Hey black people- is there blackface you’re ok with?

It seems to me there’s an entertainment area where it should be ok. But I haven’t been marginalized for my skin tone. So I refer to you! Kimmel? Tina Fey? Should they have consequences?

Not black but I don't mind black (or other skin color) people doing a "white face" using paint, dye other types of pigments for entertainment purposes.

So unless it's an individualistic opinion that painting your face black is something no one should do I'd really like to know why black people in general would get offended by it.

Back in the days old tv wouldn't allow black people on tv so white painters painted themselves black and drew on big lips and portrayed black people to be ignorant and uneducated that is why it is offensive.

If you mean they portrayed themselves as blacks by painting their faces with dark coloring and drew big lips on them then it's just racism and mockery. Not ignorance and them being uneducated. Considering during those times black people were extremely subjugated by white people even though their rights were more or less the same as other ethnicities.

Times have changed a lot from back then so how is it racist now if someone portrays themselves as black when if in actuality it isn't meant to be racist or mockery. But if you personally just find it to be so then it's fine, but my point was to ask if it's generally thought as something people should get offended by.

Blackface in movies or TV shows mocking people who think blackface is okay, like Robert Downey Jr. in “Tropic Thunder” or Ben Stiller in “Zoolander”.

In my country there is not so many black people so in our movies and tv shows you can sometimes notice people who make black face because we cannot find black actors to play black characters, not because we are racist.
