muscle, etc. So there is benefit to picking the race that gives you higher probability of serves you bettee

Apparently, their reasoning behind it is to make the mixed race system easier by having the player have more freedom to take two races and put them together as opposed to having half-elf or half-orc as their own race listing. This was taken partly out of context by what I've read on Twitter.
